Atmosphere is fun, they had good music playing on a Saturday night. We walked right in around 10PM and were greeted at the counter immediately where the staff alerted us they were out of almost all their flavors. They ended up asking us if we wanted "sweet, savory, or minty" - we said sweet and they concocted a shisha bowl for us with random flavors. It was ok, very menthol heavy which we weren't fans off. Kinda stunk that they were out of so many flavors and basically picked it for us. The staff moves the coals for you. They are attentive and come around to you to make sure your hookah coals are burning but they weren't moving the coals around enough for the hookah to burn long and not burn the shisha. We were there less than an hour and at the end our bowl was so burnt we couldn't even hit it. Anyways, we would go back. It was a decent hookah lounge in Louisville. I just hope they have more flavors next time and don't let our bowl burn. read more

Wow! I went to Friend's for my buddy's 25th birthday tonight. After many experiences at hookah lounges around Louisville, Lexington, and Bowling Green; I can say with confidence this location was the dirtiest, and most rude staff I've encountered. Aside from the door man, he was chill. Upon arriving we were forced into buying a second hookah, since we had a party of five, despite two people in our group not smoking. After purchasing both hookahs, we were extremely let down by the lack of flavor. The man at the counter was very hard to work with, and the DJ was stuck in 2012, and not in a good way. Also the bathroom had no soap, and felt like a park bathroom at the waterfront. Only putting two stars for my guy working the door! read more

I do not really smoke Hookah anymore, but I have been to Friend's on numerous occasions. This cafe was, at a point in time, my go-to. After I ventured out to other bars, I eventually found a couple that I preferred.The service was usually hit-or-miss, the hookahs themselves always being fine. One of the main reasons I found myself going elsewhere was the atmosphere; you just never knew how it was going to be until you go there, and it varied often. Some days they would be playing music, dimmed lights, and had it as a relaxing environment, or the projector screen would be used for people to play video games or movies, which often led to the small room being quite loud. Their hookahs are pretty good. They always had a variety of flavors and someone to change the coals whenever needed. The room itself can be cozy to hang out in, with one large room in the back with long couches, and a few couches up front. The service we got re-filling the hookahs was usually good. The service at the register was usually not. This was also something that varied per visit. Friend's is an alright cafe to visit if you are looking to smoke hookah, especially in the Highlands, however it would not be my first recommendation. read more

This is a good place to take a few friends (I'd probably max at four unless you wanna purchase two hookahs) and chat over a well made hookah. There's a few people playing music videos or video games, there's some music playing every once in a while and quite a bit of seating. The cafe is quite dim but once you get settled in it makes for a comfortable ambiance. The one member of staff I came in contact with was quite friendly and very fast. We had our hookah within five minutes of finding a place to sit and when it looked like we were fiddling with the coals he got up and switched them for us without having to ask, which is nice. It's relatively cheap, about $13 and it includes two replacement coals and they have plenty of flavors. We chose mango and it was nice flavor. The hookah was very smooth and had a long life. Overall: I'm pretty satisfied and I'd probably choose this over Cafe 360 any day. It's more of a lounge atmosphere which took me a little while to get used to, but once I was it was actually pretty relaxing. The clientele seem fun and friendly and not as obnoxious as some that you'd find in 360. read more

Very friends staff, great music and atmosphere. Wanted to find a nice spot to chill with some friends after work and was lucky enough to walk in to this establishment; will definitely be back. It is a very easy going atmosphere. Like if you were to go to a friends house. The owners will get you set up with their one hose hookah which can be problematic or costly for large groups. However for one to 4 people its great. But it is one of the better hookah lounges in the ville when it comes to quality. It hits smooth and cool. I recommend the fruit punch. I didn't even bother to look if they had food or drinks. So I will not be basing my review on any of that. Other hookah lounges who shall not be named have ashy uncleaned hookahs which is a cardinal sin when it comes to the art of the smoke. Friends prepares it right. read more

Friend's hookah is not the best and it doesn't hit hard. The food however is pretty good. The atmosphere is friendly and entertaining, very spacious. If you're looking to smoke good hookah, don't come here. The prices are cheap because they know it's not the best. Parking is... well it's Bardstown Road, never the same. read more

Not at impressed with the place. The ambience was very basic, looked like someone just threw few couches and chairs and opened up a hookah place. Mostly college kids came in so I am assuming they are not regular hookah smokers. We ordered a AF Double Apple which was served in an Egyptian hookah with a clay bowl and quick lites. I would not have given a low rating if the hookah was on point but that was not the case. First off no brand options; just AF, Starbuzz and one other brand. Second the had quick lites, will be better if natural coals are served. The bowl itself looked like it could be packed better. One other thing I want point out is they do not serve food but you can bring a takeout. The place overall dint suit our taste, would not be visiting again unless things change drastically. read more

Stopped by here visiting from NY. Place has legit hookah. Trust me -- NYC has over 50 hookahs spots. This is on par. Guys who work here are chill and all about customer service. read more
