Allison could not have done a better job the day of. She built a great rapport with my family, bridal party, and the venue's event manager to ensure the day ran smoothly. She knew the schedule and set up like the back of her hand. When the timing of certain day-of activities changed last minute, she made sure to let me know of the changes and the night went on without issue. If it were not for COVID and my anxieties around how it would affect our wedding I likely would not have looked for an outside coordinator- our venue did provide one that began to work closely with us (and Allison) in the month or so before the wedding and I truly believe she would have done a comparable job in the day-of execution. This venue is absolutely gorgeous and the DJ was great, had the dance floor going all night. Most important was the food. From the appetizers to the main food everything was exceptional. The first clue should have been there was not steak knife to cut filet mignon, you didn't need one. This was probably the best steak I have ever had. I wish I brought a doggy bag as I had too many appetizers which were also exceptional. The wedding planner Paige was on top of everything all night. She was exceptiona. She presented the Elks very well and we decided to book our wedding there. She sat down in a long meeting with us and offered all the time in the world to go over each detail with us. It is set so beautifully across from the ocean and the facility itself is kept so well, inside and out. A few weeks later, we were notified that Kelly was leaving her position at the Elks. We were disappointed but assured that the new planner would be great so we expected nothing less. During the final few weeks prior to our wedding, we arranged a visit with the newly hired planner, Samantha. Unfortunately our expectations were disappointed very much that day. Our caterer came to meet us there (we did all the arranging, she forgot) and I must say that Samantha did not treat out caterer with respect. Several times during our meeting, Samantha left the room to attend to other matters and we were left waiting for her on important decisions. Samantha seemed very inexperienced and seemed to bounce all over the place and was unable to stay focused on what could have been a profitable hour meeting. I felt badly for our caterer, for how she talked at him and I apologized to him for her behavior. Several times, when I was asking her questions regarding seating etc, Samantha would be looking out the window past me and down at her watch and have to ask me to repeat what I said. She seemed very distracted. This was so disheartening to me. I felt disappointed and it seemed like plans were not set once the meeting had concluded. Over the next few days, several times after the meeting, Samantha called me to go over details that had been discussed during the meeting and I feel that if she had paid attention during the meeting, she would not have had to call me 6 or 7 times the following week. The most distasteful part took place on my wedding day. One of our friends was our photographer. I do not believe she knew he was a family friend. She scolded him to hurry along with the photos and then explained to him that I was a disorganized bride. This was very unprofessional of Samantha. No matter what her feelings were toward anyone that day, her words should have been kept to herself. Other than the disturbing and unprofessionalism of Samantha, I very highly recommend the Elks at Bass Rocks with all my heart. I only wish that Kelly had not left when she did!

I got married in May of 2015, I picked May because I knew all of the flowers I liked would be in…read moreseason then! The flowers were something I was most excited about and had been pinning before I even got engaged. I was obsessed with big blooms, peonies, ranunculus, and as many brides are these day eucalyptus leaves. Planning my wedding from a few states away I couldn't meet in person with anyone but with the internet these days that was not an issue. I really loved all of Caroline's work and knew she would be one of my top picks. She was so easy to work with and was flexible and understanding when sending over quotes. Ultimately based on price and previous work I decided to book Caroline! I sent over my Pinterest board and off we went! In our contract she describes my bouquet as having big blooms and lush greenery, wild over flowering. Yes, exactly what I wanted. When she walked in to my hotel on wedding day I was really thrown off that the flowers she brought in were my bouquet. The crew was in a rush so she just asked me where I should put the flowers down without giving me a good look at the bouquet. I was upset the minute I saw it. But, I didn't want to be a bridezilla and when my MOH offered to call to get Caroline back to the hotel to try to update the flowers I don't remember exactly what happened but it didn't work out. I know flowers die when they aren't in water which is why I picked out the flowers and greenery that I did. My bouquet was full of small white wild flowers, which were in none of my inspiration photos. As you can see from my photo they promptly died right after the 30 minute ceremony. Ranunculus were no where to be found and when I asked Caroline after the wedding she let me know the batch she got in weren't in good shape. It was disappointing that there was no other supplier that she could have found a few at. I was also renting a huppah from Caroline and she was providing the flowers for it as well as draping an ivory cloth over the top. While I was en route to the wedding my soon to be husband started texting me letting me know that the huppah was not the one he thought we had gotten. I found out afterwards the pots that Caroline brought to stand the huppah up had broken during transit. The venue had a similar huppah so she thought it was best to use that one. I knew the venue had that huppah and requested to rent one from Caroline because their's was on wheels, which I thought looked cheesy. She also forgot to put the drape up over the huppah. She did a beautiful job with the flowers on the huppah, but a huppah traditionally is always draped, huppah means wedding canopy after all. I was disappointed that the drape was forgotten. The cocktail hour bud vases were beautiful and she did a wonderful job decorating the mantel like we had talked about. The centerpieces were also pretty, my bouquet was just so disappointing. Especially disappointing from someone who loves flowers and is still thinking about it a year and a half later. If you can spare the cash I recommend doing a sample bouquet, had I done that things would have been much different!
