Hamburger and crinkle fries....minus a big bite bcs husband was so hungry he couldn't wait! The buns are SO soft and tasty!
Sherri V.

We are building a house in the area and our plumber swears by this place for burgers and fries. It's a locally owned family business. It's also very casual, sorta run down looking and seems like it has been around for many years. Don't let the age of the building fool you. They know what they're doing. They're focused on the food - not on the decor! Don't let the humble state of the building fool you..just walk on in and order yourself a burger or a fried flounder sandwich. I had my fish served with cole slaw on top. It was all served quite promptly. Fair prices. Better than Wendy's in taste and price! I commented to my husband how fresh, soft and pillowy the buns were! The buns can really make or break a sandwich. In this case - they MADE the sandwich! Best fish sandwich I've enjoyed in a while! Fries were piping hot and perfectly fried. We will be back! Just GO!

Pretty good ice cream!

Overpriced and unclean. Worth the drive to a reputable restaurant. At least change the grease once a month.

I love this place! If I lived closer I would eat here every day! You can't beat the price, the…read morequality, the freshness or the flavor! As a vegetarian I am highly impressed by the different options and creative spins on the classic sandwich/wrap! Today my wait was a bit long but that first bite made the wait completely worth it. I'm not saying that lightly either, I truly mean it. Each sandwich is hand crafted with care, each recipe has been developed with perfection in mind, and each bite is full of amazing flavor. It's clear someone with a lot of passion and respect for food is running this place! Limbertwig Cafe is a little hidden gem in downtown Morganton and I wish every town had one!

There is local artwork displayed on the walls as you enter. You place your order directly at the counter, take a number, and your food is brought out to your table when it is ready. The menu is quite large, and it took a bit of time to decide on my order, but I ultimately went with a combo including a half ham wrap, a drink, and a side of pasta salad. The cashier was very good about openly telling everyone in line about price differences from the printed menu before ordering. Because the kitchen was experiencing a significant delay, it seemed like they quietly upgraded me to a whole wrap as a nice peace offering! It came cut into two parts, with one part wrapped neatly in foil. Personally, I really wish they offered a "build your own" option where you could just choose your own specific bread, meat, cheese, and toppings, rather than having to hunt through the large preset menu options to find a combination where you like everything. I was really surprised by how incredibly small the side portion of pasta salad was--about the size of a standard salad dressing container! I've honestly never seen a side dish served that small before, so I posted a photo of the two side by side to show the exact comparison. Next time, I would skip the combo entirely and just order the sandwich on its own. The ham wrap itself was really good, and the small bite of pasta salad was very tasty. However, it did take quite a bit longer than it should have for the food to leave the kitchen, so this slow wait time could definitely be an issue for someone on a tight lunch schedule.

I stopped into this local restaurant/bar the other day to celebrate my birthday after an appointment, and what started as a really great afternoon turned into one of the most uncomfortable experiences I've ever had. I arrived a little after 3 PM, ordered some drinks, and was enjoying myself with no issues. Around 5 PM, the owner arrived with her parents. The owner's mother walked up to me, poked me, and told me I needed to move because that was "her friend's seat" and they "always sit there." She hovered behind me, gripping the back of my chair and repeating things like, "I'm 87 years old and I have never..." without ever explaining what she meant. The whole interaction was intrusive, disrespectful, and honestly shocking. A kind woman I had met earlier went to speak with the owner. When the owner/manger came over, she explained that the woman was her mother and that they were "dealing with family stuff," as if that excused what had happened. Being told that the behavior was essentially excusable because it came from her own family made the situation feel even worse. She offered to pay for my meal or try to fix the situation, but after being poked, pressured, and essentially told that my presence didn't matter compared to their "regulars" made me feel unwelcome and even unsafe. I chose to pay my own tab and leave rather than sit there after being disrespected and physically touched by a stranger. It's disappointing, because the atmosphere and staff seemed great at first. But no customer should ever be treated like that--birthday or not--and personal family issues do not justify disrespecting or touching a guest. I hope they address this behavior in the future, because no one should have their experience ruined the way mine was.
