First she didn't wash my hair so she can blow dry first and then do the waves but she started right away curling them . I let her trusting the fact that she is professional and know what she is doing but the result was horrible . Not even one curl . I felt so bad all the engagement. I had wanted to try balayage for such a long time, and eventually go for a more drastic blonde look, but was always too afraid it was going to look bad or not colored right to look good with my skin tone/other dark features. I found 2w Hair Bar after polling other folks in a neighborhood Facebook group about where they go for balayage and color services. Several recommended this place. And now I see why! I've been to Josh twice so far in the last 6 months or so - the first time he did an all-over hand-painted caramel balayage, which I LOVED. I've never gotten more compliments on my hair (by total strangers) than I did after I got that done. The second time, we moved on to an all-over foil and lightened it up even more. I was suuuuper scared but figured it's just hair and I could always change it if I hated it. But I loved it! A close (but very opinionated) friend of mine said I have a "blonde bombshell" look going on and I knew I made a good choice. Love the decor of this place - it's updated, on trend, bright and clean. They offer coffee/tea/water while you're getting your service done so that's a nice touch. Maybe some bubbly in the future, guys? :) It's a popular place to get hair done, so it might be a little bit of a wait to snag an appointment, but it's worth it. It's hard to find a stylist who you can trust with your hair but I'm glad I gave Josh a shot. I did a trial before the big day with Krysten for hair and Cat for make up. I liked them so much I started going there for regular haircuts, too. Instead of asking broad yes or no questions like "do you like this" or "what do you want," they had more targeted, specific questions (i.e. "for this portion of the eye do you want to go darker or lighter? Because this gave me the safe space to make decisions based on the vision in my head, all while using their professional expertise to get there. I had my trial the same day as my second engagement shoot. Due to having to post pone my wedding a whole year because of COVID, I had to find a new MUA. Leia did an amazing job and did exactly what I asked for. I ended up having my hair styled by Krysten because logistically it was easier than driving back and forth for makeup and hair since I live almost 40 mins away from Pompton Plains. Krysten did a beautiful job of styling my hair with curls and giving me a simple braid in the back to keep my hair away from my face. I ended up coming back last week to get my makeup done and my hair curled for my birthday and they did an amazing job again. These ladies are truly the best at hyping you up and making you feel beautiful. Even when I first met them they were super welcoming and it never felt awkward. The salon itself is GORGEOUS. The decor is so nice and you can tell that everything is brand new. They sell a bunch of hair products and random cute gifts. I ended up buying these adorable macaron candles that I gifted myself for my birthday. I'd highly recommend anyone to give this salon a try. Oh and I almost forgot to mention the best part. They have a NESPRESSO MACHINE!!!! Not only do they make you look your best they treat you with a nice warm latte.
