Had a hair cut with Celina and I could not say enough good things about this spot and my experience with her. First off, due to family visiting I had to request a scheduling change and they were beyond accommodating with working with me to get me in. Second, this cute little spot down town has all the vintage Anchorage charm with a small house and a cute boutique attached. Finally, Celina did an amazing job. I simply needed a long overdue haircut. I have extremely thick and very long hair and she was upfront about this costing more which I completely understood, as I've seen this many times before. (But it was so refreshing to have her bring it up before she started cutting and not surprise me at the register). I had my hair cut and colored about three months ago by Selena (sp?). She did an amazing job. The prices they charge for a cut and color match the actual value of the service you receive, which is high end. I've been to a couple of other salons throughout the years that I will not name and haven't been happy with prices that are charged versus the quality of the service you receive. I checked out reviews and decided to give this place a try. I scheduled an appointment with Brittany a couple months ago, and she was very honest about the health of my hair and we agreed I needed to use more healing products and give it some time (it's been growing out from a pink dye job). WOW!!! Kelly is a freaking hair goddess!! So, I went a little nuts and decided to be my own hair stylist at home. I attempted balayage and well, I turned my roots orange and ugly. Celina was such a blessing! Hands down the best hairstylist I have ever had in my life. From traveling around the United States and Europe, hands down the best hairstylist I have ever had. She took her time with my extra thick/long hair and made sure it was perfect. (I have SO MUCH hair! It took her 5 hours but it's because she was SO THOROUGH!!) We had a sweet conversation about our families and she was very caring. After she completed ombré/balayage, she then cut my hair with layers and side bangs to match exactly what I asked for. After months of going back-and-forth on the issue, I finally decided to get the Brazilian Blowout. This is usually a pretty expensive treatment, so I looked at Yelp and CL for deals. Fringe had a discount on the B.B. so I booked an appt hoping for the best. Kassi has been working at Fringe for only 3 months, but you'd think she'd been there for a year! Totally a sweetheart, she made me at ease telling me about the B.B. process. I really liked that they do not use formadehyde, which has certain health risks. People may say if it doesn't have this chemical, it's not a true B.B. Well, I would disagree. My hair is so frizzy and hard to manage, but now it's seriously wash 'n' go! What I really appreciated was that Kelly didn't rush my appointment! It's not easy to bleach and tone your hair all in one day but she made it happen and I love the results! I can't say enough great things about Brittany. I came to this salon on the recommendation of people I work with. I hadn't had my hair cut in a few months due to Covid so I had a fairly blank slate for her to work with. She asked me what I wanted and I told her the main thing was I was having hand surgery soon so needed an easy to maintain cut. She listened and gave me a fantastically easy style that one week after surgery with my husbands assistance I am able to accomplish. It makes me feel good to have my hair looking good even though I'm not leaving the house to go anywhere while I recover. I have been going to Fringe for lash extensions since 2015 and there is no one more talented. I've actually never not had extensions on since 2012 and Lorna takes great care of my lashes. I know many people have concerns about extensions because they "might ruin your natural lash", but Lorna is careful to never overload them, she doesn't glue lashes together, and she's careful when she removes them during fills. It's been 12 years since I got my first set, and I've never gone a day without extensions, and my eyelashes are still very healthy! Even during the pandemic, there was a 10 week gap between my fills, and because Lorna does such exceptional work, I still had plenty of lashes on! I am super picky when it comes to who I let touch my lashes, and Lorna always goes above and beyond. If you have been on the fence about extensions, or are looking for a new lash lady, definitely give Lorna a try! While staying in Anchorage for the weekend, I decided to get my hair done downtown. I found Fringe on Yelp, and I am so glad I went down there. My hair looks a lot better now. The front receptionist was super nice, and was able to get me an appointment 1.5 hours later (since I tried a walk-in and they were busy). Walked down to the mall and came back. Kelly did my hair. She did a nice job overall, except after I had shown her a picture she did my bangs incorrectly first time around. I am a reasonable person, so I didn't go diva when she didn't do what I asked (but we were able to fix it more or less). Got a nice cut for $45. read more

This place is cozy in every sense of the best ways. The salon is cute and warm and so are the people. I had to find an eyelash-extension specialist because my usual stylist was out of town. I was able to book an appointment with Lorna. I saw her work online and felt she was good. She exceeded my expectations and more. It had been nearly eight months since I had my lashes done. During COVID, I did not dare to take a chance. Not until I returned to Anchorage, and after being here for nearly six weeks in quarantine to make sure I was COVID clear. The only person I would trust my lashes and my health with is Lorna. That is, if she would trust I was safe to be close to work on my lashes - to look amazing. I am posting the before and my after Lorna's careful placement of each lash, which she took care to make sure only single lash attaches and not ever have a clump of glue on my eye lid. I have been with Lorna for five years. I would go without any lash extensions if Lorna is not available. She impressed me with the precautions taken to disinfect the air, all hard surfaces and equipment in the salon, strict mask required for everyone entering the salon and all members of the staff. I am posting my before and after so everyone who would like to have a little bit of "normal", to wake up to look and feel fabulous, because I have super gorgeous lashes to rival Hollywood Stars. Any day, the rest of me can be in a torn tee and slub shorts but I am rocking these semi-permanent lashes that lasts nearly a month with great care. They are weightless, natural and do not interfere with my glasses or blur my vision. I receive many compliments for my lashes and when someone asks if they are mine?? After seeing the nice reviews about Kelly, I'm thinking maybe she had a bad day with me? It was the third time I'd had her cut; showing her distinct photo of cut that was shorter in back/ longer at sides, but she didn't do it. She has a habit of turning a customer away from the mirror, so it's too late to catch a mistake. I told her that it wasn't what I wanted while I paid, even leaving an unwarranted tip, but she excused it. I wrote her an email immediately when getting home after a closer look when I was able to see the cut better. While Kelly is nice and takes appropriate time with client, I think it speaks to a person's character when they do not respond to a personal message. Because of the lack of owning up to a mistake and ghosting a person, I have changed my opinion and will not return. read more

I have been going to Fringe for at least 2-3 years now. I first went there just because its close to my house but then I met Brittany who is legend at what she does & im hooked since then. She is one of the hairstylists. She listens, tells you what she can do with your current hair situation & gives you the best results. Imagine how hard to trust someone when it comes to hair cutting or dying; with her I'd do it with my eyes closed. I also got eyelash tint & curling from Rachel 2 times. Besides being extremely kind & comforting; she has done an amazing job with my lashes. I'm really claustrophobic & I was almost 9 months pregnant when I first met her. I have been to Fringe three times since I've lived in Anchorage. The first time was for a cut, blonde highlights, and eyebrows with Megan. She did a great job on all of the above, and is very friendly. I looked like a vibrant, dirty blonde in the end, which is just what I asked for...I wanted it to look natural, not streaky, and it did. Megan also gave me an updo for a military ball that was the best I've ever had. She managed to keep it just how the picture looked...loose and natural looking by using just a curling iron and bobby pins, and it stayed in all night. I was really impressed by this. I have long hair, too. It didn't look like your typical, over-sprayed, plastic prom do'...which is great since I was 28, and I just can't pull that off like an 18 year old can :) The last time I was there I was in need of much TLC after no cut for 10 months of deployment to Afghanistan. Brittany gave me back my style and some self confidence by doing an all-over darker tone with some lighter pops around the crown. She also added in some longer layers. I love the darker brown she chose for me so much, and will continue with this look for at least a few more visits. I like to change it up fairly regularly, but she sold me on this one. She did a really good job. The main drawback with Fringe is the price. The salon has a "hippster" vibe, and should be considered high-end for Anchorage. Unfortunately this atmosphere comes with a price no matter where you are...especially in Alaska since this place is fairly unique. You can count on paying a lot here, but you can also count on walking out of there feeling good about yourself. You can trust that they're going to do a good job. The service is excellent. read more

If I could give this place no stars I would. The receptionist was very unprofessional and was not doing his job right. I booked with them online and as soon as I walk in the receptionist doesn't look me up but proceeds to ask me if I'm sick. I wait in the waiting room for two hours just for them to tell me that I'm in the system and I do have an appointment but we've got to reschedule my hair appointment for next week. I was just so shocked because I came 20 minutes prior to my appointment and to top it all off I waited 2 hours for my hair cut that I didn't get. While I was waiting the hair dresser that I was booked with didn't even really seem busy but was walking back and forth. I was livid when I walked out of that place and never again will I go back. I did however find a hair dresser that was willing you squeeze me in last minute. The place was koala's hair company and he did an amazing job. So if you guys are on Yelp I do highly recommend koala's hair company. Edit: If she denied my request shouldn't I get a call? And email? I did not receive any emails that day. I know cause when I was sitting down for 2 hrs I had checked to see if you guys had emailed me... You guys didn't. It's crazy that you're telling me that I wasn't on the schedule cause the receptionist clearly stated I was before I had left. As for COVID restrictions how was I supposed to know? I did not receive any calls in advance telling me that and no where on your website states that. For the whole crystal situation I had said "I think so, it's my first time here." For my first haircut in Anchorage, I stopped into Fringe on a Saturday afternoon as a walk in. "No problem," I was told and I was in the chair in 2 minutes. This is a small operation, located in a house on a corner in downtown, but they do a nice job on a men's cut, with a shampoo, for $25. Coming from New York prices, that's pretty good for a scissor cut and an hour in the chair. read more
