smoky beef bulgogi fries, fried chicken breast and fried tofu rice bowl
    Teresa C.

These comfort foods are perfect to bring your mood up. Stick-to-your-belly yumminess! Highly recommend their bulgogi fries, rich, sweet, savoury and crispy, tantalizing with every bite. If you prefer a lighter meal, they offer the fried tofu version as well. Crispy and huge portions, both will fill you up nicely.

Every time I pass by there is a super huge long line up. But its not as crazy as when they are at "Friday on the Front" in New West. When they are at the Friday on the Front, the line up is a two hours wait and on the first day of the even they were sold out of chicken and than not too long after everything on their menu. WOW. I knew all along that they were at downtown. Located at Burrard and West Pender. I came here for lunch on a weekday. I got the Fried Chicken Teriyaki on rice. It was very delicious. The chicken is a thick piece of fried chicken (very similar to panko style). They used Japanese rice making it extra delicious. I like the light teriyaki sauce. I suggest putting some mayo on it as well. The mayo that they provide makes it extra delicious. I definitely recommend giving this place a try.

Enjoyed my food so much! Make sure you go when it's no peak time or else you'd be waiting a long time. I went around 1130am on a weekday and I just made it before the lunch rush. Fast and friendly service - although, the price is a bit on the pricey side for the kind of food being served. I got the smokey beef bulgogi rice bowl - huge portion and sauce was very rich and creamy which added moisture to the beef. It came with a fried egg (done exactly like I asked, over medium), and veggies (lettuce, purple cabbage, carrots, and onions)

Half Regular / Half Spicy Chicken Wings with Fries. Decent size portion of protein

I finally got a chance to try this food truck. My craving for fried chicken won out. The rice bowls will definitely make it to my must try for next time. This time I ordered the Fried Chicken Wings and fries. Opted for half & half (regular and spicy). There was about 6 pieces of wings and a small portion of fries with side coleslaw/cabbage salad for $10. Chicken was tender and batter enpointe on the crunch factor. It lost a star because honestly the "spice" was missing. I am not sure if they have a "spicier" version if requested but the normal order seems to be tailored to those with a small tolerance for spice. All in all, still enjoyable and I'll be sure to come back to sample more.

"The Best Fried Chicken in Town" Those words have some big shoes to fill. If you're in the area for lunch, this place definitely is worth a try. I had a "crazy" chicken burger - I was expecting a lot of heat but actually it was quite tame. If you normally eat spicy, definitely go for that one because its not really spicy. The patty is definitely the highlight. Its a big patty, and its fried very very well. Towards the end of the burger, I thought it got a bit too "bun-y"; as in it felt like eating a lot of bread. Their bulgogi fries ($10) are worth a try too, but probably a bit pricey for what it is (think poutine meets korean bulgogi, swap the gravy for bulgogi sauce, swap the curds for creme fresh). Overall, great choice for lunch, but definitely pricing wise, it puts it into the "premium" category - $12 for a burger, sans fries, add fries for $5, or fries+drink for $6. All this without table service to factor in. The quality is also reflected in the price so I'll leave whether its worth a repeat visit up to you. Do I think its "the best fried chicken in town". No. But it is ONE of the best - Vancouver has too much competition in this arena to crown one the king of fried chicken.

I've been wanting to try this food truck for forever!!! Finally my day came just two days ago when a coworker and I walked over to the food truck on burrard (dangerously close) and ordered the extra spicy fried chicken sandwich, fries and pink lemonade. I heard the chicken burgers were insanity and was just gonna order the burger but when I got to the cash the woman working there was like "no fries????" I thought oh no! What am I missing out on!? Yes please, I'll do fries with that! (Best sales woman ever). The wait isn't long even tho they've got tons of people lined up! We got our burgers and fries, fries were pippin hot and we hit them with all the spicy mayo! We got back to our desks and feasted! The chicken burger is big! Nice juicy meat and perfectly deep fried. A great punch of spice that lingers but not long enough to hurt. And the fries!! Are a must. Period. Even if you don't like fries you'll like these fries, trust me. They taste double deep fried to me and the mix with the spicy mayo is life changing. Side note the pink lemonade is great too! You gotta hit this truck!!

I have spent some time in Nashville, some in New Orleans and some in Houston and I've gotta say, Vancouver having some of the best fried chicken places ever has been a massive plot twist. The thing is, this place is just so good. The chicken sammies are huge, the breading is delicious and has the perfect amount of thickness and seasoning. I love their fries, they're the kind that seem slightly breaded in their extra crispness (my husband tells me this makes no sense, and is probably wondering why he married me- but 'breaded' is my descriptor and I'm sticking with it). The prices are suuuuper reasonable for what you get and I absolutely would not hesitate to go back. *the wait can be a bit lengthy, can't really fault them for that since it was my decision to show up with every other downtown office employee at 12pm

When a food scene has long lines, you know they are doing something right. This is exactly Frying Pan! A Korean fried chicken food truck (usually) outside Bentall One in downtown Vancouver. I had the chance to visit this truck on a single occasion as I do not work downtown, and was it well worth it. The fried chicken has a good kick to it with the spicy and was very juicy despite being a chicken breast. The burger was $13 alone but if you do not feel like having a bun you could have it in a rice box for the same price. The wait: if you are in a rush or have a short lunch hour, this is not the food truck you want to go to. Or rather come early or later to skip the lunch crowd. I was there around 12:30 and waited for about 15 minutes, which wasn't bad as they were quite quick and versed with the crowd. (Especially on a sunny day!)

Best food truck in Vancouver! So much better than DL chicken shack! The prices are a little steep for a food truck but in Vancouver, it's reasonable. And honestly, you need to try their chicken. At least once. Especially if you're a fan of spice. I've eaten here multiple times (ok 6) whenever I'm near Burrard and it's always been juicy and delicious. The wait is really long as it's only open during the lunch rush. Wish they were open for longer and on the weekends but they do come out for food truck events

I don't do the 5/5 reviews much but this experience was mint! OMG best fried chicken burger I can ever remember having! Might seem a little pricey to some, $12 for burger only though, no sides. But otherwise definitely a more than reasonable serve of solid slaw and a piece of seriously well-cooked fried chicken breast in a burger bun. I'd admit I would have liked a few fries with my burger, but an order of a side of fries would have made my meal way too heavy for a work day lunch. So burger only was a good call for me. The lady that took my order was super energetic, cheerful and just lovely. A fitting parallel to how scrumptious the fried chicken in my burger was. All in all, a experience.

    Amy C.

Came here for the fried chicken burger. Heads up - go to town on that spicy mayo!!! It really makes the burger so much better. Otherwise, the chicken can be a tiny bit dry. Overall delicious burger but I think the chicken could use a little more crisp, and the burger was just a little expensive for a food truck. I'll be back to try the bulgogi fries!!

This is hands down my FAVOURITE food truck in Vancouver! Never have I been disappointed with any items from here and I've tried the whole menu. - I have to start with the fries. They're as close to perfect as you can manage. Delicious and crispy! Smoky Bulgogi Fries are a go! - You can't go wrong with their fried chicken sandwiches, and add an egg on top if you're feeling extra. - The fried chicken itself is very well made so ordering fried chicken on its own is a good choice. They have a couple of different flavours as well! BONUS: The yuzu tea (hot or cold) blows my mind! It's sweet and citrusy. Always great customer service when I go! Whether it's at an event or just at their Burrard location, I don't mind going out of my way to hit them up! Check out their Instagram page for location updates and new features!

If you like fried chicken and haven't visited Frying Pan... you're seriously missing out! I originally found out about Frying Pan from Instagram and after months of seeing their mouthwatering photos decided to pay them a visit. WOW. Why did it take me that long to visit?! My fave thing on their menu? Their spicy crispy chicken burger. The chicken is perfectly crispy and perfectly spicy. Ugh, my mouth is drooling just thinking about it. For $12, I think it's more than worth it, seeing as how a burger this size at a restaurant would be much more expensive. So, you're definitely getting a great bang for your buck. Plus, it's just really freakin' good. This truck gets real busy right around lunch time, so if you're in a bit of a time crunch, I'd try to head over a bit earlier. I have dreams about this spicy chicken burger and will be back very very soon to treat myself to another one.

    * The Definition of Torpedo *…read more Urban Dictionary has multiple definitions or "Torpedo": - To betray, backstab, diss, or punk someone with the intent of causing harm to their reputation. - When objects or people look beautiful from far away, but dangerous or ugly up close. - A long turd. The menu sounded promising (although overpriced for a food truck) with some nice classic sandwiches on offer. I ordered the "mumia" ($12) - which I have to assume is a play on Mumia Abu-Jamal who is from Philadelphia, home of the cheesesteak? Anyhoo... The description was very cheesesteak like with sirloin beef, pepperjack cheese, sauteed onions and peppers. The addition of garlic aioli moved away from the classic as did the usage of pepperjack instead of provolone. When I unwrapped the sandwich, I was torpedoed with an excessive amount of a watery oily substance dripping all over the place. It got all over everything - not in a good way. Biting into the sandwich was the next torpedoing. The bread was stale. I don't mean day old. I mean stale. Next torpedo: the beef was chewy, gristly, and very oily. The peppers were the best part - but they too were overly oily. Basically each bite gave you a mouthful of stale bread, a piece of oily gristle flavoured by an oily pepper and a drippy oily substance (perhaps a broken aioli?). I couldn't eat the bread. Tried picking off the meat and veggies to eat, but gave up as they were too awful on their own. Photos: http://www.yelp.ca/biz_photos/tasty-torpedo-vancouver?select=aorGigi_39ldUheXPUynsQ#aorGigi_39ldUheXPUynsQ and http://www.yelp.ca/biz_photos/tasty-torpedo-vancouver?select=i8BEF8GCeNEZMql6nK1uYA#i8BEF8GCeNEZMql6nK1uYA So I'm left concluding that I was served an overpriced torpedo. In other words, I feel torpedoed that this food truck is a torpedo that serves torpedos!

There was a small line when I approached the truck initially but their service was quick giving customers their sandwich within about 2-4 minutes of order, not entirely sure what the standard is for food trucks but for me that's good. The lady up front taking the orders was very friendly and was happy to help answer our questions. They only offered a few options but what I had to try was the jerk chicken sandwich as I had stopped a girl just minutes before and attempted to waft hers. Again service was fairly quick and I receive my sandwich within a few minutes. I don't think the picture I've posted will do it any justice but this baby was a beauty. The bun tasted quite fresh and almost melted in my mouth, the chicken and enough spice and flavour and the rest was just bomb. It is quite filling I found which is what you're looking for, good bang for buck. Definitely gonna track these down every time I'm downtown. Amazing experience for my taste buds.
