Waiting in the cold for our torta.
    Kristin U.

Opted for a torta at lunch time. The green salsa was super spicy and crazy delicious. The side of guac and chips equally good. Mexicalli stands out since it is the only black truck on Long Wharf. Overall love Food Truck Paradise, reminding me of the taco trucks back in California. Definitely not as cheap, but pretty tasty and a nice break from pizza.

I think this food truck had if not the most, then second most ppl ordering and waiting for their food. We waited quite a while for our food and at one point the server started to ask ppl what they had ordered. I think he had forgotten some ppls orders. We had the cemita and pina colada. The pina colada was virgin of course and it tasted pretty good. It wasn't too sweet and perfect on a hot day. The cemita was tasty and a good portion. It would have been better if there was a system of getting the food.

I am in complete disappointment. I'm not sure if we chose the right taco truck... there were a few to choose from but this one had more people waiting... realized the "wait" didn't equal to amazing tasting tacos... it was just slow service on a 95 degree hot summer day. 1st, the kid who took our orders... didn't give us a receipt.. so wasn't sure if we can go and grab other food while waiting... but stayed and waited over 20 mins for a few tacos & a burrito. Ugh. Tex-mex steak tacos, tough and not tasty. Steak burrito, more rice & bean than steak. Birria tacos, total let down... and the consommé was lack luster. Way too pricey for a taco truck. Had better tacos in Brooklyn... so it's a complete SKIP on this one. #findabettertruck #yelplife #traveladventure

Drove by the food trucks and saw long lines so it's gotta be good right? Not quite. We decided to get food here because it had the longest line and also had the birria tacos and quesadilla which was what we wanted. It was a huge disappointment. The birria tacos didn't have cheese and the meat itself was really dry. The consume was just very salty and lacked other flavors. The birria quesadilla had too much filler in it so it was just too wet and didn't hold together. The meat was also dry. This food truck was also not cheap so not sure why the long line but not worth it in my book.

We last visited a little over two years ago and when we came back it took us a while to find the food truck since they had made so many new updates. I'm glad that they not only updated the truck, but also the food. I didn't think it could get better, but it did! Now you get a grilled onion bulb and roasted jalapeño with your meal. They also have birria tacos on the menu that are scrumptious. They're cheesy and filled with a lot of meat. The food is still piping hot and delicious. The only negative I have to say is that I don't live in Connecticut. Los cocineros de este lugar saben cocinar-mis respetos!

This is a relatively simple mexican truck in Long Wharf, New Haven. Tostada was my favorite. It was very crunchy. Chalupas de pollo was good too. Horchata drink was really good. They will even give a sample if you want to try before purchasing. $3 for horchata felt a bit expensive though.

It's hard to make a quesadillas stand out, the ingredients are pretty standard and most taste pretty similar. However, my quesadilla from here stands out from the rest. It was the most flavorful and freshest quesadilla I've ever had. The pico was amazing and the ingredient combination was just right. I especially loved the avocado, which was included, but is typically only offered at an additional price. To be fair, I'm not too adventurous when it comes to food and my go-to Mexican dish is typically a quesadilla, so I've had more than my fair share. Basically, I consider myself an above-average, experienced quesadilla critic. In a world filled of dozen of food trucks in Long Wharf, I picked this particular one, and I'm so happy I did. The menu looked good, the truck looked clean and the line wasn't too long (I'm not sure why). They also take credit cards, which was an added bonus. With a drink, my meal came to $9 and I loved every bite and I'm totally full. The BF ordered from another truck, but ended up getting an additional chicken taco here. He enjoyed the green sauce topping he put on, but it was a bit too spicy for me. I have to come back and try something else from here soon.

Cooking up a delicious storm for me and my coworker! Tacos placero, taco lengua, taco with steak, amd al pastor quesadilla!

I finally made it down to the Wharf to get me some tacos! After reading the glowing reviews, I had to give Mexcalli a try and I can say that I was not disappointed. I visited 2 weeks in a row, went back for a 3rd but they weren't there yet. I tried a different truck but was sadly disappointed; it just wasn't the same as Mexcalli! The tacos were delicious with just the perfect amount of spice for me and the sauces were full of flavor and complimented the food perfectly.

Food used to be good, but the last 2 times I've ordered delivery, it was pretty gross. Avocado was brown and black and the limes were old as well. Food was just kind of slimy. Nothing was fresh or appealing. They got the order wrong as well. It sucks to eat spicy Mexican food without the drinks we ordered. They don't even use takeout containers, so expect all of the juice/sauce/oil to run off the paper plate and into the bag. I used to like this truck, but it seems to have gone downhill. I won't be back.

5 dolla holla. Lengua, al pastor and chicken tacos
    Thomas L.

The prices are right and the tacos are simple and tasty. $5 will get you a decent lunch here. The tacos were topped with onions and cilantro and a lime and radish slices were provided on the side. The chicken taco was pretty bland but it's only $1.50. You live and you learn. The other meats I got (lengua and al pastor) more than made up for it. Just give them a shot.

That is one stuffed al pastor quesadilla.

I can't give the Nextalli Taco Truck any less than 5 stars because I'm still thinking about the al pastor quesadilla I had a few days ago, and I'm trying to figure out when I can go back again. This truck is a little hard to get to, at least for me (I made my way through the streets of New Haven, over some bridges and under some highways, and I awkwardly walked past all the other Mexican trucks before I found it), but it is worth the journey. This isn't your average quesadilla with meat and cheese inside a flattened tortilla. This is a giant burrito-sized tortilla covered in melty Mexican cheeses, topped with juicy, well-seasoned meat, freshly sliced avocado and lettuce and tomato, folded over and grilled to hold all that good stuff inside. The al pastor is what dreams are made of - spicy and flavorful marinated pork with chunks of sweet pineapple to balance it all out. When I was handed this wonderful creation, I squeezed some red and green hot sauces on my plate, and it was heaven in my car as I enjoyed it parked in front of the water on Long Wharf. I was as impressed with the prices as I was with the food. $6 gets you the very satisfying quesadilla (I wrapped up half to bring home), and you can get tacos for just $1.25 each (the kind on corn tortillas with fresh onion and cilantro).

    Mari K.

Delicious. Try the marinated pork (different from the shredded pork) and the chorizo tacos. They are the two best on the menu (yep, I've tried them all. Hey, they're small!). The hot sauce and avocado sauce combo is great, they are anything but stingy with the limes, and even though they only give you one corn tortilla per taco (many places do 2), they're good quality and hold together in my experience. I'd rather have extra juicy meat, great seasoning, big chunks of great lime, and a stellar avocado sauce than an extra corn tortilla anyway :) This is my favorite stop after some exhausting trekking through Ikea.

It was close to 11 PM on a Wednesday, and after trying multiple spots that claimed their kitchens were open until midnight (Google lied ), VivaZ came through. We were greeted right away and seated quickly. Our server was patient, knowledgeable, and very considerate of food preferences at the table -- huge plus there, especially that late at night. Food I ordered the chicken empanadas -- they were big, filled with chicken and cheese, tasty but a little too oily for my preference. I'd love a drier, crispier shell, but I'd still try them again. My brother ordered the shrimp nachos and those were excellent -- loaded, flavorful, and honestly better than the empanadas in my opinion. My cousin got the same nachos and loved them too. A friend ordered the short rib empanadillas and didn't enjoy them. He sent them back and swapped for chicken, which he liked much more. Appreciate that the staff had no issue making the change. Drinks I had an Ilegal Mezcal shot -- my go-to when I'm at a Mexican spot -- and it hit like it always does. My brother's strawberry margarita was also a winner. Overall Friendly service, good food, great energy even late on a weekday. The fact that they were open and accommodating when nothing else was is major. Would we return? Absolutely. Rating: 4.5/5

I love that they use corn tortillas for the tacos. The pork belly taco was drenched in kimchi, not my favorite but a good cut of pork belly. I like the lamb taco tasted just like a mini lamb gyro. The baja fish taco was my favorite though, it's comes in a huge slab. it was so good I ordered another. I love the chipotle sauce the Baja fish taco comes with too.
