Since I was in Belgium (which is the country that invented french fries if you weren't aware), I knew that I needed to check out some good friteries around the city. There were some recommendations online for Fritteria Tabora, and since it wasn't too far from us we decided to check it out. It's a small shop that is to-go, and there was a long line that we waited out of for around half an hour. When you order, they'll essentially scoop the fries out of the oil and put it onto a plate for you. Afterwards, you can order different sauces to try it with. They recommended the Andalouse sauce, so we decided to get that one. I have to say that this was probably the best fries that I had during my trip in Belgium (esp after trying it at like 8 different places), so I think that it was worth the wait. These were the most crispy and had the most satisfying crunch overall so far. Even though the line might be long, if you want to try out what Belgium is known for then I think it's worth the wait.
Belgium created the French Fry. Their method is a bit different, in that they usually par boil, then fry. They serve them up in paper cones. This place had some awesome frites! They have 35 different dipping sauces! I tried the curry ketchup and harissa. Wowtastic good! They do other things but that's 90% of their business. Tables outside, it's a very long line with a shop so small there's no room to stand and wait for your food. Star down for the clerk at the register with all of the warmth of the arctic circle in January. I know it's a crap job, with hundreds of people all day, in your face. Find a little more grace, or a new job!
Okay okay I had to try Belgian fries but unfortunately the only halal Belgian fry place was this MEGA VIRAL one. Shoutout to them for being legit the only ones using halal beef tallow. What makes fries Belgian are that they use beef tallow to fry them. Here, like in other fries places in Belgium, they're cut to order and loaded with as much or as little sauce as you want. That being said, I don't actually get the hype. I've had a ton of fries in my life from a variety of places and nothing really stood out to me about this place. I guess I expected something to be different taste wise or texture wise but it was a pretty standard thick fry with sauce. They're not making sauces in house or anything so nothing special there. Not sure why this place went viral but not worth standing on the line for unless like me you can only have halal. It's nice that they're open super late too so they get 4 instead of 3 stars from me for the late hours and being halal but otherwise they're a 3/3.5 tops.
Made to order and pretty delicious! I appreciated their extensive sauce selection. Did the Dallas and the andalouse! One had a nice kick! Must try when in Belgium
We came right before lunch and there was a small line. The store is REALLY SMALL and there's only 1 person working so be patient. We got the fries with andalouse sauce and a cheese ball. The andalouse sauce was recommended by the staff there. She was recommending it to the next people as well. It was really good and strangely addictive. It's hard to describe how it tastes. It's very savoury and creamy. Just try it - it's good. The fries are crispy and not overly fried Skip the cheese ball - it's not very good. No cheese flavour and it's boring. Would recommend you try the fries with andalouse sauce
We saw fries all over and knew we had to sample some ourselves. With a wall full of sauces to choose from you'll surely find one that suits your taste. Not knowing which one to go with the staff helped us narrow down our choices, to which we decided on the house sauce. It was tangy with the slightest bit of heat. But the potatoes themselves were the real star of the show, they were crispy, thick and fluffy on the inside. Even when we got towards the bottom we found the chips to still be crispy. Be sure to stop by and pick up a cone of chips!
Just decent fries, but nevertheless the best I've had in Belgium thus far! That said, my comparison set are the brasseries at which I've been dining, rather than super specialized frites shops. I was lucky that there was barely any line when I arrived. There may have been at most 4 people in front of me. I ordered a small fries, which were 3 EUR, and added their most popular andalouse sauce for 1 EUR. The fries were a decent portion, the perfect size for a snack. They were piping hot, crispy on the outside, and soft on the inside. However, they started to get soggy after only about 10 minutes. I'm happy that I asked for the andalouse on the side. The mayo-based sauce was creamy and slightly spicy, and there was so much that I will have leftovers to spread on a sandwich! Service was pretty crummy - the guy taking the orders was quite rude. I'd expect nothing more from a fast food frites place in such a super touristy area!

It's a small take away shop with a few tables and chairs outside. Only 2 staffs were working and later that day there was a long line. We received our order of small fries within 10 minutes of being in line. They had a ton of sauces. A bit overwhelming especially since I've never heard of or tried most of them. When asked the staff which was their popular sauce, she offered us a sample and the recommended andalouse sauce was a great choice. It's 1 euro for the sauce or 1.5 euro for double the sauce. The standard is 3 pumps of the sauce and we felt that was just the right amount for the small size. The fries were crispy and fresh and just how I expected Belgium fries to be.
There is always a line out the door for this place, every time we've passed by it. But don't be deterred, the shop is small. We got there at around 5:30 on a Thursday and waited about 10 minutes. We ordered a large frites and it was so good. It's the perfect size for two people without leaving you feeling greasy. Sauces are €1 for a single or €1.50 for a double. There are sooo many sauces to choose from. I didn't even know what most of them were so we went with the Samourai sauce because judging from the huge almost empty tub, it seemed to be the most popular one. It has a kick to it and reminds me of spicy mayo. You definitely need double sauce for the large. I just wish they layered it instead of pouring it all on top. That would probably be my only gripe. Other than that, it was a cheap and delicious snack, perfect for eating while exploring the city.

Then it's lathered with sauces, mostly mayo based. It would have been better if fries are sprinkled with salt, garlic salt or ranch powder and the likes first before dipping in different sauces. Also I would prefer sauce on the side so fries doesn't get soggy and soft.
Cool spot to enjoy some fries. They have two sizes, petit and grand. They also have about 16 different sauces to enjoy with your fries. They offer more food on their menu like burgers, baguette sandwiches, and other options. They have indoor and outdoor sitting. The service is quick and the food is good.
Was recommended as one of the best places to get French fries in Brussels by our walking tour guide. We found it and were amazed by all the different sauces you could top your fries with. I just had simple ketchup but overall the French fries were very good. I would recommend stopping there if you happen to walk by. But be aware that there will probably be a line, but it goes pretty fast.
Wasn't what I was expecting but I appreciate the variety of choices the menu offered. The line was very long and service was average. We sat outside and I'm grateful the weather and ambiance made up for the lackluster fries.

A great spot to grab some classic Belgian fries while exploring Brussels. The fries were hot, crispy, and there was a ton of sauces to pick from. It's definitely popular, so expect a bit of a wait, but the quality makes it worth it! The only seating was outside, but I'm just happy they had somewhere for us to sit! read more

Nothing in this world brings me more joy than French fries. Actually, let's take it a step further -- nothing on this planet brings me more joy than French fries with multiple sauces. Sweet curry, buffalo, barbecue... not ketchup and mayo. The line was long -- like the whole city had the same craving at the same time. Total Spider-Man meme moment... everybody pointing like, "Oh, you're me? You're me?" The fries were fresh -- not sitting there waiting on somebody. They cook them to order. You literally see the raw fries, then the cooked fries, and it's like an assembly line. One guy takes your sauce order, the other guy repeats it back like telephone, and you watch it get passed down and checked. You get hype listing sauces and then they hit you with, "Only three" before you get too crazy. Service is quick and friendly. They don't ask a million questions because it's simple -- we sell fries and sauces. What do you want? Ambience: tiny walk-up, as small as a food spot can get, but it works. No yelling, no "my order is wrong," none of that. There are tables out front so you can sit, eat, and people-watch on a nice night (or day). Amazing experience. Would absolutely recommend. read more

Amazing fries! I was between the andalouse and samurai sauces, but the lady behind the counter told me to go with andalouse (most popular). Delicious! I waited in line for maybe 15 minutes. read more

I will forever think about my visit to Belgium and these fries I tasted! Fresh, crispy, tasty, simple. The line was long but it's worth the wait. There's one person pushing the potatoes through the machine to be cut and another person doing the actual frying. It was enjoyable just to watch them work while waiting, so the wait didn't feel terrible at all. So good! read more
10/10 Belgian fries. Thick cut, crispy, and delicious. When we visited, we got lucky to find a pretty short line. We were in and out in less than 5 minutes. They had a huge selection of sauces, and the staff was helpful with picking out the best fit sauces for us. For those who don't prefer the sauce directly on the fries, request it on the side and they will provide it in a small container for dipping. Overall, great fries, good service, and a good time. read more
I dream about these fries. The constant lines at this place are justified. Local favorite as well as tourists visit this frites place like no tomorrow. Belgium is known for its frites. Honestly I'll make this my meal any day. I've been to Friterie Tabora multiple times and it's good each time. They make fresh batches of fries constantly. They have a ton of sauces to choose from. Don't be boring and pick ketchup. The employees are super nice and will recommend some if you are confused. If you don't want it smothered on top, you can indicate that you want it more towards the side. But come on your eating the famous frites, enjoy that sauce while you can. They do have other food choices on their small menu but they are known for the frites. It's not a sit down restaurant, only tiny place for pick up. Enjoy those frites while you walk the city or grab a seat on one of the outside benches near by. ~ read more

These are good fries. Since they're the only fries I tried in Belgium, I can't say how they stack up to other local places, but I can tell you're they're well fried and crispy. They have a ton of sauces to choose from, so choose wisely. I was boring and just did mayo, which I deeply regret. My husband got the curry sauce, which was far superior. Service was quick and you pay at a convenient little kiosk. If you're near here I suggest checking them out. read more

Our tour guide recommended this place, and it seemed like it was a hit with locals and tourists, so we stopped for lunch. The line was pretty long at 2pm, but fast moving. I got the small frites for 2.50 euro, and they make them right in front of you - frying it once, then twice, before salting them. Our tour guide also told us to get our frites with paprika (it's free!) and it was so good. The frites were deliciously thick and hot, and the portion was so big for the price. read more
This location is one of the best to enjoy Frites in Brussels. The national food of Brussels is potatoes and fries are what they serve best. At Friterie Tabora you have the option of more than 20 different sauces to put on your fries. Besides fries they also make some really nice sandwiches if you have the appetite but a big serving of fries is usually good enough to cover a meal. On our last two visits we went to this place and every time they had a long line queuing into the small shop. On the most recent location the lady working there was from Lebanon and she confirmed that the meat is halal so the next time I get there I want to try their sandwiches which they also put fries in. Give yourself at least half an hour for this frites place. Lines are always long but worth the wait 5 stars all the way. read more

When in Brussels, of course you are expected to follow the fries man scent and seek out some of the best frites you can have in town. In this case, a cheap cone of fries can be yours for barely €3 with all the right fixings here at Fritterie Tabora. People rave about the fries at this joint so it was a no-brainer that we would need to come check it out for ourselves. Inside the small shop, you see tons of chopped spuds all ready to be thrown in the fryer to be deep fried and served. You select your size and the kind of sauce you'd want drizzled on top. I usually go for some garlic aioli and it did not disappoint. Fries were crispy and sauce was bomb as hell. Eat it once or twice while you're here because you can never have too many fries in Belgium. read more
All the components of great fries...nice and crispy on the outside, tender and potato-y in the inside! There was a short queue, but somehow it was quite fast even though it was entirely staffed by one incredibly nice woman who was taking orders, making the fries, and making suggestions on the best sauces (which is the house sauce, deliciously creamy and subtly spicy) to complement the expertly crafted frites. Each order is ridiculously fresh and will make your day! read more

Fries are definitely one of my top favorite foods so I definitely was going to try the fries while I was in Belgium. These fries definitely did not disappoint! They were freshly fried and so so crispy. I can't quite place my finger on it but something about the fries made it more unique than fries I've had elsewhere. I got the ketchup and mayo sauces, which is a classic combo. Definitely come here if you like fries even a little bit! They're super cheap so definitely worth the try. read more
Our first Belgian Frites were the best Frites! Yes, its within a touristy area, but there was always a small line with a mix of locals and tourists. You can see the cook double frying the Frites as they should be. Seems pricey by American standards, but 2.50 euro for a small and 3.50 for a large is the norm in Belgium. read more
