But for those of you that have been here before.m they have remodeled.. its quite nice.. beds clean.. i had one bad towel stain.... but thats nothing to cry about.. I am using it kn the floor anyway check in was a bteeze.. and friendly.. very accommodating & I cant complain about anything.. A/c is cold Its 100 degrees out there and im under a blanket.. bwaahaahaa Water pressure is good Everything works And its well priced Cute rooms Comes with fridge Coffee maker Microwave Yes people i will be back.. Just checked out. So many things wrong with Room 206. First there were hairs in the tub and shower curtain. The main floor of the room was squishy is how I can explain it. If you like extra firm mattresses you may enjoy the bed but doubtful. Woke up to both drawers open (ghost?) nope. Closed them again and they opened, so dresser isn't level. The grouting in the shower could get cleaned up and the shower heads need to be replaced. The toiletries offered were good. Even for the price, I will be looking elsewhere when staying in Whittier again.. Like others have said the Front desk is very kind when checking in. And it is quiet. It looks like the room I stayed in was newly painted and decorated but the poor upkeep and the lighing choices ruined the upgrade attempt. The one chair in the room had a broken arm. Bedside light didn't work. That meant the only light in the room was from harsh, too bright, cold white overhead lights. Better than motel six, but It was like staying in a hospital rather than a hotel, and a poorly maintained one at that. read more

We will never stay there again !!!!!!! There were coco roaches, and when we asked for them to give us a discount they refused. We must have killed about 20 and they told us there was no more rooms to give us. We had no where else to go we were at a church conference, we were very disappointed and to top it off we had to spray everything that we were taking home because we found roaches in our bags we didn't want to take any roaches home. Found 2 hairs in the sheets. The ac kept going on and off throughout the entire night even tho it was at the lowest level. Changed the setting and still didn't work correctly. Every time it turned back on it made a really loud noise that it would wake us up. Not worth the $100 per night. It also smelled like sewer in room. Didn't want to sleep with windows open bc there are crazy ppl out there. The bed was firm which was the only good thing about this place. read more

This place was actually very nice. The room was very nice and looked recently renovated. Bed was comfortable. I slept well. There's a Dominos pizza 5min away (by car). The only negative situation I had was when I went to the front office to check in, I had to wait for quite a while before a lady came to assist me. She did not have the attitude for customer service that's for sure! And when I went to check out I waited at the window for about 10min while the man in there was talking on his cell phone knowing I was standing there. read more

I read many reviews befor spending two day here while our home was worked on. This hotel had a higher rating than Doubletree. So I was very disappointed upon entering our room. The furniture was cheap-Dodgers were playing and the tv didn't work. The bedspread looked like it came from a thrift store( maybe it did!) While my husband messed with the tv I inspected the bed sheets. Yikes I'm not kidding stains on all three coverings. I want out! The employee was kind but had to get some one on the phone for a decision on what to do. They offered us another room. TV worked -Clean newer furniture and better looking bedding- sheets were immaculate! Why in the heck didn't they give us this one in the first place!!! I just made the best of it because we had no choice. Owners need to inspect all rooms. Bedding is just not pretty. One Star because the price was right ! read more

Called them to cancel and not charge but they charged. The person picked up the call rudely said call Booking.com. Would give NO if possible. We stayed here once. Will never stay here again. We booked online. We picked a luxury suite because we wanted a couch. On the website, there are pictures of the different rooms. We get there, we were placed in a mini suite. I went to the front to explain we were placed in the wrong room and showed confirmation that we booked A LUXURY SUITE; not a mini. I showed the guy the proof, and yet the he insisted we were in the right room, dismissing the confirmation I showed him. It was like talking to the wall, got no where. We were willing to stay, I just wanted a refund of the difference because obviously I paid more for a better room. He said to speak to the manager and that he would be there at 8pm. HOWEVER, the room was dirty! There was a pair of dirty socks behind the accent pillow on the chair! The bed sheet were not clean. Alrhough subtle, you can see they were not fresh sheets. There were hairs on the bed and in the shower. The air conditioning never got cold. We were refunded our money and left. I told them they provided false advertising...but in actuality, they just scammed us. The website was very clear on the rooms, what they looked like, and the price. I grew up in this area and had no idea it existed until to I had to visit for business and found this spot while searching the net. I was very impressed with my over all experience with this establishment. The person who assisted me was so professional, friendly, and efficient that registration was a breeze. My boyfriend and I stayed one night on Halloween.The price is very reasonable, especially for the immaculate condition of the room we stayed in. When the man came to the window to check in, he wasn't the friendliest, however because I asked for an end room, he accomodated and found us the lower room next to the pool. He did warm up a bit after telling him that we always send our family and friends here that come to visit. He handed us the key, the internet password and we were on our way. The bed was SUPER comfortable, they had very nice blinds, no tacky curtains. The bathroom and the sink (which was outside the bathroom) was IMMACULATE!!! There was a microwave, a mini coffee pot and a nice size armoir closet to hang your clothes and put your bags in. The flooring was very nice as well, no carpet which I really liked. The one downfall which wasn't a big deal since we weren't there to watch TV, was that the TV picture quality was fuzzy. We could still see the picture it just wasn't HD quality. I would DEFINATELY recommend and continue recommending to our family and friends who come to visit to stay here. 8-day stay during July 4th, 2022 long weekend & high season for summer travel: I would definitely stay here again; this is probably my 7th time over the last few years staying here. I did not plan to stay at any hotel. I planned to stay at a friend's home but there was a terrible plumbing issue that affected the electricity issue and even my friend had to find somewhere else to stay. So at the last minute I was looking for a place to stay for eight consecutive days. I had some Airbnb options; however, since I had favorable experiences with Friendly Hills Inn in the past I thought maybe I would get lucky to find eight consecutive days where I could get to stay in the same room without having to move around. The front desk staff was very helpful in assisting me to get what I wanted and they honored the military rate which I really appreciated. I do feel safe at this hotel, Friendly Hills Inn in Whittier, CA. It's easy to get into and out of and the rooms themselves are very comfortable. I like the different lighting options even though I do bring my own nightlight for the bathroom sink area. The air conditioner works very nicely and in a quiet manner. There's a microwave, a medium-sized mini fridge as well as a small coffee maker. The hotel room is modern contemporary and there's a variety of softer and harder pillows so depending on if you want to sit up in bed against the bed frame or lay down you have options. I like that the light switch to turn off the main lights and the lamp is right next to the bed. Amenities about nearby including restaurants shopping etc. there are delicious made-from-scratch soups at the "California Grill Restaurant", and I did enjoy Huevos a la Mexicana at "Mr. Giants". Discovered a great store called Upscale Collectibles on Greenleaf; a wonderful collection of gently used furniture, jewelry, books, clothing, shoes, dish ware, linens and more. Great people work there. So I will definitely stay here again at Friendly Hills Inn in Whittier, CA. Again I had the option to stay at an Airbnb which I had booked just in case this hotel wasn't available for eight consecutive days but having both options available, Friendly Hills Inn and the Airbnb, I decided to choose Friendly Hills Inn and that's a win-win for both myself as well as the good people who run it. *Overall - 0.5 Big Bright Stars* I was excited to be here, however I should have known the low rate was too good to be true. I stayed here for two day on business travel and was thoroughly appalled by the goings on of this establishment. From the Slumlord owners, to the sketchy crackhead maids this place takes bottom basement to a new and unexplored location. The property itself is disheveled and my room on the second floor was outdated and had a stench to it. If you are planning on staying here please note the slumlord (owner) lives on premises but does not provide breakfast, coffee, or even water. The only refreshments are from a junky old vending machine that's chained down outside like a dog no one wants to keep. Upon checking out after the second day my co-worker in the next room became ill and needed extra time to pack up and leave her room, but the slumlord did not want to allow any extra time. Check out is at 11am, I personally called and the best they would do was 11:30, even though I explained the situation. At 11:30 on the dot this sketchy tweeker/crackhead maid pounds on the door and starts with the attitude. No one was checking in, they had many rooms to clean yet proceeded to pester a sick customer with their BS nonsense. I personally packed my co-workers belongings up and loaded up the car, only to have the slumlord (owners) come out and try to talk s**** to me. I put his ass in check and told him it must feel powerful to harass a sick woman whose only fault was spending their money on this dump. Honestly don't waste your time or money here, this place needs to be hit with a wrecking ball. The owner (slumlord) has zero respect for customers let alone women. This place sucks stay at your own peril, as I wouldn't put it past the Slumlords to commit insurance fraud on the property. read more

Stayed here for 3 nights mid-week. Overall, it was pleasant. The room was clean, bed was clean, bathroom was clean, there was plenty of parking (and it was free!)...so I can't complain. The room was cleaned daily, and they were nice enough to give me an extra towel after they apparently noticed that I was using all my towels. My room didn't have my TV remote, but when I called it in, the guy came running up with it. I really appreciated it. One star was knocked off over pricing. I booked online using a AAA rate. I wish the site would have said that it required a physical AAA card. It being 2018, I use my phone for everything, including my AAA membership. Needless to say, the AAA app/card was not accepted. Price was still good, but it sucked paying an extra 10%. read more

These are simple accommodations. The room was quiet, the bed was comfy, and everything was very clean. Parking was convenient and air conditioning was very good though not silent. There is also a setting for ventilating if you just want fresh air. We are locals and just needed a place to stay overnight. Friendly Hills Inn was a good choice for us. So I based this off of the other good reviews. We stayed here Saturday night as the other hotel we wanted to stay at was booked for Saturday night. We needed something close to my guy's new job, so this was in the area. This looks like a generic hotel/motel from the outside, been painted, but I swear this room was immaculent inside. Newly remodeled about 2 months ago. We stayed in a luxury suite room. Great deal too $90 total. Had brand new everything except the carpet didn't look it. That was stained and there was some stain on the bedspread. I like the fact that they use paper cups for the coffee maker and coffee packets for the coffee. Yes brand new coffee maker. Beautiful tastefully decorated too. They seem to be keeping it clean, spotless. From what it looks like, these people bought the place about 3 years ago and have been dumping money into. Family oriented, their son was there that helped us. This is very old school on reserving a room, you can book online, but they will not charge your card until you come in and you fill out a paper info card with you info. So its not computer generated. they will give you a tiny piece of paper with the wifi code on it. I mean tiny and you have to ask for it. Small swimming pool looked inviting but we didn't use it. I would recommend this place and its inexpensive. If we need a place to stay again, we will come back. read more

My family and I have been coming back and forth from Northern to Southern CA over the last year or so for family reasons. We are often very tired when we arrive/ during our stay. We've stayed at so many hotels / motels in the area, but now we only stay at the Friendly Hills Inn. The family who runs it is so kind, the rooms are clean, the showers are hot, and it's quiet at night. We so wanted to like staying here. The campus and rooms are clean and nice, there are ,many wonderful perks that others mentioned like fridge, microwave, flat screen, etc. The price is very affordable. The owners clearly take so much pride in owning your own business and that is to be celebrated! However, their customer service skills and attitude are almost offensive. We have stayed not once, but twice, two different months, and BOTH times we did not feel welcome at all, but instead like we were inconveniencing them...or like we were criminals being watched. I am not one to be picky, and my husband who is the most easy going guy ever, both of us felt uncomfortable and truly offended....so I feel I should write a review. When we booked my mother in law wanted to pay for the room for my husband and I as a gift. When she tried to do that she received a very rude inquiry about why she would be paying for us... and that we were "NOT to have parties. And there are NO GUESTS ALLOWED." We are 36 year olds with 3 kids...not party animals...and we were not planning on having a party or a guest, but good to know. We tried to give them the benefit of the doubt that maybe they have had problems before, but it didn't stop there...nor was that the only firm voice used with us during our stay. When we went out at night for dinner and came back, we were not greeted with a "Welcome back, how was your evening?" but instead with a scowl, arms crossed, and an inquiry. When we wanted to use the pool it was padlocked...although it was the middle of the day...and again we were asked if we were registered...several times...rudely...in the same conversation. We were watched with every coming and going. We were not doing anything out of the ordinary...a run to sprouts for food, a trip to LA fitness, a drive over to my mother in law's house. We never came back to a smile or a "How is your day going?" or "Did you have a nice dinner?" (Which would be a great way to keep track of guests if one was worried!), but instead with either a scowl or a "What room are you in?" Truly we felt more like criminals then welcome guests here. Also, if you want to know all the details: We did have a a nice tv, but the remote was broken (only the power button worked) They do have Wifi but it didn't work about 50% of our stay. Friendly Hills Inn, I guess I feel like you can check and see if people are registered guests to insure safety and protection of your business without treating them like criminals. We understand trying to protect your business, but there truly are better ways to word the same questions. In my opinion, with the combative inquiries and scowls that we got, you will not have quiet, well-mannered, kind, respectful, guests staying here that you are hoping for.....I know you have scared us away. I thought I had picked an ok place to stay while visiting my college daughter. The reviews were good and the pics looked like a remodeled safe and clean place. Was I ever wrong. The pictures must be severely outdated. This is s motel not an Inn. Not sure who posted the great reviews but our standards must be completely different. The room was old and musty. The air con didn't ever make the room comfortable. I was so disgusted by the furniture, carpet and bedding that I slept fully dressed using my airplane blanket. I also did not take off my shoes when walking around the room. My window was unlocked and thankfully I checked it for safety. I told my family that I slept dressed with one eye open. Frankly I was spooked. Lesson learned. I will at extra and drive further for a true 4star chain hotel. read more

I'm really surprised at the 1st rating, because I actually had a really good stay! Its located in the nice part of Whittier (East, towards/near Friendly Hills), so you know your defininitly in a good area, quiet, nice accomodations (average somewhat, but the decor, furniture, bed, Flatscreen LCD/LED TV, etc, Nice!! Comes w/HBO premuim Cable channels, WiFi which worked good, also mini fridge & coffee pot w/the coffee packets, (which are ok, the fridge colda been a lot colder), the stay was peaceful, the hotel owner/family were very professional, accomodating & friendly. I would stay here again, for sure. And if circumstances did arise, I feel that the Hotel Owner is definitely ontop of it & tries his best to make it safe, pleasant and no noise, based on the appearance of the rooms, the cleanliness (non smoking rooms & they definitely were, didn't smell stinky cover up like most), & the quietness I experienced, it shows he doesn't tolerate anything. read more

Very unassuming when you pull in. However, the room was spacious and very clean. The decor was modern. Everything in the room appeared new. Comfy bed. No weird smells. Pleasantly surprised! Super nice and helpful manager. Initially, we booked a king with a rollaway bed, which a website said they offered.
