Oh my gosh this beautiful new vintage co-op on the Pointe-Claire Shopping Centre is an absolute…read moreheart-breaker just packed, packed, PACKED with true treasures. If you are a collector you must go check this out. Ten different vintage collectors created a cooperative to share this spot and showcase their most rare and cool and lovely things. This is killer 50's and 60's Canadiana, true nerdy fun gorgeous collectible glassware and toys, and so much more. The prices are fair, it's not cheap but its not overpriced either for what you find. It's such a cool addition to this great, classic small town shopping centre. It's in the spot of Ted's Hobby Shop which would make me very sad because that is an incredible wonderland, but apparently Ted's just moved to a bigger spot in the new section of the mall so no worries, just more goodness to go around.

I heard about these West Island thrift shops a little while ago and was so excited to go check them…read moreout (this is a review for the Beaconsfield one but there is one in Ste Annes and one on St Charles as well.) The NOVA thrift shops are stocked by donations from all over the West Island. They are non-profit organizations run by the Order of Nurses and all the money raised goes to their charitable activities: "The primary mandate is to provide specialized care and support in the home to cancer and Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) clients during the course of the illness and particularly in the palliative stage. Other programs include bereavement support for children and adults, adult day centers, home support services and foot care clinics. ALS and Alzheimer Caregivers Support Groups are also available." So that's wonderful and merits all the stars. This NOVA location has furniture, some really gorgeous old tables, chairs and lamps at super reasonable prices. There's also a great collection of books, clothes, kitchen ware and other treasures. The other two NOVAs don't have the furniture, and the one in Ste Anne's had the most exciting dishes and ceramics and fur coats. If you love looking for secondhand treasures these are sweet spots in beautiful neighbourhoods that feel like old villages, a surprising break from the city just a 20ish minute drive from downtown. The staff are as friendly and dedicated as you might imagine and everything they have for sale is clean and high quality. Lovely spot to donate your goods as well! All the love for NOVA.

Practical Neighbourhood Mall. Perfect for Essentials…read more Les Jardins Dorval is an underwhelming shopping mall on the edge of a residential neighbourhood, and does its job in so far as it has a lot of family conveniences and essentials -- a Walmart, SAQ, Pharmaprix, etc. If you're looking to do some recreational (or therapeutic) shopping, though, there's not much to see here. In fact, if you don't live in or frequent the neighbourhood, you'd be hard-pressed to find an excuse to spend your shopping dollars here.

Don't ask me because I didn't go round the whole place. I've been there before and it was a little depressing but boy it was nice and bright and shiny. i like the jewelry stores.. oh i was in the little luggage shop, I was very impressed with the quality of the luggage and the prices were very good. The one by the post office, their prices were very good. That's not where I bought my luggage though. I bought mine at Walmart. They have a big pharmacy, and the Bay is in there... Overall I'd go back there to shop and I'd spend a lot more time."

Honestly it has change my closet I love to go thrift shopping but I come home to discover a broken stitch or a stain. I love that before making it to the shwapclub they have been inspected one by one. You still need to check your white because of fondation stains. I have been trying to have a more minimalist wardrobe so I pack a few bag of clothing items and give one to my sister and keep the other one. I love that any items is a credit, purse, jeans, bikini... not every item you will bring will get accepted they have to be in great condition, in saison and have style. They have 6 change room for you to try on before you use your credits. They accept any brand other then ones that have been closed. To make sure things are still up to date. You can pay for a membership or every time you go. The owner is so lovely, she was there to help tonight.

How it works: Go through your closet, looking for gently worn clothes, shoes, purses and/or jackets. Like that gorgeous dress you bought on sale at Zara but don't really fit into anymore. Or that neon shirt your favorite aunt got you for Christmas but you never wore. As the saying goes, one woman's trash is another woman's treasure! Bring your goodies to Shwap Club, where a lovely girl will sort through your bag and give you one credit for every item that makes the cut. That means clothes in good condition without holes, stains, etc. Pay $12 per visit or $85 for an unlimited annual membership. Then, start treasure hunting! You can leave with as many items as your # of credits, no matter the type of clothing. The store is neat and cozy, with a mid-century sitting area in the front and curated clothes separated according to category and color. The experience is relaxing yet thrilling, as I never know what I will find. Updating my closet without spending a dime is awesome, but most importantly I'm glad that Shwap Club has made me more mindful of my spending habits, helping me contribute less and less to mass consumerism. It's made me that much more appreciative of our planet.
