Such a fun and cute museum! The kids had some fun! I love history and the fact this was indoor and outdoor, it was so perfect! Recommend this spot! It's $4 per person and kids under 5 are free. There summer hours are until 7pm! We got here at 5 and finished at 6:30 pm! read more

Searching for places to take the kiddos and came across this small gem. Don't let the small place and very descent cost out of nowhere fool you. It may seem small as i would rather call it small yet full of surprises. We didn't expect much from the limited pics we saw online and very little reviews here. Being only $4/pp, we thought we would finish going around the place in 15min. The kids had so much fun we were here for way over an hour! We have been to many museums throughout the years and I would put this as one of my favorite within the small community for many reasons. $4/pp is very reasonable for what this place has to offer. Kids 7 and under are free, extra yay! They have many interactive learning activities for kids plus a self guided tour at each section/station. Due to it being the holidays they made a scavenger hunt using the 12 days of Christmas song such as "can you find 5 golden rings?" Pretty cool. What is extra interactive for kids is the frontier home or school house outside the museum give picturee opportunities and can actually touch some of them antiques (WITH CARE please people). By actually giving visitors and the kids the chance to explore and actually touch some of the antiques, means alot, so please respect it so many more people can enjoy it by preserving them well. Im grateful others did, so we could. They're mini little gift shop at the entrance has cool things also. Couldn't help myself but to buy a few things and even those are very reasonably priced! The Frontier Homestead State Park Museum in Cedar City, Utah, houses old vehicles, artifacts and buildings from Iron County's history. It was called "Iron Mission State Park" until 2009. The fee is $3 per person, but if you are staying at a nearby motel/hotel check with the front desk because some of them have half off coupons. Also, sometimes there is a promotion where Tuesdays are free. I had a lot of fun looking around this place! It took us about just over a hour to check out things. There were nice people willing to answer questions about anything we wanted to know. The oldest log cabin in the county is preserved here along with a school, house, and farm equipment. Inside the building are several carriages and early horseless carriages and interpretive displays. If you have kids then this is a great place to stop because of the many interactive displays. They can pan for gold, make puppets, and there is a sheep shearing shed! If you have toddlers then you will want to check the schedule for Preschool Story Time as well. If you are in the area then stop by! Hours are Mon - Fri 9 am until 5 pm. Closed on Sunday. read more

I love learning the history of little towns, so when we saw this museum on our way through Utah we stopped. Definitely worth it!!!! The price was a heck of a bargain at $3.00 per person. The staff was friend and museum was clean and well kept. I downloaded the QR code on one of the exhibits and we were able to take a what seemed like a personal tour. It was awesome the narrator described not only what we were looking at but, how it was a acquired, any modifications and use. I learned a lot about stage coach wagons and early homesteaders of the time. So if you have a smart phone down load the QR reader and take the self guided tour. I am super glad we stopped! read more

What a great park! We saw the train and tractor from the road and stopped in. This is a great place for kids who need to run around, at least, if you get there when there's not a lot of people. Inside there are about twenty different types of stage coaches--you can even go into one. They have a small area about life in Cedar City and the importance of tourism from the 1900s when people first starting going out to see the National Parks (Cedar City is about an hour from Zion and Bryce, and not to far from the Grand Canyon). Outside, they have tons of old farm equipment, an old lodge, and a 1900s house. The tickets for two adults was under 10 and kids under 2 are free. They also have a small book store and other unique gifts. read more

Had a great time here with family members aged 1 to 37. Well worth the $4 cost of admission. You can set aside an hour and never get bored. The classic cars, model covered wagon and historic photographs were really memorable. The train set and Morse code transmitter were fun for kids. read more

Was passing by Utah through Cedar City, I enjoy museums and saw this place through Yelp so I decide to check it out! It was great they have an indoor museum and then the outside cabins that you could walk through. The lady at the front desk was friendly and welcoming, the cat at the front desk is soo adorable! We weren't really in the mood to see a period exhibit, but really enjoyed the museum. It has a wide range of very interesting vehicles/buildings/exhibits and we were glad we visited. This gives a great view of the life of those times. read more

I came in eager to see the museum and the history of the West. I was disappointed that the buildings were all locked up. For travelers, who knows when I will be back to see the rest? None of the staff present were willing to take a photo for me. I would have liked to have gotten some photos especially around the wagon & sleigh. I don't see the point of having interactive displays if no one is willing to take a photo. read more

Wife and I come to Cedar City every year. Finally stopped by to take a look and we liked it. It's important to see history and get glimpse of things before Starbucks and iPhones. Nothing wrong with either one of those but sometimes you just need to slow down and look around. read more

My husband & I moved to Cedar City in August 2016. We finally made our way over to this museum. We were pleasantly surprised. The museum has so much history. We literally took over 2 hours walking around & checking everything out. I took a whole lot of pictures & then printed out & sent to family in different stare. If you come to town, I highly recommend stopping here & checking out this museum. Our ancestors & the past told are so interesting. read more

I picked a day out of our 7 day vacation to the Duck Creek Village area to go into Cedar City and explore the area. The museum was formerly called the Iron Mission Museum. This takes you back to the time of the region's first settlers. They had indoor displays of modes of transportation. When we arrived and they noticed we had a child they told us of the Wells Fargo stage coach we can actually get in and sit. I was first worried since it didn't seem to be kid friendly - but I was totally wrong. They ended up having a hands on area inside and they had a train set which was a replica of what Cedar City used to be. One of the volunteers came and told us the history of the area. Then we go outside and there was a school, log cabin, line shack and even a jail and much more. There were volunteers working reading a story to children in the school and then the kids got to wash clothes the old fashioned way. There is a gift shop at the front of the story with old time favorites. We bought wooden pick up sticks and wooden tops. What I thought we would be in and out in less than an hour ended up being over 2 hours. I highly recommend going here. read more
