The idea of steamed burgers doesn't sound very tantalizing, but when I got down to it, I was pleasantly surprised. The texture alone was interesting, with a lot of juice and flavor in the burger itself and I'm sure that bread is in house, and it crumbles when being bitten into. I ordered online and the wait wasn't bad at all, and the staff seemed friendly. The parking lot here isn't huge at all but hopefully you won't have a problem with it. There is parking in the front of the establishment. It's pretty small inside but there is indoor seating available which we opted for. The burgers were not bad, I think with a little more seasoning I would have enjoyed them even more. The sharp cheddar was not my favorite, but I did like the change nonetheless. Great burger joint. The good thing about steamed burgers is that they're very meaty, almost like eating a lean cut of steak. No grease whatsoever. And because of the steam, they are never dry or tough. I give K LaMay's the nod over Ted's because their cheese is sharper & more flavorful, and they use the perfect amount of salt on each burger. The online ordering system could use a little more clarity. By default, it is just a plain cheeseburger without the toppings shown in the photo. You can add toppings & condiments for free by listing them in the comments section, but it would be nice if there were selectable options, or if there was a least a note about this in their ordering system, telling you what options were available. First of all, the ketchup was overwhelming and overtook the burger both taste-wise, as well as causing it to fall apart far too easily. The second issue that I had was that the bun was much larger than the burger itself, resulting in inconsistent bites of just bread and an improper balance. Maybe this issue would have been resolved by ordering a double, but for a single it did not feel like the right ratio. Steaming burgers is how the hamburger got started many years ago in America, so there is an interesting history behind steamed meat. However, I was disappointed with the burger. First, the restaurant was not busy with only two other customers. The interior seats about 20 to 25 people and looked freshly painted. I ordered the double burger and potato wedges. The burger was quickly delivered. The meat lacked flavor and the melted cheese had a quirky taste. Maybe all steamed burgers are like this, but I don't have anything to compare it to. Finally came here! My good friend said this was his go-to spot in high school for a good burger. Came with him yesterday in the pouring rain for some good food. The wait staff was very friendly and greeted us at the door and was patient with us while we ordered. They have some of the best cheeseburgers for cheap here. You can fill them up with whatever you like and get stuff on the side too. I ate mine so fast it was moist and chewy and delicious. I also had a side of tater tots and they were crispy and crunchy! Formica table top kind of spartan, I suspect that it was a bit more crowded pre Covid. Now for the burger. We ordered doubles, a huge mound of steamed ground beef on a Kaiser roll. If you are truly hungry this is the best place to go. The cheese is Wisconsin sharp cheddar, perfectly melted on your burger. The burger is huge, you can easily share it with someone. They don't skimp on the beef, you get a full burger that covers the entire bun, not part of the bun but the entire bun! The beef has a nice full flavor, and the cheese is unlike any other cheese that you normally get on a burger and again they don't skimp on the cheese either.
