That immediately made sense to me because I didn't see a barbicide jar or any visible sanitizing setup in the room where my facial was performed. And when they stated the price, it was $20 higher than I was originally anticipating per the pricing online. They asked if I wanted a receipt, I said yes to check it but they only handed me the credit card slip. I asked for the itemized receipt and the lashes were an extra $20. At no point did the makeup artist mention the up charge and I was a little taken aback. A friend of mine came in after and I mentioned the lashes to her and she opted out of them. I was frustrated as I literally had lashes in my purse while sitting in the makeup chair. I wish I had the option to pay the extra fee instead of not being warned. I mentioned I didn't get my makeup done often so this wasn't something I was expecting and it wasn't listed on their website that lashes were extra when booking. I stopped in on a Monday around 5 p.m. with my 3-year-old and 5 year old but only my younger son needed a very basic haircut--just the sides cleaned up. The establishment was completely empty. An older man and woman were sitting in their chairs scrolling on their phones. When I explained what I needed, the gentleman at least got up to check whether they could take my son. While he was checking the system, the older woman repeatedly insisted that I needed an appointment and seemed visibly annoyed that I had walked in. At one point, she said she would need to use clippers, which would have been fine if her tone wasn't completely annoyed by having to accommodate a toddler. The whole interaction was unnecessarily uncomfortable and confusing, especially given that there were no other customers there. What really stood out was that shortly afterward, a white family walked in and was taken immediately. At that point, I decided to leave. I won't speculate about their intentions, but as a customer, I know how the interaction made me feel. Customer service should be welcoming and respectful to everyone who walks through the door. You truly never know who is walking in, what business they may bring, or who they may refer. It's disappointing because this could have been a simple haircut and a positive first experience. Instead, my boys and I left feeling unwelcome.
