That was good so I knew if I would like it and did not waste my money. I did learn the hard way about how to pay. I ordered and nowhere did I see a sign about cash. Lady handed me the cone and I said OK and I go to hand my card and she said we don't take cards. Now they have a made cone and I do t have cash. Thank goodness I was with friends they paid for me. I love this classic ice cream treat joint Leave your credit card at home and bring cash! There's a drive-through and two windows for ordering. The staff is super nice and efficient. I love that there are tons of benches and tables outside, some in the shade. Soft service is king here, and they usually have a few flavors to choose from, but the choices don't end there. Tons of candy toppings, sodas, syrups, dips (hard shell chocolate, cherry, or butterscotch), ice cream sandwiches, frozen bananas, slushes and the list goes on...... Great prices on soft serve ice cream. Can get busy but worth the wait. Like stepping back in time a decade

Is this the best ice cream I've ever had? Of course not. It is, however, a delightful stop on a summer day with prices that are nearly impossible to beat. Everything is bright pink and the menu is surprisingly large for being a walk-up window ice cream stand. I ultimately went for a childhood favorite, a chocolate cone with a cherry dip. A medium is huge, and while tasty and photogenic, I couldn't keep up with the rate at which the ice cream melted. I used literally 10+ napkins to stanch the drips, but the soft serve was melting quickly under the waxy cherry dip and I couldn't consume the coating fast enough. If I'd had a plain cone I think I would have managed to keep the dripping at bay. The cherry had a very fake flavor that I didn't love as much as an adult, but that doesn't surprise me considering it's bright red magic shell. The chocolate was a mild ice milk chocolate, but nice and creamy. My boyfriend got a chocolate/vanilla twist cone and our entire bill came to $3.75 flat. There's plenty of seating, though do be aware that many of the tables are at the heads of parking spaces; I had my back to a spot and had no idea a car had rolled up on me. Luckily the stopped with enough space for me to get out. There is a drinking fountain on the right side of the building if you need a drink or to wet some napkins to wipe up as I did. There's also a drive-thru if you don't want to stop. I don't end up in Fort often, but you can bet that next time I'm there I'll be goading my BF into making a Frostie stop! read more

We saw the signs, it was hot, so we stopped by for ice cream. It's a typical old-school stand. Walk up or drive in. It was crowded, of course, but drive-through service was fairly quick. Sweetie got a pineapple shake and loved it. I got a root beer shake and liked it. Not quite a brown cow, which to me has more ice cream texture still remaining, this is thick and very smooth, just like any other milkshake. Good, cold, sweet, but not amazing, and not as much root beer flavor as I'd hoped. Still, hey, sweet summer treats are always good. Good service, decent prices. read more

I'm a sucker for making my kids happy, and they're suckers for ice cream! Drove through mid afternoon and there wasn't a wait. Trying to watch my girlish figure, I had a chocolate dipped baby cone.. it was actually pretty big considering. My bigs each got sundaes, $3 for a huge list of toppings! And one milkshake, which was absolutely delicious. The cost kind of made me laugh, coming from San Diego this would have set me back no less than $20. Our total was $10! It's not a fancy place, but their stuff is good and the employees super sweet. Maybe that's just the Wisconsin way. Whatever the reason, I will be back. It should be noted, it's cash only. read more

Delicious and very creative! I love mom and pop shops like this that go out of their way and get out of the box. I enjoyed a cookie dough candy ice cream. Absolutely incredible, I had cookie dough in every bite which is rare to come across. My boyfriend enjoyed a frozen coffee which he slurped down in about 5 seconds. One of the best, if not the best, dessert ice cream place in Atkinson! Not to mention the pink, and I mean there is a lot of pink... I loved it. Even the appliances were pink, so freaking awesome. Stopped here on our way through Fort Atkins and ordered ice cream for 7 people and my total was under $10! They don't make ice cream stands like this anymore. The menu offerings are huge and their are plenty of picnic tables situated around the property for everyone to have a place to sit. The only negatives are that their is no bathroom and they do not take credit cards. However, their is a Jimmy Johns rights across the road, we got lunch there, used the wash rooms and then headed over to the Frostie Freeze for dessert. If your passing through town make sure to stop for a treat. read more

Not the same since owners switched. Sizes have changed, seem to have shrunk. Prices have went up. Still not bad, but still for smaller sizes? My husband saw them put water in his shake. I didn't think anything of it, but he was not happy. He's been going to this one his whole life. I grew up w/the One in Janesville. My husband usually orders a marshmallow shake or malt; we had to ask for more marshmallow & malt powder the last two times Bc it just tastes like vanilla. but then some co workers mentioned to my husband they wont be back either (hubs said he is not going back) Bc they put water in their shakes. Doesn't seem right. I've made shakes at jobs in high school & college & never had to put water in them. Some of their flavors just taste like chemical. Just disappointing lately. Used to be a great stop on a hot day. And we looked forward to opening day w/the rest of Fort Atkinson. I think, now, it's mainly just the nostalgia for ppl. Great, friendly staff though! The best ice cream in Wisconsin! My family and I have been going to Frostie's for years. They have excellent ice cream for cheap prices, and I've never had a problem here. I would recommend a carmel mocha freeze drink or a heath bar ice cream dish. There are very long lines especially on hot summer days, but it's well worth the wait.
