We went this evening to Frosty John's pub in Bowmanville The restaurant has a menu with a lot of options to chose from The restaurant was busy but not too busy for a long weekend Our server tonight was super friendly and helpful tonight We started with the crispy calamari The pieces were large and the batter was good My hubby had the pork shoulder with fries He really enjoyed it I really enjoyed the Mexican salad that I ordered It has grilled chicken, avocado, grilled pineapple It comes with ranch dressing but you do have an option to change it and I replaced it with raspberry vinaigrette instead Overall we both enjoyed our meals and I would definitely recommend checking this spot out I would definitely come back again for another meal here read more

I came to Frosty's for an early dinner with a friend since it's with in walking distance from her place. She had their pulled pork sandwich and said it was THE BEST pulled pork she's ever had. It was the perfect mixture of sweet and tangy, it was truly overflowing from the bun. I decided to try something new and had their lamb burger with feta and tzatziki. The burger both juicy and flavourful, and it was a bomb combination with the feta on top. And I can never say anything negative about their lattice fries, a fry just tastes better in lattice form. The only "meh" thing about the visit was the waitress. She was friendly and also polite but after giving us our food we never really saw her again until we were finished eating. She didn't come to ask us for refills or anything. They are usually a little more busy during their Thursday wing night but we got their early and left before any big rush arrived. read more

One of my Dad's favourite places in Bowmanville is Frosty John's. I'd heard about it, but hadn't had the chance to visit. It's a large venue with lots of booths, tables and TVs. Many of the booths had their own TVs. You don't see that very often! There's even a patio in the summer and seating at the bar. I definitely didn't expect that from a restaurant located in a plaza. We were starving. It didn't take long for me to pick the Tex-Mex Burger with onion rings and my Dad went with the Chicken Pot Pie with coleslaw. He knew I'd be getting a pile of onion rings he could conveniently 'help' me out with and I definitely needed it. They were hot and crisp. Perfect! The burger was messy and awesome. This was not a frozen burger. I have a weakness for guacamole and it was good. A little kick went well with the salsa and crushed tortilla chips. It was one good burger. My plate was covered in rogue toppings by the time I was done. My Dad's pot pie didn't last long. It had large chunks of chicken and veggies under a golden brown crust. The coleslaw was creamy and tangy, just the way coleslaw should be. The beer menu was not special. There were the usual suspects, nothing local, no craft beers. Meh. With such a great menu, I hoped for a complimentary beer menu. Boooooo! The service was great. She came by just when we needed her. Didn't stop by us too much or too little, which I like. Each time she had perfect timing to see how we were doing; when I had a mouth full of food. Story of my life! I'd love to try some of the other items on the menu. The service is great. The atmosphere is fun! This place is busy because it's a local pub. However, the food is not the best. There were 6 of us and we ordered food ranging from pasta, wings, lettuce wraps, french onion soup, prime rib sandwich and poutine. None of us finished our food and literally put it to waste. The French Onion soup was too salty to the point that I had to stop drinking it to avoid getting sick. The pull pork poutine was just not good that my brother in law who normally eats everything only ate a quarter of the poutine. The prime rib sandwich was a basic slab of well done meat on a ciabatta bun. No fixings or anything. Therefore, it was quite bland. I do admit the wings are pretty good. Therefore, if you were to choose something to order from this restaurant I would stick to the chicken wings. read more

First night out to Frosty Johns, I was not disappointed, atmosphere is fun and relaxed, prefect for some drinks with the girls. We had some drinks and some food, Spinach Dip for apps and stuffed Yorkshire pudding with shaved beef and fries on the side, it was a very big portion, couldn't finish it all but it was good the perfect pub food. This place me and my boyfriend love, it's our go to place to eat we are regulars there. Staff is so friendly and we even got to know a lot of the waitresses and the manager now every time we go there he comes and says hi to us. The food is great big selection. Wings are soo good and cheap especially on Thursdays when it's $7 for wings and fries and the nachos I love too soo good and huge portions. We usually come after 9 when the nachos are only $6.50 and beer is only $4. read more

I only came in for an app and a drink but thought it was time after living in Bowmanville for a few months. The menu is very extensive, which is actually a bit concerning. It literally has multiple cuisines including Asian, pub fare, seafood, Mexican, steak and multiple other options. We had the Irish nachos assuming that was pretty standard and they weren't bad. The waffle fries were good and crispy. Unfortunately there was very little melted cheese, most of which was stuck to the paper on the tray and not on the fries. The bacon was spare and dry. The waitresses were nice and the place had an atmosphere which you'd expect for a Bowmanville pub. read more

Nice to find something that's not a chain in Bowmanville. This place is as big as its menu. There's something for everyone. Shared the spring rolls to start. Brought out to us piping hot and very tastey. I had the rib and wing combo. A huge half rack and a pound of wings for $15, not to mention coleslaw AND a side dish? The ribs defined "fall off the bone". Wings were perfect. Only complaint is the French fries. Why are those horrid coated fries still around? Buy a bag of potatoes and a chipper. We pulled off the highway in the middle of a long drive with two cranky kids to find somewhere to eat. This place is not haute cuisine. This place is super chill, laid back, and bustling. Lots of tvs. A menu so expansive that everyone was happy and a separate kids menu with over 10 items. My husband had a burger with cheese and bacon and sweet potato fries. The burger was substantial and tasty. The sweet potato fries were above average. The meal came with a chipotle dip that was nice. I had the tapas grille - calamari, shrimp and souvlaki on Greek salad. It was far over average. The veggies were fresh and crunchy. The tzatziki was garlicky and tart. The whole thing was really very good. The kids had chicken strips and spaghetti and seemed happy with both. I'm not really sure what it costs them to carry a particular flavour, but it was one of the reasons I came here. If they aren't selling that wing, it's because they aren't promoting it, because everyone I know who had it, loved it. I've been there twice and wasn't particularly impressed either time. The first was for a friend's birthday; it was her, my boyfriend, and me. We all ordered the special: wings. Theirs came out fine. They loved it and were happy. Mine came out lukewarm and gave me food poisoning. I wasn't too impressed, and when I tried emailing them, I got no response. More recently, I decided to go with my boyfriend. It was a game night but wasn't very busy. It was incredibly loud from the speakers (a radio was playing), to the point where I was shouting to make myself heard. I ordered a strawberry margarita, and a beef au jus sandwich, whereas my boyfriend ordered the rib and wing special. All in all, the pricing was okay. It was in the expected range, however I wasn't very fond of the food and drink itself. My margarita was very, very sweet. I couldn't taste any tequila at all! It was a 6$ smoothie. My sandwich was mediocre at best, again, it was lukewarm and they used very tough cuts of roast beef. For some, it's fine, however, I rarely eat meat so I prefer leaner and thinner cuts. I also noticed a very low amount of vegetarian options, however, it didn't affect me greatly. My boyfriend enjoyed his meal. I even enjoyed it. The BBQ sauce there is very saucy and tangy, which can be hard to find. The service was also very hard to find. Over the course of our meal, we were visited three times by three different servers. They rushed us through and we felt uncomfortable and unwelcome. We were like burdens on them. The worst part of the night was definitely the wait time to get the bill. We finished dining at ~7 pm, but didn't get our bill until 8. We had to wait around an hour to pay. I was very upset and was going to make this a one star review. It may very well deserve to be. However, I called the manager later that night and he was so nice. He was very genuine and treated me like a valuable customer with valid concerns. I will not be going back there, and I wouldn't recommend this to others, however, apparently it's just not my style of restaurant! read more

I've had the pleasure of eating here twice. First was a dine in experience which was great. The food was top notch both times. First time I had there Hawaiian sandwich(summer menu). Second time the buffalo sandwich with Tex mex cheese also really good. Service was also great as well both servers were friendly and happy to help if I had questions. I came here with a friend for lunch on Wednesday May 11th. The server we had did not tell us the specials, but that was ok. I started ordering appetizers because I wanted to pick at different stuff. I was unaware that it was 1/2 price. The server continued to tell me that I have to purchase a beverage with the special. I ordered an ice tea. I proceeded to tell her what I would like to order, she suddenly cut me off and told me that it was a lot of food (2 appetizers) and that I should not order more if it is just for myself. How dare you tell me how much I am allowed to order? I don't care if it was 1/2 price I was coming here willing to pay full price. I have been a server for 7 years and know it is your job to SELL SELL SELL. Not prevent people from even ordering what they PLANNED ON ORDERING because you think it is too much food for me to eat. Her excuse was that it was dine in only, but again I wanted to pick at different orders. I finished 2 appetizers, that were luke warm. AFTER our meal was finished she brought my ice tea. I told our server that I no longer wanted this, so she took it off the bill. This server was completely unapologetic whatsoever, and clearly doesn't know how to talk to people in a respectful manor.
