After a few years of missing Fright Nights due to restrictions and otherwise, I am very much looking forward to a return. At first, I was a little worried as we got there roughly 20 minutes before it opened. The line to get in seemed to go on forever. However, once inside, it seemed not to be very busy at all. It looked to me like the majority of the people initially all rushed the rides and not the food or haunted houses. DO NOT go unless you get the Rapid Pass. Full stop. Don't go. Yes, it's more money, but do you like standing in lines? With the pass myself, my guest didn't wait more than 2-3 minutes to get into any house. We saw everything at our leisure, enjoyed the freak show and had snacks and dinner. It's all a matter of how much your time is worth. Other tips: Get there right when it opens at 6 p.m. I've always found it actually gets busier, and the night goes on. Don't be freaked out by the initial lines to get in. Take a break and enjoy yourself. It's a long night if you want it to be, so don't rush around. This year, they seemed to take a step toward doing a little more with themes bits of food at numerous stands, including finger hotdogs and special donuts. There was a new house, finally, this year and as much as I enjoy all the houses, I think they should use the money from the amazing crowds this year to revamp the majority of the existing ones. For me, this is just a nostalgic trip which you'll have to factor into my rating. read more

Fright Nights - Haunted Houses Near Me - Vancouver, British Columbia

We were in Vancouver for a few days and one of our friends wanted to go to the Fright Nights, so we did, it was ok, the park is fairly small and they had 8 haunted houses, it seemed more people were interested in going on the rides than to the haunted houses, we ended up going though 6 of the 8 houses before we were ready to go back to the hotel. Haven't been to a haunt in about 20 years but it seems they have become much tamer in our time away. The characters were good but the houses were showing their age as some of the props were in disrepair. Overall it was fun and the price was very reasonable. read more

Dont waste your time or money. 2-3 hour line ups for rides. roller coaster stopped working after waiting 90 minutes. waited 2 hours for another ride before we realized that it was still another 2 hour wait. didn't get to go on a single ride or haunted house. this place is a joke! no customer service just a money grab and waste of time. read more

Don't waste your time and money. We waited over 50 minutes in line to get in. once in, we got in line for the beast (a ride). Proceeded to wait over two hours in line and it was after 11 pm before we got on the ride. By the time we got off they had closed all the lines for the other attractions. Paid $33 each, plus parking.. just to go on one ride. Extremely disappointing, and there weren't even any actors walking around at that end of the park. read more

We have gone to fright nights for nearly 15 years and last night was the worst possible experience. As someone with a disability, walking for 15 minutes to wait in a line for over an hour for tickets purchased in advance, was not what I signed up for. They let so many people in, line ups for haunted houses were over 45 minutes per. By the time we saw 2 haunted houses (930pm) they closed the lines for the rest of the houses even though advertised the park open for 11. We even had a security guard cut off the line right in front of us, even though we had already been waiting. This was not worth the amount we paid. We basically paid 30+ dollars to stand in line all night. Sooo disappointed that this tradition is now ruined for us. Do not recommend. read more

**Attention Yelp robots: this is NOT a review of Playland** Playland, an amusement park located at Hastings Park in Vancouver, is home to the popular Halloween attraction Fright Nights during the month of October. In addition to the amusement park rides, there are half a dozen or so haunted houses. I'm not a fan of amusement parks, so despite beginning in 2003, according to Wikipedia, it wasn't until 2017 that I went for the first time. I went because a group of my friends were going to see one of our friends who was working there as one of the "scarers", so I thought it would be fun to check it out. While I enjoyed hanging out with my friends, it wasn't my cup of tea, as expected. In addition to the crowds of assholes (one douche started smoking a cigarette in one of the haunted house line ups!), the line ups for the haunted houses and rides were ridiculously long, and just getting through the front gates was horrible -- they frisk you and search your bags, and because I am perceived to have a vagina (the staff have no way of actually knowing whether I do or not -- they just make assumptions based on physical appearances), they tried to separate me from my penis-bearing friends and make me go in the vagina line, which was waaaay longer than the penis line, but I made a big stink, including making some very good points about the rights of transgender people, so that in the end they let me go through the line of my choice (also, on the website, it says you can go through which ever line you're most comfortable with, and I am most comfortable with the shorter line). Also, in one of the haunted houses, there was a malfunction with some of the equipment, and I got sprayed with water, so that one leg of my jeans was soaking wet and plastered to my leg, which was extremely unpleasant in the freezing cold end-of-October-late-night weather. I did enjoy the haunted houses (although we didn't get to see all of them) and spending time with my friends, but it was certainly not worth the nearly $40 price tag. (Tickets range from $35 to over $100 depending on the night and type, and we got a small discount due to our friend working there.) However, when I got an invitation to go to Fright Nights this past Saturday, I decided to go, and due to it being opening weekend, the price was a much more affordable $25. This time I had a better experience, although despite being there for four hours, 7pm to 11pm, their opening and closing hours on opening weekend, we only managed to see four out of the eight haunted houses, and we waited AN HOUR (no exaggeration), to get into the last one, which wasn't even THAT great. I enjoyed spending time with my friends, but this is probably the last time I go to Fright Nights, at least for a long time.
