So a friend found this place based off their IG page so I was skeptical. I was even more skeptical when I pulled into the parking lot which is quite dilapidated and many of the store fronts are empty. However, I know from traveling that some of the best spots are ones that appear to be a hole in the wall. I walked in, very cute inside! Staff was welcoming and I cozied right up at the bar to wait for my friend. I was immediately brought chips and salsa and a cold beer. We ended up sitting at a high top and our waitress suggested that I try either carne asada from the Mexican menu or Vaca Frita from the Cuban menu. I love me some carne asada but I was intrigued but this 'fried shredded beef' that was marinated in mole and cooked in a hot skillet until crispy. She suggested sweet plantains to go with it and white rice with beans which is traditional Cuban (instead of yellow rice). IT WAS FABULOUS! It was crispy on the outside and juicy. The mole was flavorful but not spicy and i appreciated that the meat was not dripping in sauce. My dinner date ordered chicken tamales which were seasoned in a Cuban style with yellow rice. She is used to Mexican tamales but said these really hit the spot! The only blemish on the nice was her second margarita which was the cucumber one which she didn't like at all. However, the first one she ordered (pictured) which was a different flavor was a show stopper. read more

Came here for a celebration of life for my great uncle who loved tacos. I love that they have both Cuban and Mexican dishes and the restaurant is spacious. We had a very long table and the servers were great in getting our orders. I ordered the Horchata in the lunch special, Lechon asado. The Horchata was delicious and not too sweet, which was great. I really liked my lechon asado. It was a good portion but the one thing is my plantains were pretty burned. I also got to try some of my mom's tacos. And those were yummy as well. We had a very good lunch here. They have quite a few lunch specials at good prices from which to choose. My husband chose to order their burrito. And as I'd been craving a Mexican style shrimp cocktail, that's what I ordered from their regular menu. They start you out with chips and a slightly spicy salsa. I'm not sure why this combo is always addictive -- but we were hungry. My husband got ground beef for his burrito. It was jam packed -- all inside the flour tortilla -- with meat, rice, red beans, lettuce, pico, sour cream, and cheese. He said it was very good. My "cocktail" was excellent and refreshing. Tons of fresh delicious shrimp in a tomato/ketchup based sauce with pico and cilantro. Slices of ripe avocado were layered on top. I added a bit of sugar to cut the acid -- as I do to most tomato based dishes. I'd been craving this dish and was totally satisfied and more. Discovered this restaurant through Instagram ads. They're home of the soft serve margaritas! I ordered the taco salad with steak which had an up charge of $2 and the guava margarita. They were both delicious and have me excited to try the other menu items. Happy hour is served daily from 2-6pm. Lunch in a plaza with other restaurants we have tried before, off the North side of Forrest Hill. Plenty of close by parking and easily accessible. A friendly greeting and invitation to sit anywhere we wanted. We found a four top table with comfortable seating and good lighting to look over the menus. Stopped in late night after a movie, which seems to be a popular time to visit based on other reviews. I sat at the bar and it took a bit to receive service, even though I was seated right in front. It wasn't overly busy, so it was noticeable but not enough to be a major issue. I ordered a mangonada and the pour was light. Since the drink was made directly in front of me, I addressed it, and it was corrected. For food, I ordered the birria tacos. They were cheesy and flavorful but could have used more meat. Overall, they were good, just missing a little something to make them stand out. The restaurant is located in a strip center, which is typical for the area. The space itself is a decent size for the location. Parking is plentiful and right outside the door; so close dude complimented me on my car. Overall, it's a reasonable late-night option. I am so happy I decided to try this place. I ordered the Birria Quesadilla, that came with a side of consommé, and a side of Fried Sweet Plantains, and they were delicious. We decided to try a new taco spot for taco Tuesday/happy hour and La Cabana did not disappoint! All of the food was absolutely delicious and well seasoned. The taquitos were my favorite and they were the perfect blend of crispiness on the outside with creamy shredded chicken filling on the inside. I also like the cheese empanada very much. The happy hour drink menu is decent and as far as the flavors of the drinks- they tasted good and were pretty strong. The happy hour food menu was also good. So nice I had to do it twice! I think this is my favorite Latin Grill in Palm Beach. It's very clean and nice. The decor is so cute. The ladies on Sunday are always nice and sweet. They give you free chips and salsa while you wait. The Cantorito is my favorite drink! It's so refreshing. They also make a nice sangria, Paloma and mojito. They have an amazing happy hour. A great find! Treated our mom to her favorite, shrimp tacos. Saw this place on social media and took a gamble. Inside it has such a cool decor. They def took their time to make it as authentic as possible. The service was okay, two girls running the floor and bar. They took a while to get to us after we got seated, and there was times we waited to ask for drinks, napkins and etc. I don't know if maybe they have more staff on certain days. But the food was great! The chicken wings, the empanadas, the tacos, and the guacamole. They do give you a complimentary salsa and chips but no free refills on it. I found it weird when we ordered guacamole they didn't give us fresh chips or even a refill since it was another item, paid for. While some are paying for mediocre service and sub par eats, we had two wonderful women making sure we were accommodated at all times. I knew this building looked familiar! It used to be a donut store, and the retro 50s architecture is still present in the shape of the building. Located on the East side of Dixie, the building is set back, with a covered patio area extending from the building west towards Dixie. Thus, sitting in this covered area it is almost pleasant, with the sun blocked. I can't remember what I ordered for myself, but I ordered breakfast burritos for both of my kids. My kids tried them but didn't get very far, so I did end up finishing theirs; I found them filling and tasty. I met friends here for breakfast, and the patio made for a nice place to eat and talk. This place is a hidden gem! It's buried in a typical strip mall (for the area), which means the outside may or may not convey what's going on inside. This is definitely the case! The inside is adorable and Instagramable (not a word, but completely understood)!! In addition, this restaurant has a very friendly, attentive and competent staff. Now, let's get to the good stuff: THE MENU! The menu is truly a mix of the best of both worlds (i.e. Cuban & Mexican)! This is from cover-to-cover/cocktails-to-desserts! They have a terrific offering of different margaritas, replete with all types of tequila as well as flavors. No basic, lazy, super sugary and unimaginative drinks here! The same goes for their mojitos. They really have captured the best of both worlds. It feels as if the owner (or whomever designed this place and its menu) came from passionate parents who came from both Cuba and Mexico and loved them equally! This is the perfect blend to me because Cuban food is generally lacking the spice that Mexican food has. This place removes that aspect. They have a homemade hot sauce that is muy caliente and delicious! I ordered the ham croquettes (6) and birria queso tacos with a small side of guacamole. The croquettes might be the best ones I have ever had (including when I was in Spain!). The birria queso tacos were equally delicious and came with a tasty dipping broth/sauce. The guacamole I ordered was a small side order - my only regret is not ordering more! It was so fresh and perfectly chunky and smooth. I only wish I had a bigger appetite at the time (or more people with me) because the menu has a plethora of great offerings! I cannot wait to go back so I can try the other items, including their coffee and desserts! Moreover, their prices are so reasonable, it compels me to drive a little further to go here.
