I interviewed 3 local Nipomo storage facilities. This was over a lengthy period of time as I had not found a place to move to yet & was not sure what size I would end up needing. I finally rented a storage unit at the end of October & can't say enough good things about the employees' particularly Destiny who was extremely patient & flexible & helpful with my changing situation. This month is the anniversary of the loss of my 45 yr. collection of antique fine jewelry, custom cowboy boots, antique sterling silver concho belts, designer purses, etc. were stolen on 10/30/2019 by the previous manager Karen who had been working for Frontage for over 10 years. I asked her the reason she hadn't retired yet and she told me she had the "perfect" job, being her own boss, the only one there... so would never leave. She was so nice and complimented me on my antique 1890's gold slide chain I was wearing when I checked in. She exclaimed she loves antique jewelry. I couldn't help but notice she had small feet(MY size) and commented she has small feet for a tall woman, and she agreed. I was renting for several months but just placed my most expensive items in storage for the 2 weeks I was going on vacation. When I was ready to move out of my unit, the only missing items in storage were my most expensive collections which she hauled away in the 2 large bags they were in. In addition my LV wallet with $300 and my driver's license was also included inside the jewelry bag. From when I moved out In less than 3 WEEKS she retired!! She could easily retire with what was stolen. Better than robbing a bank. I actually wrote her letting her know I was offering a substantial reward but received no response to my letter. DO NOT trust any valuables in this or any storage unit and do not rent a unit here where you cannot use your own lock. Every day I have PTSD over this major lifetime loss. Aside from the fact I was locked into the storage facility for an hour after access hours with no phone number posted to call for help, the facility is clean, friendly, and easy to get to from the freeway. I went in to inquire about rates and the lady behind the counter (Reginia) welcomed me and asked how she could help. I asked about the rates and she walked me through the entire process. She explained everything so that when I left I literally had no questions at all. I knew what to and what NOT to expect and how much it all cost. I went home and checked out all of the things she told me I should be aware of and then returned today to rent the unit. All very professional and well presented. I like this kind of service. Me and my husband have had this storage unit at Nipomo Frontage storage for over a year now and i couldn't be more happier with the price and with the management team.. also every month we get a courtesy call just for a friendly reminder of the monthly bill and if I know I'm going to be late they give you a pretty decent lead way on that.. I have been using this facility for several years. I recomend the facility to friends who are in the area. The hours of operation are good and the employees are very helpful and friendly. If there is a change I need to make it gets done quickly. When I forgot to make my payment they gave me a call before there was a late fee added and if I needed to hold of an extra day to make my payment they were able to do it. I don't have to worry that anything will happen to my items in the unit I have. read more

Yesterday I drove past this place and noticed a sign on the side of the building that said "Move in Special!" Well, I was in need of a storage unit, not big, perhaps a 4' X 8'. I went in to inquire about their pricing, since their website doesn't show ANY pricing whatsoever. Upon entering the location, a woman glares at me from behind the desk, and says 'yes?' quite uninterested, and I tell her I would like to inquire about renting a unit, and what the move in special is. The reply? Oh well we don't have any specials right now, I have one unit available right now its $210 a month. Wait what? I haven't even told you what I want, and secondly, you have a sign on the outside of your building that states you have a move in special. 'no, there's no special right now, I need to speak with my lot manager to make sure that's taken down.' wow. OK, well, do you have anything smaller, and more affordable? She replied that they have a 4' by 9' upstairs unit available, for $75 a month. Are you kidding me? What a ripoff, Found one bigger unit in Santa Maria, 10 miles away, for 19.99 a month, and first three months were free. This storage place is HORRIBLE, go elsewhere! read more

I found the staff at Frontage Self Storage to be extremely helpful and worked with me when I was expecting a delivery of items on a day that they are closed (Easter). The manager accommodated my needs and I was able to receive all of my things as scheduled. The grounds and the units are very clean and secure. I'm not sure how much effort the person doing the review who said he could find no pricing online took to look for prices, but I was able to find the prices before I contacted them to set up my rental. Also, I like the fact that you are able to reserve your space online. read more

My experience was awful with this business. the facility in Nipomo is new, and relatively safe, however Kathy, the silver haired asst manager was a total problem employee who had a very demeaning attitude and made some very nasty remarks to me when i asked her to make change, calling me "stupid". When I asked that she be terminated, they moved to evict me and used my private emergency contact information illegally. I am in the process of taking Optivest incorporated (business that owns the storage facility) to court over moving costs and damages. I am very disappointed in Reginia, she seemed so friendly when i moved in, and has developed quite a nasty habit of making rationalizations about why she has engaged in a campaign of annoyance and outright slander.
