If I could give this company more than 5 stars, I would. I used their services last year and was BLOWN AWAY with their exceptional service. The two guys (Mike & Chuck, I believe?) moved a 2 bedroom apartment into a tiny U-Haul (I underestimated the amount of things I had) and unloaded my things in the rooms that I specified in under two hours. They moved everything out of my apartment so fast that I had to triple check just to make sure they didn't miss anything - it seemed too good to be true. None of my things were damaged during the move. The house I was moving into had an entire wall of pictures/painting that lined the stairs and not one of them was knocked down or moved in the slightest bit. They even had to maneuver an oversized couch through an extremely tiny doorway. Not only were the movers professional and efficient, they were actually friendly. They held conversations with us while they were unloading the truck (and still managed to work quickly!). I can't say enough how impressed I was with the team we had. I was so incredibly impressed with Friendly Movers that I used them again this year to load a storage container that was placed in my driveway for a long-distance move. The team the second time around was not as impressive as the first but they were still phenomenal nonetheless and exceeded my expectations. None of my things were broken or damaged. They packed the unit so well that nothing shifted during the trek from Pittsburgh to Tampa. The only thing I am upset about is that Friendly Mover's does not serve Tampa, FL! Opposite of friendly. I am sure they can move just fine but I will not refer business to someone that treats my family and businesses that refer prospects to them like crap. They were willing to sever a business relationship with the Pod company that referred us to them after the company called and asked if we could receive our deposit back. They refused and lost not only this company's referrals but also our potential future business to keep a lousy deposit that was never agreed to in writing or thoroughly explained. read more

I cannot say enough good things about Friendly Movers. From start to finish, they were highly professional, accommodating, and definitely friendly! We had a hiccup with our truck rental and Adam quickly contacted the other move they had that day to reschedule us for a different time. It made a highly stressful move so much easier. The movers arrived on time, quickly made a plan for loading the truck, and worked hard and efficiently to get the truck loaded. They wrapped all of our furniture and secured it so that everything would arrive undamaged for our cross country move. Had a very positive experience with Friendly Movers. They arrived on time, packed our truck securely, finished on time, and had their paperwork in order. They asked us to buy nylon rope for securing objects in the truck so there were "no booby traps" for the next moving crew to unload. They took care with our items and our home. I can't say enough great things about Friendly Movers: I would hire them again in a second and recommend them to anyone. They were efficient, reliable and careful, and truly went above and beyond to make sure that our move went well. When we got to our new house, a couch and full size box spring couldn't fit up the main stairs to the second floor (despite the movers quickly removing the banister). We thought we'd have to get rid of both and didn't know what we would do about furnishing our upstairs bedrooms. But the movers were able to remove an upstairs window and hoist and box spring AND our large couch through the 2nd floor window! We were so grateful and can't imagine other movers would have been able to make that happen. We were really happy at the end of our moving day, but ended up calling Friendly Movers back the next day when we had a king size bed delivered: the prior owners had a king size bed on the 2nd floor so we thought that with the split box spring, we wouldn't have much trouble getting it up. But the delivery guys were unable to get either the box spring or the mattress up the stairs. We called Friendly Movers and they were able to come within the hour in between jobs on their very busy Saturday. They removed the railing again and got both the mattress and box spring up within 10 minutes. AND they asked us to pay whatever we thought was a fair price for the work, rather than charging us a rate. I was so impressed with their professionalism, skill and work ethic. If we ever move out of this house, we wouldn't call anyone except Friendly Movers. read more

Friendly Movers were very responsive, responsible and helpful from beginning to end. They went above and beyond and would be my first choice of movers in the future. They were great about scheduling the move, and communicated with us about confirming the time, date and location and were even patient when we were late with the moving truck. Our crew provided plenty of muscle to move all of our boxes, furniture and a heavy and fragile card catalog. Friendly Movers packed our ABF trailer for our big move to Portland OR. Cleared out 3 story 3 bedroom house quickly and carefully. They were very professional, efficient and friendly. We had reserved 24 ft of space in our trailer but these guys were able to pack everything high and tight at 20ft of space! Went over about 0.5 hours but it was worth it. They were very careful with our stuff, mostly music and studio equipment, guitars, amps etc. Everything stayed in place when the trailer was unloaded. Movers from Portland, OR were in awe of the packing job these guys did! The movers who were unloading actually took a much longer time to unload and move our stuff into our single story home so the guys at Friendly Movers are truly professionals who really know what they are doing! If you do hire these guys to pack your ABF trailer make sure you pack and pad your stuff well and buy a few of the e track ratchet straps to hold all your things down. We used Friendly to move our daughter into Pittsburgh for grad school, and were so pleased we hired them again to move her out of her third floor attic apartment. The first time, we asked them to meet us at the apartment as we were driving a U-Haul from another state. They were there exactly on time and worked hard and efficiently to unpack the truck and were careful to put each item in the right place. Nothing damaged or broken. After graduation, we hired them for the second time, this time asking them to pick up the truck for a small extra free and meet us at the apartment. Again, easy to reach by phone, calls promptly returned and on time. This apartment has VERY narrow winding steps to the third floor, and again, they were very careful. . The truck was fully loaded in an hour and we followed them to the storage facility where they unloaded the truck, hauled everything up an elevator and down several halls and loaded the locker carefully. They then agreed to stay extra time at the last minute to move us into a smaller locker as there was a misunderstanding with the storage place on the size of the locker we needed. This was above and beyond in terms of service. Prices are reasonable, they work hard and quickly and get the job done right. Thanks! read more

Saw these guys moving stuff into a house on my street. They backed their truck into a telephone pole hard enough to make the lines shake and knock a city parking sign off. They got out, looked at the pole, and did nothing. After they were done and getting ready to leave, I asked them if they were going to do anything about the pole. They rolled their eyes and kind of propped the sign back up on the pole and drove off. No apology or attempt to actually fix the problem. read more

Mike and Tyler at Friendly Movers moved me over two days in a move that was a nightmare for me to set up due to my old landlord being a total (insert a four-letter word here). They were smart enough to send me the same team both days, so there was no guesswork in how to unload the truck. I have never seen movers hustle like they did. I've hired movers before and Mike and Tyler were the fastest I've ever experienced. They were machines on a hot August day, and friendly/personable on top of it. I own a lot of crap and could only get a 15-foot truck when they had recommended a 17-foot when I set the move up. These guys made it all fit. We talked about what I could live without if I had to leave stuff, but they made sure that I didn't have to. They covered and protected all of my nice furniture and took an antique standing mirror and my bed frame apart and put them both back together. Both days they stayed within the minimum hour quote for the moves and even asked to start early both times. Plus, the prices are amazing. I priced a bunch of places and these guys are a steal. Not to mention, Deb, the office manager is awesome. I must have emailed her 15 times and she never once was anything but completely professional, although I'm sure she wanted to tell me to get bent. This was a labor-only move, with me renting a UHaul truck and insanely stressful for me because I had to do it over two-days, but these guys made it so much easier. Make sure to tip them! read more

I haven't used yelp in years, and I came back to rave about Friendly Movers. They deserve all of the stars. We moved (in-town) from a 3rd floor apartment into a 3 story house. I booked about a month in advance through email which was super easy. The morning of the move, we just had to pick up a truck at U-Haul and they did the rest. Originally I was quoted for a 2-man team, but we have a LOT of stuff so they called another guy to come help. The head mover (I think his name was Charlie?!) was great and made sure that they were going to be done within the quoted time so that even with an extra guy, we didn't go too much over the original price quote. All three guys worked like troopers throughout the morning even though it was as hot as blazes that day, only stopping for a water break a few times. No complaints about stairs (even though i complained about them all the time living there) and they were very respectful and careful with our stuff. We had a couple boxes rip by the time they ended up at the house, but I think it was more user-error (me) in packing than them. They were done in 4 hours for loading and unloading and I couldn't believe it. There's no way we could have had a better group helping us that day. I will only use Friendly Movers from now on. read more

This was a truly flawless moving experience! With a crew of 3 hard-working guys, we moved from an apartment with winding hallways and tight staircases into our new home. Booking was super easy working with the scheduler, and the crew arrived on time the day of. They were super efficient and clearly knew exactly what they were doing. In fact, the guys knew better than my husband and I where all of our boxes were being unloaded to in the new house! They worked very well as a team and communicated perfectly. They came prepared with water and snacks. I think I only saw a single 3-minute break during the entire 6-hour day! The crew was also extremely friendly and easy to work with. I highly recommend this company for your move to/in Pittsburgh! Having worked with several other moving companies in the area, I feel confident saying that these guys are the BEST. It's definitely worth it to rent your own truck with this company and have their crew move you vs going with a subpar company that provides a truck but provides worse & slower service. Just moved our daughter back to NY from squirrel hill. She was only there 9 months and we were not familiar with local companies and I was so fortunate to find Friendly Movers on line. I knew from the first phone call they were the company we were going to use. They were professional in all ways. It was amazing to see how they handled moving all that stuff down 3 flights of stairs. We really appreciated what a great job they did .We did the job ourselves when moving her into the apartment and literally almost killed ourselves!!! I was hesitant to get movers becase of the horror stories you hear ( shady characters, dishonest, unreilable) but these guys were incredible. Wish they were located in NY so we could always use them. The fit everything in my 16 foot truck almost perfectly. Looked like a Tetris puzzle when they were done. Wasn't more then a foot or two space when they were done. Extremely fast and affordable... and friendly! Recommend highly and will use them again if I have to move. read more

This was my first experience with a "labor only" moving service, and I'm so glad I chose Friendly Movers! The crew did an excellent job with getting my (oversized) couch out of my (undersized) front door. My new home has a spiral staircase, so I was a little skeptical on how they'd manage to get my bed to the upstairs loft, but they handled it perfectly. Even though they arrived late (hence the 4-star rating), they made up for it with their speed and efficiency once they arrived. I cannot express how wonderful Friendly Movers is as a company. We moved from a 3 bedroom to a house that has 40 plus steps just to get to the front door. Then it is three stories inside. The 40 plus steps are difficult and steep. We had a crew of 4 guys most of the day and then they called in 2 more at the end of the day because we have a ridiculous amount of stuff. RIDICULOUS amount of stuff. We rented the 26 ft truck and they loaded and unloaded it twice. Twice! They worked 9-9 and barely took a break. We bought them lunch but they ate quickly and kept on going. They were amazing, I think that anyone and everyone moving needs to use them. Not only were they excellent movers they were by far the best priced. I got a quote from another company and they were triple the price. You have to rent the truck ($90 for us) but they meet you and drive it and return it. Again, AMAZING! read more

Very FAST Very good. These guys did an amazing job. They took apart items that did not fit in door ways and covered all the furniture to make sure nothing got scratched. They re assembled items at the unload location. These guys are super strong! One guy grabbed three huge boxes on his back! I highly recommend these guys if you need help moving your stuff to a new home. Just rent your u haul and they will load it and unload it. I used friendly movers to pack my rental truck for a long-distance move. They arrived early, and even brought a 3rd mover! All my furniture and boxes were moved SO fast, and even though we had a delay in getting the freight elevator, it didn't slow these guys down at all-- they just moved everything into the hallway until the elevator arrived. All three men were very professional and friendly (and strong!) and they managed to somehow fit everything in the truck that I was SURE was going to be too small. My movers on the other end of the trip even commented that they were impressed with how well the truck was packed-- every inch was taken advantage of! If I ever move back to Pittsburgh, I would hire them again in a heartbeat. read more

Used these guys on the recommendation of some acquaintances. They packed, I drove, and then unpacked my truck for a local move in two hours flat. I had a dolly or two with my truck and they also brought their own dollies and furniture pads which made things super-fast for moving things on flat surfaces. They also humped my gear up a floor to my new place without any problems, including the furniture. Very friendly and communicated well (e.g. let me know the morning of move that they were coming earlier because their first job was finished, made sure boxes got into the right rooms). Movers were very friendly and did a great job - on the other hand the movers boss wasn't very friendly and wanted to overcharge. I was set up for three movers to arrive at noon. I called at 11 realizing I would need to move the time to 1230 or have the movers meet me at noon at a location 10 minutes from the location previously chosen. The movers and I agreed to change the time to 1230 at no extra cost. As a result the boss of the company called my wife, who just out of the ER and was bed ridden for a week and had nothing to do with the time change, and made her feel very uncomfortable. I was not around for the conversation but my wife said he was rude and obviously upset about the time 1/2 hour time change. When the movers arrived I apologized for the change and confirmed it was ok. At the end of the move I wrote the check for 4 hours but the head mover came back to my door requesting more money and said the boss wanted 4.5 hours and would call the cops on me for fraud if I didn't accommodate. Ultimately, it almost took a yelling match on the phone to get it back to 4 hours. I'm not one to write reviews but I was so disgusted that I felt I have to. If not for the above inconvenience, the movers are tremendous and in fact friendly and I would recommend. read more

this is an e-mail i sent to friendly movers to which I've yet to receive a reply. Adam, your crew packed an abf container for us the end of October for a move to Mckinney Texas. The ABF container, which was in storage since November, was unpacked today. We have numerous pieces of furniture that are badly damaged, and stained(one was a set of 65 year old upholster chairs(not wrapped) that were stained from rubbing against the side of the container) that we're not sure we can get clean. Your crew did not wrap hardly any of the furniture, even though we had over 60 furniture pads for them. The supervisor of the crew that unloaded it said he'd never seen a container packed the way this one was packed. He said numerous times that it looked like the crew was in a hurry, and just threw some things in places to fit. Also things were packed that shouldn't have been taken (some without asking). One of which was a glass rose we had repaired for my daughter, which was in a box marked glass rose, and was found in the container with items loaded on top of it. It is now in 7 pieces, this was a gift from her now husband, that had a lot of sentimental value. We used your company because of the great reviews in Angie's list, and from the Etna U-haul. I think you probably have good crews unfortunately the one we had wasn't one of them. If you want pictures of the damage my wife has them on her phone.
