He knows the judicial system, and everything and everyone throughout Richmond. Barnes and Deihle are not cheap, but their expertise and experience pays off in spades. I have spent at least $20k over the past 2 years in a knock-down drag- out divorce, and have not gone to jail, gone bankrupt, or had to pay my wife for anything. Divorce sucks... But, B&D will take you to the other side without losing anything you're not willing to forsake. Best family law firm in central VA.

We knew this was going to be a tough case and our chances of winning was not good at all. Parents have more rights than aunts, grandparents etc.. Just because you are a grandmother or aunt is not good enough in the eye's of the court. You have to prove a lot in court and it is not easy at all. We started at ground zero and we were devastated. We searched for a law firm that could represent this special type of case that we were up against. We researched and contacted Barnes & Diehl in Chesterfield VA. We were represented by Mr. John Karanian who put together a magnificent case. He worked diligently and as a result...We won!!! Mr. Karanian is outstanding as an individual. Mr. Karanian is very professional, works very hard for his clients, keeps clients updated, and he never disappointed us. We now have visitation and it would not have been possible without Mr. Karanian. If you feel like you are up against the odds, we can assure you that there is hope at Barnes & Diehl with John Karanian.

OMG he was so smooth with the trapping he got my ex lost in his lies. My ex eventually admitted to our agreement when his own attorney was questioning him. Me and Jody lol looked at each other like wtf. It got to a point I was embarrassed for him but then i thought nah. We each had less than an hour that was good for them because Charles was ready to mop the floor with him. Charles did his homework before the case he actually caught another lie while in court and went back up to question him about it. I am so so happy with the results. Put his name in Chatgpt lol. If you are looking for an attorney who is intelligent, organized, strategic, and truly prepared to fight for you in court, I would absolutely recommend Charles Shumaker.

According to other reviews, Mr. Van Smith definitely knew before February of Mr. Miller's unsatisfactory representation. Why wasn't he addressed beforehand? Instead, money was adding up for services that weren't received. I blame the firm as well as Mr. Miller.February was when I reported Mr.Miller lack of interest and promptness of handling my case went unniticed in this firm. I will carry out my final decisions with Brian Fraser and hopefully this will be completed promptly.

My wife had to have surgery, which was conducted at OrthoVirginia. Our insurance was slow to pay…read moreone bill, and that bill was turned over to the Gilliam Law Group for collections (with no notice or conversation from OrthoVirginia, but that's in another review). They, in turn, never contacted us about the balance. Our initial contact was a summons to appear in court. Again...not a letter, not a phone call, but a summons. The judge did actually listen when we explained that insurance was still reviewing it, and decided to allow us more time to resolve things with the insurance company. After conferring with the insurance company, we were told it would be paid and all was ok. Fast forward one year. I checked my checking and savings accounts, and saw that both were empty (despite having plenty of money earlier that day). After investigating, I discovered that the Gilliam Law Group had asked for our accounts to be frozen. Again, we were not notified at all. There was no bill, no phone call, no letter...we moved straight to garnishment. We now have had our accounts frozen for nearly a week, and have been told that our accounts will not be made available again for several more days (even though we paid the debt in full several days ago). This, by the way, is the first time this has ever happened to either of us. We are very diligent about paying our bills. I do not know why we received no notice from this organization before they took the extreme measure of freezing our assets, but I find the practice reprehensible. We literally cannot put gas in our car, buy groceries, or pay our bills because this firm couldn't be bothered to send a bill or make a phone call. The only saving grace is that we have friends who are willing to help us. I can only imagine how hard it would be for people who didn't have the ability to pay immediately...they'd be starving with no hope in sight. The prevailing attitude among the people at the firm has been that it's our fault, and that the fact that we went to court was our notice (despite that happening more than a year ago). Legally, I'm sure they are correct. Ethically, I find this disgusting and predatory. I'd be ashamed to work for this organization; I wouldn't be able to sleep at night knowing that I was responsible for people not being able to even buy groceries because I froze their accounts with no notice. All my wife and I want is to be able to have a fair chance to pay our bills. That's all we ever wanted. Too bad the individuals at this law firm appear to have had a different agenda.
