It used to be occasionally used (up until 2019 and pre-pandemic) by the little league system in our town. Its owned by St Christopher's Church nearby but there's little action now from residents or church groups. While families use it for the occasional baseball practice, I don't see much action going on here. Parking is trouble. It's entrance is rocky and you park on grass. Not many places to park exist - especially when things get hopping here. Two strips exist on either side of the entrance and stop before it rounds the bend at the back of the field - near where the bleachers exist. Any player hits a hard hit baseball out of the park and some could see damage being done - but that's seldom likely to be needed with little leaguers here. Then theres the fact that the stands aren't covered by any overhang and fans often get wet. A good unexpected rainstorm and you can get showered unpleasantly that isn't pleasant to wear. The grass is still neatly trimmed, and it always looks clean cut. Because this place sees people close together, its hard for people to come back together in this ill-severed world. Its been expected that people stay six feet apart and people near this place are doing a good job abiding by that policy - even if that means no games being played here. Theres no lighting here, so people only come out during the day to play. Even during pre-pandemic times, therss never been lighting here, so its play at your own risk.

Fast…read moreforward to '24, it's the Kingston that's nothing like the bare-bone streets from early 2000s. It is now a city that's a bustling hub of food, art, culture, and so much more. With a rich history to begin with, Kingston, NY has almost become a melting pot of global cuisines, offering locals (and visitors) a broad range of dining options. From casual food, upscale Restn'ts, to hole-in-the-wall bars, there's something for every taste and not to mention, budget. Add to that nice tapas+wine spots, Italian joints, sushi- you name it, it's almost here. I love my small hometown because of its quaintness and sleepy feel. I also love that the only franchise in town is a CVS; everything else, is very mom-n-pop. Since I don't live in this city, I find myself doing more errands+shopping at many big box stores and don't mind the 15 or so minute drive from home to come here. While I do get nostalgic about the last 22 years I lived in White Plains, the best thing about moving to The Catskills is that I get to live in the small town hubs and I always imagined living in. But I also get to explore outside of my hometown and come to Kingston and visit some neighborhoods I haven't yet.

Last year was better, as the weather cooperated and the grounds didn't get flooded. This year was difficult. Everyone that came to support ended up with shoes filled with mud and water. Definitely wear wellies if it's going to rain - can't run in those though. All in all, it was a nice experience once we got through it. It was definitely better when we didn't have to contend with the mud. I would do it again. They're very organized and did their best to keep everyone safe from the lightning (although many people just did not listen to the instructions from the staff).

Yep, that's the entrance to Little Deep where a small stream goes over a man-made dam that makes for a wading pool and some seating on the rocks in the shade. Note that it is NOT the side of the road with the green space on Google Maps. About a half-mile walk, maybe ten minutes, along the well worn path through the woods. Just follow the sound and you'll get there, as we did. It's an easy walk but there are branches and roots to step over so it is not wheelchair accessible. There were a few kids swimming in the water, some adults supervising, an unleashed but very friendly dog, and a general good mood from everyone.
