called to inquire about firewood. was told they had plenty of seasoned logs I could cut and burn right away. they arrived after dark and left a bunch of rotten, wet wood full of metal. I told the guy I didn't want it but he complained that he drove out of his way to bring it and that there was nothing wrong with it. I texted him this afternoon and asked for him to come retrieve his wood and give me my money back. he said "thats not how it works". this individual is obviously unscrupulous. Woodpecker Tree Service does an excellent job. They are quick, careful, thorough and reasonable. Jose gave me an estimate for taking down two very large trees in the back corner of my fenced in backyard. His team came in. They removed both trees and were able to take them out through my gate. Both trees were at least 24 inches in diameter. This is the second time they have done work for me. Both times I have been completely satisfied. Jose is honest, reliable, and stands by his work. They arrived early morning to remove a very large tree in the yard and have the stump removed & roots grind down. This company is very careless with neighbor & your own property. As I went outside to advise them to be careful as my neighbor told me they poked a hole in her screen, some guy said no way we did that the screen is to high for branch's to reach up there he said it in a nasty way. ( also said the neighbor is picky ) To later find out it was the owner whom said those remarks , which never introduced himself to me. Also, the huge tree stumps were falling on the lawn which made big holes to my lawn. Which later the owner wife said she will come back to fix the lawn with dirt & seeds never came back !! Later during the day the job could not be finished cause the grind machine was not working. His wife had mentioned she would call us Tuesday to let us know when she will be in to finish the job. Never called my wife had to call multiples times before getting an answer as to when the job can be finished. This company is very unprofessional very sloppy work. I had 2-3 different times that I was promised an estimate and they were late for all of them and always with an excuse. I was told heavy machinery was going to be used and it was not. The work I explained that needed to be done was not completed. However, when payment was due they were right on top of that. Unless they come back and finish this I will keep submitting reviews to warn prospective consumers. read more

We had to take down a large Maple overhanging RT.46. Several companies called, took one look and must have driven on. Others bid impossibly high - double Woodpecker quote - one actually telling us they didn't want the job. I was skeptical but Woodpecker had no problem handling this huge tree over RT. 46 or the other four trees overhanging the house on the other side. They had their own flagmen, an impressive number of vehicles for each part of the job - stump grinding, bucket truck, chipper, the crane. Make sure you get a quote with specifics in writing. We were told one thing for the quote and the story changed the day of the service. We contacted them for some sort of resolution but they were not willing to work with with us. You would be better off choosing another company. read more

They had verbally committed to removing my tree by the root. They only cut the tree and then told me that the machine broke and would come back to remove the stump. Two weeks and they still have not returned. Today the owner said that the guy returned the 100 he usually charges for stump removal and now he wants more money from us if he wants us to have the stump removed. I clearly told his worker I want the stump removed as my HVAC guy needed that space. Now I am stuck with the stump and delay in HVAC. This company refuses to pick up my call or texts. That company is a ripoff! When they arrive to do the job, they backpedal on the agreed upon service! I was given an estimate for 3 specific branches to be removed and when they arrived, they tried to play me by only do two, and up charge on the third! I had them call their boss and then they were corrected! Then, they gave me a bogus rule when I was handing them their check that if I'm paying by check they add tax! The driver of the large black truck pictures rode on my bumper even though I was doing the speed limit. I braked twice to try and encourage him to back off, but he would not. Once it opened into two lanes he pulled up alongside and gave several rude gestures before tearing off, Only to get caught at the next red light. If this is his lack of safety and courtesy on the road, I wonder how professional he could be at the job. read more

Originally I was impressed with Woodpecker and how they came out to chop down our trees so quickly, and in the snow. All that was left was for them to come back and grind up our stumps which they couldn't do initially because they did not have the machines with them. Jose said they would be back soon. That was February. We had a bad snow storm or two, but the warm weather came and they did not return. We got a follow up call in March saying they didn't forget us and would come by soon but we never got a definite date set up. In April my husband called them to come by to remove our stumps and Jose said they would come by the following Thursday. We requested a different day because we would not be home on Thursday. Jose told us we didn't need to be home for him to do the work. My husband said we wanted to be there and would like another day but Jose kept repeating we didn't need to be there and he wanted to come on Thursday. We finally said it was ok and rearranged our schedules to be home on Thursday. No one from Woodpecker showed. We waited until Tuesday, just to see if they would show up or at least contact us, but they didn't. My husband called again. We were told it was busy but they would come that weekend. My husband asked which day and Jose said he didn't know, but it would be some time that weekend. We kept the whole weekend open. Again, Woodpecker never showed up. My husband called Woodpecker that Monday asking what was going on. Jose said he couldn't make it over the previous weekend and called to tell us but we didn't answer. My husband never received a call from him, and said he would have liked a voicemail but Jose said he didn't leave one. By now we were getting frustrated. The next week was May and we were having a major family party at our house on Sunday. We wanted this work done before this party. Jose assured us back in February it would not be a problem. My husband insisted that the work get done that week. Jose said he would come out Friday, and this time he would call and leave a voicemail if anything changed. Friday came and Jose had to cancel because of rain. He said he would come on Saturday. My husband told Jose we were going to be busy in the afternoon, so it would have to be Saturday morning. Jose assured that it would be. My husband ended the call saying if Woodpecker wasn't there the next morning, for any reason, we would have to go with another company. Saturday morning came and went without Woodpecker showing up. My husband called and cancelled the job. Jose called back a few minutes later. Instead of apologizing he became belligerent with my husband, saying "How can you cancel this job on me? I had a cancellation and I'm on my way to you now." My husband told him how we waited all morning, as well as all the other times we rearranged our schedules, and he missed his own appointment and now we had to go with someone else. Jose then told my husband he never said he would come in the morning, only at some point on Saturday. My husband had had enough at this, told Jose this was absolutely the agreement from the day before and it was the last thing they had discussed, and Jose immediately stopped. Then, when it became apparent that we actually were going to cancel his service, Jose started with the apologies. My husband told him it was too late and he had shown we weren't a priority. I found out later that day that Jose had also tried something shady when my husband first hired him. Although we found him through a coupon advertisement in a clipper magazine, he would not honor it when my husband first hired him for the job. My husband had to tell him we were going with someone else when he suddenly said he would accept his own coupon. It is such a shame. We very much liked this company when Jose came for our initial estimate. We liked that they came out in the snow to chop down our trees. We wanted to give them our business. It is unfortunate that as soon as they had money for half of a job (and we gave them a good review on yelp) the customer service became so abysmal. We had a tall tree that looked like it might fall into the street (power lines there) and were very concerned. Wodpecker came immediately, and mind you, he came out at the end of the day (dusk) and finished the job before it got dark... all done so quickly and simply, we were very impressed. Took my neighbor's tree down. Workers kept walking across my property. I asked them not to walk over my vegetable garden several times. I spoke to the owner Jose to have his guys not walk over my vegetables. After my 3rd conversation with him, he told me his guys are thick headed and don't listen. They trimmed a tree by the driveway, trimmed our bushes, and trimmed a set of 3 pine trees and the top of our driveway.
