She brought us menu, took our order, and brought our food. There was no chatting, recommendations, small talk - just the bare minimum service-wise. (There was no language barrier in case that's what you're thinking). We received our food in a timely manner- we ordered drinks and an appetizer to share. The appetizer came with sweet potato fries, veggie sticks, 3 chicken fingers, and "chippies" (chips) with a side of ranch and chipotle mayo. The sweet potato fries and chippies were really, really fried. It seemed like they had been sitting in the kitchen and just fried up again to be heated up. The chicken fingers with spicy Thai sauce had just had the sauce dumped on top of them rather than having them mixed in a bowl prior to plopping them on the plate. Pros: the drinks were fine, beer was bubbly, and it is very affordable. I don't think I'd go back other than for a drink if I'm looking for a patio

The bar area is bright and well laid out with a good mix of booths and high tables. I can't comment on the dining room as I have never sat in that section. I tend to prefer to sit in the bar area as it always seems more lively. This time, we came in to grab some drinks and grubs before catching a movie at the Landmark Cinema (my favorite theatre in Durham region). We sat at the bar and ordered the usual bar fare with a few pints of non-American beer. Their pan bread is a guilty pleasure with soft, pan baked bread sitting in a delicious mix of garlic butter, some herbs and grated parm. Yum! Their wings were on the small side but fried well with the accompanying dipping sauces (med Buffalo and ranch for the veggie sticks). It was exactly what you would expect. The bar staff were jovial and efficient and we had a great pre-movie dinner. We'll likely to continue coming here for the convenience of location and standard bar experience.

I've been itching to try one, and guess what? The Works Pickering, which is just a short drive from my house, has changed its menu, and the new menu offers smash burgers, complete with a potato bun, which is in keeping with the New York style!! I just had to jump on board and order from there. I had to get beyond the idea that I would pay a minimum of $20 for something that I can make very well at home for a fraction of the price. (See previous reviews). However, I don't offer a diversity of toppings, bun styles, meat vs. veggie or smash burgers at home, nor do I feel like hauling the BBQ out of the garage, so I tell myself that these extra options justify the price. We ordered for delivery, and our order arrived earlier than expected. Bravo! My husband ordered a Man Cave (not a smashed burger), and my daughter and I ordered O.G. Smash Burgers. The order was perfect, complete with all of the modifications and extras that we asked for. I am happy to report that The Works still makes an excellent burger! The smash burger style is noted for the ratio of crust to unbrowned interior meat, and indeed you do get some additional browned flavour, albeit sacrificing juiciness. My husband's thick style burger was juicier than the smashed option, but I'd say that the two smashed patties in the O.G. smash burger equaled the meat in my husband's more traditional thick burger. I think that, at the end of the day, i prefer a juicier burger with a good crust to the drier, but very well browned, smash burger. The onion rings here are excellent: super crispy, and the onion is soft enough that you can bite it without pulling it out of the ring coating in the process of eating it. The fries are very tasty too, even after steaming and softening in a take out container. I've ordered from here multiple times, and can attest that The Works delivers consistent taste and quality. While my wallet may be lighter and my bank account leaner, I cannot say the same for myself after scarfing down the O.G. smash burger and a half order of onion rings. I'll be back when I next feel that I'm ready for some slightly pricey pampering.

It was over half an hour of waiting before we were told they're working on the order, and there was only maybe 4 other tables. The burgers arrived and they were so disappointing. Nothing like the ones I remember when I placed my first review. The patties were really dry and hard to enjoy, and the fried onions sprinkled into the burger were rock hard. We really kindly let the staff know and she was pretty honest that the quality was just not going to be better if we tried again. I appreciate the honesty. At least the staff all seem to know. Super sad to see this place decline so steeply. Would honestly not be back ever. The price is ridiculously high for a giant wait time and a really terrible burger.

It was a hot day but thankfully, we had an umbrella.⁠ ⁠ Don't worry, proper precautions were taken to avoid contact with other people, including staff. Menus were online so no contact. Our server wore a mask the entire time.⁠ ⁠ We were also the first customers of the day so we got through fairly quickly.⁠ I've had wings from their Pickering location and they were good. That's one of the reasons for choosing here today. We weren't disappointed. The wings were as good as expected and our server was excellent!

Again- presentation was artless and watery. For snack - we had Avocado Feta dip. This one was good. Avocado was fresh and the corn chips tasted fresh and crispy. The size was generous. But the presentation was not impressive. Beer menu is limited. We concluded that, their weekend happy hour is a good idea. We are here around 3pm and the place was busy!
