When she told me I could stay the guy that was actually there told me I had to give him my credit card and leave my credit card with them for three hours. I told him why did I have to do that? I've never had to do that before anywhere, including here, he said I just have to get the information for my boss. I told him is it cool if I hold onto your credit card for three hours, which he responded with no I can't let you have my credit card. So then I said so why should I let you have my credit card? You don't even really Work here apparently and you're trying to hold onto my credit card in three hours. You can waste on my money. He said no I won't do that. I promise. About three hours later he came back to my room gave me back my credit card and kicked me out of the room and told me to go to a different room after I had already put all my stuff down and took a nap and a shower. That was just one of many. I came today called at 9 AM in the morning. Asked when I can check in. They told me come at 11. I know they often take time to clean so I come at 11:40 when I get there the guy tells me sorry that room is not gonna be available or any rooms are not gonna be available till 3 o'clock in the afternoon I was like what I've literally talk to you guys a few hours ago one of you told me to show up today at 11 I gave you till 1140 so you guys can have your shit clean and now you're telling me I gotta come back at three. The guy says hold on comes out of the room goes on to talk to his, I'm assuming mom and dad Ask them something comes back and says oh yeah the room will be done in 10 minutes but we're gonna charge you extra because you came on time and I was like what??!!??!! he told me it was gonna be 140 to 160 depending when his parents finish because I came on time and everybody usually comes after three. I said bullshit bro I've been coming here for three years and I've never been charged more than 120. I've been charged 120 in the morning 120 in the afternoon 120 at night no matter what and now these guys trying to get extra money off me probably lying behind his mom and dad's back so he can get an extra 40 here and there. This place is bullshit, these crazy ass people are greedy and are constantly changing their rules and their prices for no reason, Do not come here you guys there's literally a hotel right on the side of it go to that one. This is by no means a fancy hotel but what we got was very reasonable and served our purpose perfectly. The room was really spacious and it was clean. The beds were very comfortable. There was no ants or dead bugs like some yelpers were saying. The shower worked well and there's even a very spacious walk-in closet. Overall we had a very pleasant and comfortable stay at a very reasonable price.

Instead, Home2 Suites apparently decided to operate a small republic of comfort next to a golf course. First, the place understands both introverts and extroverts. You can self-check-in and reach your room with minimal human ceremony, or deal with the friendly staff if you actually enjoy speaking to mammals. The lobby is modern, clean and relaxed without looking like somebody hired an interior designer specifically to intimidate people wearing shorts. Across the street is a pond, palm trees, the Montebello golf course and driving range. If you can get a room facing that direction, DO IT. My window view looked like Southern California had briefly cleaned itself up for a brochure. After temperatures hit roughly 104°F, the complimentary shaded underground parking also became less an amenity and more a humanitarian service. My room was huge, clean and unusually comfortable, with a kitchenette, sink, microwave, genuinely large refrigerator and plenty of living space. The bathroom has a sexy minimalist thing going on, with a roomy glass shower. The bed and pillows? Dangerous. I checked in around 3 PM, got comfortable, started watching TV, skipped dinner entirely and eventually fell asleep around 11:30. I had apparently ceased being a tourist and become a house cat. The TV also allows access to streaming options including YouTube, Apple TV and Max-type apps, although the regular television channel selection is fairly basic. Then breakfast happened. Breakfast runs 6-9 AM, criminal hours for civilization, but this was easily the strongest hotel breakfast of my Southern California trip. Eggs, sausage patties, potatoes, pretzel-style breakfast buns, pastries, bagels, cereals, cheeses including Swiss, Pepper Jack and cheddar, yogurt, fruit cups, oatmeal and a small botanical garden of oatmeal toppings: granola, dried banana, cranberries, brown sugar, almonds and coconut. The oatmeal itself deserves recognition because it remained oatmeal rather than hardening into municipal infrastructure. Then there are the waffles. You can construct your own, and apparently surrender all remaining nutritional dignity by applying chocolate chips and red-white-blue sprinkles until breakfast resembles an elementary-school election celebration. Fresh fruit toppings/compotes were available too. Coffee was strong and hot; juices included apple, orange and strawberry-kiwi. I also appreciated seeing both regular milk and oat milk. The breakfast room is attractive and comfortably seats a decent crowd, although mornings can become LOUD. Apparently several guests awaken at 6:30 AM already possessing complete conversational agendas. The gym is legitimately useful rather than the usual hotel punishment chamber containing one treadmill and a dumbbell somebody stole from physical therapy. There are multiple cardio machines, weight equipment and dumbbells reaching about 75 pounds. Very clean and nicely arranged. The indoor pool area was clean, although visually I found the pool itself rather dainty and uncharming. It exists. It contains water. Congress need not investigate further. Now for the deductions. The walls are thin. One neighbor's phone alarm went off around 5 AM. Another apparently believed television should continue into the wee hours. On the opposite side, somebody snored like an overfed cow negotiating a mortgage. One night around 3 AM I also caught the smell of marijuana from outside. That happened only once, but congratulations to the nocturnal skunk delegation. The shower was the other weakness. Water pressure was maybe 6/10, and after roughly ten minutes the floor began backing up because the drain moved with the urgency of California freeway construction. It took around 15 minutes afterward to clear. Yet despite these quirks, I couldn't punish the hotel much. The room was too spacious, the bed too comfortable, breakfast too good, parking too useful, gym too competent and that golf-course view too peaceful. So mathematically I land around 4.6/5, which I'm happily rounding to 5 stars. I would absolutely stay here again. Next time I'm bringing golf clubs because staring at the Montebello course and driving range from my room without playing it started feeling like unfinished business. Home2 Suites Montebello wasn't perfect. It was better than that: comfortable, useful, occasionally ridiculous, surprisingly peaceful and the kind of place that made leaving feel mildly inconvenient. Our room faced the rear of the hotel overlooking the golf course and consisted of the beautiful lake. The room was spacious and clean, and fully equipped with things that make you feel like you're at home: plates, cups, bowls, utensils, + a full sized fridge. Bonus points because complimentary breakfast is offered daily. Hours of operation M-Fri are from 6am-9am. Weekend hours are from 7am-10am. This is absolutely THE BEST complimentary breakfast spread I have ever had the pleasure of taking part in. Granted, most places I've stayed @ doesn't offer this. Here you will find a waffle station with all of the toppings you could imagine, eggs, ham, sausage patties, assortment of cereals, yogurt, fruit cups, and fresh fruit. While I am not sure how great the options are for a vegetarian standpoint but I did notice meatless patties. My complaints: 1)The lighting within the room are positioned horribly. Whether you decide to use the restroom light or the ones located in the dining|kitchen area as a nightlight, they are both extremely bright making it difficult to sleep. My toddler and I struggled to sleep soundly due to us being sensitive sleepers. 2)Someone triggered the fire alarm during our stay. Walking down 6 flights of stairs with a toddler is already tough but adding in groups and groups of other patrons caused for more traffic than I was ready for. Once we made it back to the lobby we were told it was a false alarm. **insert EYE ROLLS emoji** 4 stars overall. Our stay was comfortable and parking was never an issue. Maintenance issues, including plumbing (foul smelling water) and power concerns, took days to resolve. Housekeeping was inconsistent and often unacceptable. On multiple occasions, floors were not cleaned, sheets were not changed, and visibly stained bedding was placed on the bed. Debris was left behind, including someone else's hair and trash, indicating the room was not properly serviced. Most concerning, I experienced insect activity and developed a significant bite during my stay that is still healing. A colleague on the same floor reported similar issues. This raises serious sanitation and health concerns. Despite multiple reports, concerns were dismissed or inadequately addressed at the management level. Rather than resolving the issues, responses were deflective and unprofessional. I ultimately had to escalate this matter to corporate to receive any acknowledgment. For a Marriott property, this is unacceptable and this establishment is unfit. I would never return to this property.

When we returned around 7 p.m., our room still had not been serviced. If you're traveling on a budget, be aware of the additional fees. The website listed parking at $34 per night, but we were charged $50 per night because of an additional hold for potential room service charges. That unexpected cost was frustrating, especially during an already stressful medical trip. We had originally booked the hotel for a week but decided to check out after just one night. He initially told me that he had it, but after his freak out, he told me that he did not have it and winked his eye. He told me that he was going to shred it and winked his eye again and I never got my drivers license back! It was unbelievable. The manager is completely unhinged and should not be in a position with anything to do with guest relations. It was traumatic and truly awful. When I called Motel 6's corporate number, they referred me back to him so clearly they didn't care and nothing was resolved.

The pillows were super soft (too soft for my liking) but you use two or three of them and it worked out great. All my lotions and shampoos were full which usually isn't the case in other doubletees. As soon as you walk in, there were two holiday trees in the archway which was overkill in my opinion. It reached high up to the ceiling. Parking was odd. It's managed by a third party and so you have to pay via the website or app. It requires your license plate. It's about 12 dollars a night. It was fairly cheap and for that, it gave a few bonus points. It's super quiet outside despite its close proximity to the freeway. I may come back and stay again because I do get to avoid the traffic of downtown LA and that mess.
