I already reviewed the Joseph Bruno stadium separately, so I guess this is a review of the baseball team itself. We saw a game recently where they got an early 4-0 lead and maintained it through the end. The team was professional and a lot of fun to watch. Sure, this is minor league, but it means something to these players. The mascot, "Southpaw," really seemed to enjoy his job. He interacted with the fans throughout the game and spent lots of time taking pictures and picking on the Yankees fans. I really should get here more to watch baseball, as it is a cheap way to have an enjoyable evening out. read more

Tickets prices are very reasonable. Stadium is great. The organization makes it a point to get families and children involved. Food needs work, everything tasted like it was sitting around all day. Gift shop for t-shirts, hats, pennants, and other souvenirs. I would consider again next year. read more

We got together on Friday evening 6/15/18 for Father's Day with my son's family. We went to the Tri City Valley Cats game at Joe Bruno Stadium. We had easily purchased tickets online. Sell out crowd & HVCC construction disrupted parking but only slightly. Local band was playing before hand at the entrance. Good seating. All seating has good sight lines. Seating capacity 4,500. This team was the NY-Penn League champions in 2018. This is a short season A league affiliate for MLB's Houston Astros. Every home game has a promotion, field activities for children, contests between innings, and assorted other kid-friendly activities and the team's mascot, a cat named Southpaw. Food and drink are very reasonable ex hot dog & beer $7.00. There are better than average choices ex sausage & pepper sandwiches and a selection of local craft beers.There is also a covered picnic area that can be reserved for catered corporate events on the first base side outfield. The best deal for weekday evening games is the Family Four Pack. Four admissions, four programs, four hot dogs, & four sodas only $40.00, cheaper than the movies. And post game fireworks. Clean, safe restrooms. Plenty of helpful staff. Good marketing locally. A recommended experience. And as the say at the stadium "Vamos Gatos". read more

These games are loads of fun and very affordable. We paid $6.50 for very good grandstand seats -- but be sure to ask for the left field side so the setting sun isn't in your eyes! One tiny complaint: the food was completely mediocre. In a day when ballparks are great places to eat, "The Joe" is lagging behind. Not saying it was bad, just not as good as they made it sound on the website. Perfectly acceptable brats, dogs, and burgers. Don't bother with the chicken spiedies or the salt potatoes -- which were not salty. Searched for the BBQ; didn't find it. Thumbs up on the beer, however. Huge 20 oz. microbrew for only $6?! Nice small ball park on the campus of the local community college. The place was packed and could not get the good seats ($12), so had to live with the second best seats ($10). They love their cow bells there. I am use to them being at hockey games, but not a baseball games. While in the beer line was about to get my picture with Southpaw. Got to love $5.50 Heineken cans. The beers and food were reasonable priced. It was nice that there were beer venders going into the seating area. The mayors race was too funny. read more

I love going to see the Valley Cats play when they are in season. The Joe Bruno stadium is a large, clean ballpark located on the HVCC campus with plenty of parking. The ticket prices aren't too bad and there are actually decent food and beer vendors. Most nights there is some kind of promotion going on and there are fireworks at least one night a week, sometimes two. While single-A short season baseball might be a far stretch from seeing the pros, it's a great night out and one that won't break the bank. read more

This is just a great, fun experience, and totally affordable. There are a range of ticket prices that make this a night that a family can swing. Even crazier, all the prices inside are reasonable too! From the food to the drinks, it's actually possible to be able to afford a ticket, a meal, and a beer. I can't help but contrast that with seeing the Albany Devils play at the TU (my winter go-to), which has pretty much become an unaffordable experience (if you're hoping to do more than just see the game). It's a great experience. Lots of fun, bump into friends and family, a tremendous value. It's beautiful, clean with no bad seats. We go at least 7-8x a season and would go more if our schedule allowed. Food is uneven, though the very low price makes up for it. Avoid the Top of the Hill bar as they serve nothing but crap beers and three dollar waters. The stadium itself has plenty of quality beer scattered around (Browns, Goose Island, others for the same as the Tops awful Coors lite). Who actually drinks that stuff, anyway? Kettle corn, Hembolds hot dogs, sausage and peppers, pizza and burger stands , this small stadium has it all for a price that's hard to believe. A great place and a gem in the area. Nice Park but they really need to get some security going. Had premium seats behind Home Plate and night was ruined by a Group of people behind us who obviously got free tickets because all they did was talk very loudly like at a reunion about every thing but the game. Put up with it for 5 innings, went to the usher to complain all he said was "I am sorry" So we left. Why go to a Game if you don't care to watch it, take it to the Parking lot and Party there. PS Third time we got this situation will not go back. read more

Best ballpark at single a level. Was amazed with food quality at park compared to years past. First stop for me when entering park is Browns. Great beer and great service from the ladies down there. Next is Buddy's which is the best food I can remember it ever being. The bearded young guy is very very funny talking to I assume his regulars. The ushers are also very helpful. The tall older Italian man was very funny and helpful. All around great people and food. Worth the money no doubt! read more

This was my second visit to see the Valley Cats play at the Joe. For starters the parking is plentiful and free. Ticket prices range from $5 advance grandstand to $12 premium box on game day. The stadium is extremely clean, the food is average for this type of event, and the prices are fairly reasonable. They have activities like bounce houses for this kids if they aren't captivated by the game. So I give them 4 stars because this seems to be a good place for a family night out that won't break the bank. read more
