I got a medium cherry milkshake for 6 dollas. It was so thick that I almost broke the straw trying to drink it. Practically a big cup of ice cream at that point. 10/10, if I ever have one of my friends from another country visit, I will take them here because this is true American food. My husband and I ordered a banana milkshake and their brown derby--soft serve ice cream dipped in chocolate. The milkshake was incredible! delicious. The brown derby was terrible. The edge of the cone was broken so it was melting and dripping everywhere and the ice cream was tasteless. I would recommend the milkshakes but avoid the brown derby. read more

Went to Frosty Freeze for the first time last night, we parked in the back of this small street-side burger and ice cream stand and I am a foodie and trained chef so I look at things others do not, with that said I went to my wife and said look at the back of this place which see did, and mind you it was an hour before closing. The back of the restaurant was spotless and well kept. Then we looked through the windows and this place was spotless from floor to ceiling and it is old established in 1956 I believe. The food was good the server was happy and friendly, I got her name but forgot it over night, shame on me!! Lastly the strawberry shake was Amazing, we will be back often!!! They are always busy so I can't recommend a slow time so that itself gives you an idea of just how great this place is. Employees are friendly, helpful and quick to serve you but you may have to wait a little longer than you would a drive thru due to heavy customers attendance but worth the Lil wait time. I've been frequenting this business for 5 decades. (Vanilla + chocolate SWIRL, has served me well.) They have food, but I just can't pass by without getting a frozen treat. Parking looks to be an issue, but there are spaces surrounding the old fashioned type ice cream shop. NO inside seating, SO it's a drive thru / walk-up place. They have "soft" & "hard" ice cream, as well as food. There are picnic tables, for eating outside. I'm posting a picture with the current list of favors. Restaurants like Frosty Freeze are part of dying breed of restaurants in America. It is certainly a "culinary" experience that all need to try before the opportunity is no longer available as so many of these style restaurants are no longer in business. I have been here several times and always enjoy getting some "baby burgers" (much like a Krystal Burger) and a malt (I like malts in general more than a milkshake, Frosty Feeze's malt is one of the best I have ever had.) So in a nutshell; high nostalgia factor, little burgers (65 cents each may I add), and fantastic malt / milkshakes... whats not to love? read more

I would give the food 4 stars because It tastes great, but 2 stars because it was cold by the time we got it. It took 45 minutes for our cheeseburgers and tots and funnel cake. This is a good place if you are nostalgic and want an old fashioned drive in meal, but I would drive all the way to Nashville and eat at the old Dairy King and get better service and hot fresh food. The staff person who takes your order then goes in the back and makes it and they rotate. So if the person before you orders, and they then close the window, it isn't because they are ignoring you. You just have to wait for the next person to finish their previous order, cash out the person then ask for the next in line. Or at least that is my opinion of their process because it seemed to be the case. I recommend the baby cheeseburgers (similar to Krystal) but have them add pickles. I've been gone from Franklin for years so I came back here for nostalgia. The girl taking my order never looked at either of us, when my mother ordered a shake she just said "size? " we ordered 5 baby burgers and 2 shakes and 25 minutes later the food was still not ready. I went to the window to ask about the order and she said they have to make it fresh. I asked then why at least 4 orders that came after us were already served and we were the only ones waiting and she started closing the window in my face. Service is shit here. We were in a hurry and almost left because the line to place orders was a bit long, but we sure are glad we waited! The menu looks like a fast food place, but everything is made to order and the taste and quality are excellent. Our son had the ribeye sandwich and it was just good, but our burgers were great. I spent the first 18 years of my life in Franklin, and Frosty Freeze is undoubtedly the little restaurant that is most symbolic of the small, rural town of 8000--friendly, simple, and very American. Established in the late 1950s, time has only made this quaint restaurant even more special. This restaurant is located right off Main Street in Franklin, and it is a ten minute drive west of Exit 2 off I-65. I'd suggest ordering something classic--half a dozen baby burgers, fries, and a milkshake. Most local residents swear that the milkshakes are the best in the world. While I'm not a milkshake aficionado, I do agree that milkshakes are a must-try at Frosty Freeze. Personally, I love the hot fudge sundaes. Delicious!! I've you live in Bowling Green or Nashville, this would make a really fun little outing on a nice day. Frosty Freeze offers only a few picnic tables for customers to use outside. There is no indoor seating; you order your food at a window. This is THE Franklin classic, and it's well worth a little drive. read more

Super sad to have to write this, as I have always loved this place. The last 11 to 12 times we have been here over the past 3 years (yes, YEARS, as I know everyone has a rough spot, but YEARS?), it has taken well over 45 minutes for our baby burgers and fries, and each time the order is wrong. Each time. I tried to give them enough time in between visits to get it straightened out, but it never happened. In fact, the last time we were there, they gave us the wrong order, and my husband went back to the counter to let the employee know, to which she responded, "I must have given your order to someone else. Figure out who it was and swap." and then closed the window. Not only is this beyond rude, but the other customer already began to eat our food. When my husband told a different employee at the counter what had happened and to ask for our food to be remade (after waiting 5 minutes for her to come to the window), she told him she was sorry and SHUT THE WINDOW again. We did not receive the food we paid for, and I refused to eat the food we had been given after swapping with another customer because there is no telling what all he had touched. We were running late for an event because we had already been there for over 45 minutes, and this event was more important to us than the time it would have taken to speak to the rude employees again to attempt to get this straightened out. I've loved this place since childhood, but I will not go back unless there is a drastic change (which I hope happens because the food really is delicious). read more
