I would give zero stars if I could, so disappointed. Worst food truck experience, paid for my food + tip & waited...to then be told that the woman gave my veggie burger away to a man who was waiting longer for a cheeseburger he didn't receive. Two seconds later the truck runs out of gas and propane!!! I asked for a full refund and was giving back cash (I had paid with card) without the tip included. So I had to ask for my money back in full a second time. No lunch for me today, you guys drive all the way from Milford and don't prep for gas and propane????? Fryborg is a new food truck that moves around the New Haven area serving belgian style fries (frites) and does some warm and cold sandwiches. I had their Dutch Fries while waiting for my class. The potatoes were well chosen and cut, the fry oil was clean, and they were fried well. The sauce itself was good but I wasn't a fan of the raw onions (especially going into a class). Overall, they're a 8/10 on the global fry scale, where McDs are a 9 and Rudy's frites are a 9.5/10. They take credit cards via square which is a huge plus for me. It's awkward to go to a fancy bars or restaurants when feeling like having some good fries, only fries. It seems like good to have this food car selling high-quality fried fries with diverse unique sauces. I was never lucky to run into this food car but finally I could find it at a local festival in New Haven this spring. The line was so long and that prove how famous this food car was. Another walk for lunch time brought me to this food truck parked in front of the New Haven Courthouse. The cook and I chatted for a bit, as he griddled up my "grilled banana split". A concoction on brioche bread that features strawberry cream cheese, nutella & bananas all grilled together, with a side of fries. The sandwich was amazing, almost too good to be true, i was sad when it was finished. The fries we good, but I was slighted, they gave me the leftovers instead of frying a new batch. There couldn't have been a more perfect food truck to encounter after a Two Roads brewery tour than Fryborg. Obviously I want some type of fried food after a couple beers, it only makes the most sense. I was in a slider mood so I ordered the cheeseburger sliders, which also came with a generous helping of fries. You also get to choose from about two dozen dipping sauces for the fries as well, so I opted with the herbes de provence (a very herby dill based aioli). Everything was cooked perfectly and the fries were fantastic, along with the dipping sauce which was out of this world good. Not to mention, $8 for all the food is a steal. Fryborg was one of my first stops at the Two Roads Ok2berfest (after filling my stein, obviously). I had the Jager fries, which were delicious fries with pulled pork and some sort of gravy topping. I felt the pulled pork was a little dry for my taste and would have liked more sauce, although I loved how the fries were done. Resistance IS futile! I have seen this truck around a few times and finally submitted to it's allure yesterday! Grilled cheese sandwiches and amazing fries with ridiculous toppings! I have not tried the specialty fries yet, some of which come with a fried egg on top, but I fear that after I do I'll become a fry junkie. I got a Monte Cristo sandwich, which came with their delicious fries, and I got the pesto mayo as my dipping sauce. It came to $7. It was awesome. I devoured it. My co-workers and I all got different sauces so there was a dipping sauce frenzy in the break room. The curry ketchup and the smoky ketchup were also very delicious. This is why I kind of fear the specialty fries. My mind has already been blown by plain fries with various dipping sauces. My favorite food truck in the downtown/surrounding New Haven area! The twice-cooked, hand-cut Belgian-style fries are out of this world and come with your choice of over a dozen delicious, home-made dipping sauces. I've tried a few of the sandwiches offered (grilled Fluffernutter w/ bacon, Andouille 'Po-borg') and have never been disappointed. They also carry a large selection of soda (made from real sugar BTW and served in glass bottles no less) that includes flavors such as pumpkin-pie and pistachio. Just visited at the Hamden food truck festival. So very disappointed. We got 4 orders of plain fries and I am not sure how we were supposed to dip them in the sauces when every container had fry crumbs about 1/2 long. Some smaller and maybe 5 fries that were longer. In my opinion, good food is good to the last bite, and even when you eat it later as cold leftovers, it's just as enjoyable. That is how good fryborg's food is to me, the last bite is as good as the first, and the fries are even good hours later when they get cold! I've now eaten at the Fryborg truck probably 20 times, and that is merely because when I find something that is consistently good, I stick with it, and add it to my repertoire of good food places that I know will deliver. So I am a bit of a food snob if you want to call it that, and fryborg satisfies my food snobery in all it's simplistic, tasty, goodness. The fries; yes they are amazing; Belgian style fries that are twice fried and served with a growing assortment of dipping sauces from ketchup, to interesting herb mayonaises, to just odd sounding things like mango something or other (forgot the name of that one). But what makes the fries delicious is not the sauces, it's the crisp flaky texture; perfectly salted and fried to perfection every time. I personally think these are the best fries I've ever had. I prefer them to the other belgian style fry establishments in New Haven (Rudy's, Elm Bar). Fryborg got it right in designing these fries, and yes there was obviously a lot of deliberation and though that went into making such amazing french fries. Next the sandwiches; also amazing and they go with the fries in a perfect paring. The montecristo is delicious yet simple sandwich melding ham and grilled cheese and rasberry jam, which sounds odd but the jam goes so well with the salty ham and plain old school american cheese. Every sandwich I've tried there has been a simple mixing of different flavors that you would not think to pair with each other, but which work out so well. Finally, the one thing you need to bring it all together, the beverage. This place has a vast assortment of cane sugar sodas, including the best soda I've ever had, Hanks Black Cherry soda, which the owner has to drive all the way to Pennsylvania to get. That's the kind of dedication that to good flavor that I'm talking about here at Fryborg. Anyway, I went on a bit here, but I recommend it a lot, so try it out. read more

Fryborg has been one of my favorite food trucks to find at food truck festivals and events for some time, and now that I work in downtown New Haven where it parks regularly, I'm glad I can include it in my lunch rotation. These fries are really good, and I love pairing them with different sauces and toppings. Sometimes I just want fries, but I also like that Fryborg does sandwiches, so I can get a full meal from one stop. My favorite sandwich to order is the fluffernutter with bacon - a childhood favorite of peanut butter and fluff, topped with bacon, and grilled so it's melty, crispy, and perfect with a side of fries. I've also had the steak sandwich and house-made veggie burger, and both were very good. My boyfriend's favorite order is the assimilation fries - fries topped with a fried egg, cheese, onion, and thousand island dressing. Very good variety and quality for this food truck that makes its rounds in New Haven and Fairfield County. Fries are obviously the centerpiece, and I tried the Andouille fries. Covered and smothered with sausage, lettuce, tomato, onion and "creolaise", these were really tasty and only cost $8. they also serve hot dogs (Hummel's - yay), burgers and other sandwiches. I would like to thank Fryborg for their amazing job with my wedding food! That's right, I had fries and sandwiches as my cocktail hour horderves. I had eaten Fryborg at different fairs, festivals and roadsides over the last year or so, and I fell in love with the creative menu and unique touches to to such simple foods. I knew I just had to share them with all of me guests. And that's what we did. I had 115 guests and although it was hard to choose from all the fun foods they offer, we went with the Turkey Lerkey, Caprese, Veggie, Cordon bleu and Donnie Darko for the sliders/sandwiches and BLT, BBQ, Broccoli and Cheddar, Italiano, and Buffalo Chicken for the fries! In addition I had regular plain fries, with an assortment of all of the fun dipping sauces. People haven't stopped raving about how fun and delicious the Fryborg food was! The owner Jon was so helpful and accommodating to all of my requests and made everything come together. The food was great and really made for a great conversation with everyone.
