Bedbugs everywhere and the place is so dirty you can tell they don't wash all the bedding. Most the staff is nice with a few exception.

This trip we stayed 3 days and were surprised to learn housekeeping doesn't straighten the room during extended stays... no clean towels, made beds, trash emptied... not much competition in Altus and the reviews are no better for them. I guess though, it's time for us to give them a try.

The red decor curtains were short and an entire row of curtains were missing. The room I checked into was 210 and is located directly in front of the building, above the arch. This is the area where hotel guests are checking in/out and driving by so they are literally see into the room. I informed the desk clerk, told her that I could not stay in a room with no curtains and she said there was nothing she could do. I asked what options were available and was advised that maintenance refused to come back to the hotel. She also advised that housekeeping refused to come and no manager was available. I asked if I could move to another room. I was told that no other rooms were available. I ended up calling the IHG Corporate office several times to resolve the issue. After several hours passed and increased frustration, they ended up moving me a couple of doors down to the same type of room I booked. It makes me wonder why they didn't just do that in the first place & told me there was nothing they could do, like I had to just deal with it. An extremely upsetting situation all around, especially after driving from another state for a special occasion. The local staff did not offer an apology or discount. Hotels are responsible for providing safety and security for the guest that pay money to stay there. It's basic. When you pay $761.33 for three nights, you expect the bare minimum. If I could give it a zero, I would. I strongly recommend NOT staying here.

So naturally, when I got the news that I was going to be spending almost 4 months in Altus, I quickly put in my request for a room. And let me tell you, my experience was far better than I ever imagined. Mike and Skylar are absolutely phenomenal landlords. They made the process of booking a room with them super easy. They were always quick with their responses if you had any questions and were quick to fix any problems if they came up with the house. While I was there they were making upgrades to the house and doing some small renovations to make sure we were getting the best experience possible. Not only that but they were there for any questions you had on life after Altus if you needed it as well. Crystal, the cleaning lady, comes once a week to make the place look like new. I had heard of other crash pads having issues with their cleaning lady but never with Crystal. Lastly, The Bat Cave will give you the opportunity to create friendships that you'll carry with you throughout your entire career. Didn't matter if you were a KC-135 guy or a C-17 guy, if you were at The Bat Cave you were one of the bros. Couldn't have asked for a better group of dudes then the ones I got the chance to live with while I was there. So if you're looking for a place to stay, the search stops here. The Bat Cave is the place to be.

The beds were ok, the covers were slightly dingy and thin, so that was questionable. We had to ask for a second cover because we needed those would not keep us warm. The TV didn't work so I had to go downstairs to get assistance. The clerk acted all put out and had to call another coworker to help us. We paid $200 for this room, which was NOT worth that at all! Went downstairs to get coffee the next morning and the breakfast area was a mess!! Spilled coffee everywhere, crumbs all over the place, pretty gross. Needless to say, we did not eat anything. If you see this hotel, just keep on going.

Got to our room and I removed a pillow and there was a long black hair on the bed. Pulled the covers back and it was obvious that the bed had been slept in before. One of the pillow cases was visibly dirty on both sides. Went to front desk and complained and he said he was sorry and would discuss it with housekeeping. We told them we would be checking out the next day and changing hotels for our second night. I literally slept in sweats because I was so disgusted. Complained again the next morning and asked for a refund. Lady at front desk said she was sorry and would speak to a manager and contact us. Two days later, nothing, we emailed the manger including a picture of the obviously used bed sheets. They replied to our complaint first by calling my husband by the wrong name and basically said no refund. This is not acceptable at any hotel! Do not stay here.

Their resolution was a piece of paper on the door that told us to get extra blankets at the front desk. Also, no discount for the inconvenience. ANY other hotel would have either notified us before we arrived and/or offered a discount. Typical Air Force... you're better off staying off base even though it's a little more expensive. The people at the front desk hate their lives, service is terrible and the door keys have a mind of their own. The only reason this place exists is because it's the Air Force and they have a monopoly on TDY travelers. Absolute joke... The room was at least decent..

Also, it is convenient to the little that Altus AFB has to offer. 2 pluses Unfortunately, the place itself is pretty sad. Despite being accompanied they would not give me a TLF. If you have the option get a crash pad. The VOQ rooms are not suitable for more than one person. We had to make it work because of the convenience and only having one car. It is subsidized by the AF and is run like it. People are required to stay there so they know they will have a constant stream of occupancy. It seems they have little motivation to run a quality hotel. The rooms really need updating. The disposal in our sink was so old that the rusted blade broke off in my hand as I was trying to clear the drain. It took 4 calls over the span of 2 weeks for someone to finally attend to it. When they did come they removed the disposal and replaced it with a non-disposal drain. Cheap solution that downgraded the quality of the room as we had to constantly clear the clogged drains. Kitchens are minuscule and sinks are half the size of a normal sink. The faucet is actually longer than the sink so if you're not careful you can run water all over the counter, or floor. This isn't likely to make a difference as far as improvement but if you are coming to Altus and have the option to stay elsewhere, I would.
