The first time I saw Little Skokyo it was like I was looking at something straight out of a…read moreJapanese anime cartoon. The paint, the roof, everything about it seemed so cool. When I saw it was a food truck, my interest was peaked. At first, I thought to myself "I've had shave ice & snow cones before, how good could it be?" Seeing the long lines & crowds patiently waiting for their chance to order told me they knew something I didn't & this was going to be different. For $5, you can get any flavor shave ice you want, or try a mix of Cherry, Blue Rasberry, Lemon, Pina Colada, Blue Rasberry, Tigers Blood, or Rainbow. You can also add some condensed milk or sour spray to boost the flavor for an extra $1. They have an ice machine that shaves a solid block of ice into the perfect textured pieces. The portions are big enough for two people to share or you can just keep it all for yourself lol For my first of what would be many visits to Snokyo, I went with Cherry & Pina Colada. It was awesome! There is something about the texture of the ice & the flavors that just made it taste so much better than any other I have had before! I later tried their famous rainbow which is a mix of multiple flavors. I am slowly working my way through all the different combinations I can come up with. I haven't tried the condensed milk or the sour spray yet, but those are definitely on the list. One of the coolest things about Snokyo is that it's a small family run business. They're always smiling & spreading good vibes wherever they go. At some places where it's really hot, they even give out free water bottles just to show love to the crowds. Little Snokyo can usually be found at big car shows in south Florida such as Cars & Coffee in West Palm Beach, but I believe they do private parties & events also. Snokyo's very active on Instagram with over 5,000 followers so following them there to see where they will be next is probably the best idea if you're looking for them.

This was my second time at a Vampire Penguin; the first was in South Carolina. Our daughter asked…read moreus to stop in while we were in the area and the second time was even better than the first. The staff were so nice and polite. We each got something different, I got the Snow Thaiger, which was a Thai Tea snow with some condensed milk and Oreo crumbs. It was delicious. The shop is very clean with fun decorations befitting the Vampire Penguin aesthetic. It was very nice to sit and enjoy our treats inside. We look forward to coming back when we're back in the area.

If I could give more stars I would. Not only is the shaved ice yummy and they have so many flavors…read moreand not only is the ambiance so fricking cool; they have coloring pages for kids! But the best thing about this place is HANDS UP OR DOWN, the service, and the cookies. The owners had to have come from heaven or something my boyfriend loves chocolate chip cookies and he in turn has turned me into someone who likes to enjoy them, but this place, has turned me into someone WHO LOVES THEM. The wife (I am so sorry I forgot her name) makes THE BEST COOKIES OF MY ENTIRE LIFE. We will drive an hour and a half just to satisfy our chocolate chip cookies craving. This Easter she even made sugar cookies that were so professionally decorated and sooooooo fricking good. She doesn't use shitty ingredients that isn't needed and nothing about those cookies tasted artificial. Yesterday we called to see if we could have around 3 dozen chocolate chip cookies because yes they are that good idc what anyone has to say to the contrary. And sadly the wife wasn't in so I was only expecting my boyfriend to come back with the 9 they had left. But the husband put in the work for us and made us the cookies! So I was surprised with sooooo many! If that isn't excellent service idk wtf is. And to top it off they also had brownie cream pie cookies and when I tell you my taste buds had a party in my mouth. I am NOT over exaggerating. Oh my god it is so good. I'm not even a brownie person really but my good god. These brownie cream pie cookies are like worth participating in the purge for. I don't think I can ever quit sugar now. They deserve all the business in the world. She can take custom orders and catering orders but make sure you definitely call at least a week ahead because I'm not sure everyone will be as lucky as we were yesterday but these cookies need to be eaten EVERYWHERE.

So a friend found this place based off their IG page so I was skeptical. I was even more skeptical…read morewhen I pulled into the parking lot which is quite dilapidated and many of the store fronts are empty. However, I know from traveling that some of the best spots are ones that appear to be a hole in the wall. I walked in, very cute inside! Staff was welcoming and I cozied right up at the bar to wait for my friend. I was immediately brought chips and salsa and a cold beer. We ended up sitting at a high top and our waitress suggested that I try either carne asada from the Mexican menu or Vaca Frita from the Cuban menu. I love me some carne asada but I was intrigued but this 'fried shredded beef' that was marinated in mole and cooked in a hot skillet until crispy. She suggested sweet plantains to go with it and white rice with beans which is traditional Cuban (instead of yellow rice). IT WAS FABULOUS! It was crispy on the outside and juicy. The mole was flavorful but not spicy and i appreciated that the meat was not dripping in sauce. My dinner date ordered chicken tamales which were seasoned in a Cuban style with yellow rice. She is used to Mexican tamales but said these really hit the spot! The only blemish on the nice was her second margarita which was the cucumber one which she didn't like at all. However, the first one she ordered (pictured) which was a different flavor was a show stopper.

Came here for a celebration of life for my great uncle who loved tacos. I love that they have both…read moreCuban and Mexican dishes and the restaurant is spacious. We had a very long table and the servers were great in getting our orders. I ordered the Horchata in the lunch special, Lechon asado. The Horchata was delicious and not too sweet, which was great. I really liked my lechon asado. It was a good portion but the one thing is my plantains were pretty burned. I also got to try some of my mom's tacos. And those were yummy as well. Would come back!
