I'm glad I didn't read the reviews before I found Bernie's at the Brussels midi train station. We…read morewalked through the whole station looking for something to eat for a late lunch. There were many organic and vegan type places, or your standard fast food "takeaway" counters. But then we found Bernie's and based on what we saw, we decided to eat there. Couldn't have been more surprised and pleased. The bun did have a lot of seeds on but it was delicious, soft and large enough to cover the burgers. My husband had a double burger and it was very good. I had the lamb burger and I loved it. The fries were fresh and hot. Yes we paid a little bit more than a fast food joint but we felt like we got more. We had no complaints and would go back again. BTW, even though it was a counter service, the service was friendly and efficient also. I have found that a smile and courtesy always are returned in kind.

It's kinda pricey and it's kinda just okay…read more I like the concept and where this is going or would have gone. It certainly seems like it'd be better than Quick. Sadly, it's pretty rough around the edges. The burgers look good. Like they should look good, but when you get them they kinda look sad. Maybe it's the lighting? Or how they're made? Or the excessive amount of seeds in the bread? I don't know. The bread actually seems like it'd be appetizing and for the most part my meal was pretty good, albeit more on the experimental side of flavor notes, in my opinion. I wanted the Veggie burger, but was quickly informed it was out, so opted for their "new" Crispy Chicken. A majority of Bernie's menu is beef patties with only two non-red meat options. Maybe their beef burgers are better than their chicken? I'd have really liked to have tried the veggie though, but oh well. Anyways, the chicken was a standard chicken filet of the frozen processed kind. You know the drill. The breading was really greasy, but the sandwich itself wasn't bad. I'm used to chicken sandwiches being a bit more simplistic in condiments and toppings usually the mayo and lettuce drill with an occasional tomato thrown in. Bernie's crispy chicken had a tapenade with a honey dijon, red onion, spring mix and more. This just sounded good. I was pretty excited, but it ended up being an odd composition of flavors. So what? It wasn't for me. Still decent meal. I also ordered fries which scored me a cone from Fritkots next door. They don't seem to share a grill exactly, but if you get fries in your order it'll be from them. Fries were okay. I'm not sure how great Gare du Midi food court fare can get since so far I've been rather unimpressed with a lot of it, but if Bernie's can sort the rough edges they'd be a really nice option.

The owner is so passionate and friendly and tries to strike up a conversation with every single customer, no matter where they're from. I thought the customer service was next level. As for the sandwich, I want to preface that I don't eat regular sandwiches. I'm super picky and usually just get meat and cheese. NOTHING else. So his sandwiches weren't really my style. They looked very good but I know I wouldn't enjoy it if I just ordered off the menu. He puts a ton of fruits and cheeses into your sandwich and asks a bunch of questions of what you like before putting it together. I went for a blue cheddar cheese and since I wasn't getting anything else, he cut a gigantic chunk for my sandwich. The only downside is I think the only meat he uses is small salami slices. He put in triple the amount he usually puts but the cheese still took over the whole sandwich (I ended up buying more meat from the grocery store to fill it up). Every sandwich he makes is the same price and comes with a drink. I wanna say that his normal sandwiches are probably amazing. Mine was okay after I added all the meat into it. I also didn't eat it right away. But I think the customer service itself should receive 5 stars.

There were 4-6 people in front of us. It took us about an hour waiting. I hate to keep harping on the wait time but setting expectations is key. There is even a story posted on the window about the wait time. So why the wait? Tonton Graby provides individual attention. You can order off their limited menu or just talk to him about your feelings, likes, and dislikes. From there, you get a tailored cheese sandwich exceeding any expectations you might have built up. You don't pay until you've at least tasted it - even if you opt'd for take out. "If you don't like it, I'll eat it" the owner will tell you. You might opt for fruit or veggies on top. You can add meat. There is a small area to eat in if like us you were in no hurry. A sandwich with meat ran 9 euros as of this writing. They accept credit but prefer cash. Enjoy!

We came here a bunch of times on our first visit to Brussels way back in 2013 when there was barely any vegan food around. We thought we'd return for a cheap meal. Currently, it's €7 for a falafel: you get a hearty whole wheat pita, with four freshly cooked falafel balls; then it's self-serve at the salad bar where you can fill your pita plus another small plastic container with various low-quality salads, hummus, hot sauce and other condiments. The pita and falafel are actually decently quality, but the salad bar is pretty lame; I guess I shouldn't expect much for the price. All in all, decent cheap falafel joint, but don't expect high quality.

Eat a salad while you wait. Fill up your pita/refill your salad. Have your 4.50 Euro ready. Leave fully satisfied.

Sweet curry, buffalo, barbecue... not ketchup and mayo. The line was long -- like the whole city had the same craving at the same time. Total Spider-Man meme moment... everybody pointing like, "Oh, you're me? You're me?" The fries were fresh -- not sitting there waiting on somebody. They cook them to order. You literally see the raw fries, then the cooked fries, and it's like an assembly line. One guy takes your sauce order, the other guy repeats it back like telephone, and you watch it get passed down and checked. You get hype listing sauces and then they hit you with, "Only three" before you get too crazy. Service is quick and friendly. They don't ask a million questions because it's simple -- we sell fries and sauces. What do you want? Ambience: tiny walk-up, as small as a food spot can get, but it works. No yelling, no "my order is wrong," none of that. There are tables out front so you can sit, eat, and people-watch on a nice night (or day). Amazing experience. Would absolutely recommend.
