The gentleman owner was keeping the store open after hours when he saw the large group of bike riders milling about at Odie's. Well, that garnered him at least two sales. Many small stores in small towns such as Ely look the part of someone just trying to follow their dream, with little preparation and know-how, but this shop is different. It is well decorated, with careful thought as to how merchandise should be displayed. It is not a bare bones, quickly thrown together place, ala those that are just open for the Christmas season. You know the type. They have a nice selection of clothes geared to Hawkeye fans, Cyclone fans, and bike riders as well. The clothes for cyclists are not biking clothes, rather normal shirts, etc with a cycling motif. They also had merchandise very suitable for baby showers. We made a return trip two days later to pick up a U of I jacket that my wife liked, and the woman on duty was very nice. All in all, a very nice addition to Ely.

Great gender neutral, feminist, LGBTQ and Iowa items. New items are constantly being added, including local pieces. The space is beautiful, airy and bright. SERVICE: Staff, including owner Macy Krall, are always very helpful and extremely welcoming. I don't have kids myself so it can be hard to pick smart choices. PRICING: Very affordable. I recently purchased more than half a dozen items for a friend's newborn and spent just over $120. The books and small accessories are especially extremely well-priced.

They had some really delicious salted caramels when I was in so I bought a few of the individual pieces. It's definitely worth a stop if you're in Galena! Shopkeepers are really friendly too. Some other staples include high quality candles, organic soap bars, decadent hand-creams, and luxurious lotions! Galena apothecary introduced me to the Sea Aster hand creme which I now swear by. I always have a travel size in my pocket! Some other amazing purchases have included candles inspired by different scents found in national parks and a Rosebud Apothecary keychain (yay Schitt's Creek references). The staff are always kind, helpful, and knowledgeable. They've helped me get connected with the best products for me. And I've LOVED how they have maintained protective COVID safety protocols throughout all of the pandemic through today. Thanks for keeping us safe! They've got something for everyone, and it's super fun to walk around the store and interact with the staff and the games. They've got a ton of stuff that you can play with while you're there, and the staff knows about everything there to offer up opinions on all their items. We stop in this place so often that I've lost count. Their content changes so heading in there is normally going to be somewhat of a new experience, and they've remodeled a bit to make it even easier to walk around and check things out. This place is normally super busy, but I did manage to get some pictures since we were the first ones in. It's absolutely a place to support, and they put in a great amount of effort to make sure you have the best experience in a brick-and-mortar store. It's a challenge to not leave with something in your hands. If you have kids, I'd say it's not possible - at least with mine :D

We both love to browse the selection, read some, then make some choices. Jason, the clerk, welcomed us as we entered and asked if there was anything we we specifically looking for. We smiled and told him we're browsers who've been here before and we're searching for some special reads. After about 45 minutes of browsing we found our choices for this trip. Six books and two note cards(plantable seeds inside) for less than $150. They are always welcoming and have a great variety in all categories. So happy they are in Galena.
