At our second appointment the explained again and had her try various styles. Once she chose her wig they took time for her turn put on the wig, remove it and put on again. Having an impulsive desire to change my hair color, I called this salon after seeing pictures and reviews (albeit quite outdated). If they weren't going to take me in the same day I called, I would have just continued looking for a different salon. I'm not the type of person to stay with a certain place for a long time, since I'm a really low-maintenance hair person. But alas, after setting an appointment with Allison, they managed to get me in for today and did a balayage on my short, very thick and natural Asian hair. At first, I wanted to change my base color. They said that due to my hair being dark and thick, they didn't think it would be a viable option and would rather if I stick with a caramel colored balayage to mix in with my base color. I wasn't fully on it, but they told me that I would still see the change and it would be a lot more low maintenance. I agreed and said to just go on with it. The whole process took us almost three hours. It was a surprise that my hair had lifted more than all of us expected, so my hair looks very nice albeit my base color still being the same. It's also cheaper than what I've seen from other salons. The place is also very homey from inside to out. Nothing grand. I would have knocked out half a star if it was allowed just as a wish that we communicated more BEFORE Allison started the treatment. But either way, I truly enjoy what Allison produced and am definitely coming back to them to take care of the beautiful colors in my hair! :D read more

I would just like to express how much I enjoyed my visit to Fuads creative hair design! From the moment I walked in they treated both me and my grandma with such respect and were so professional! My hair dresser Allison Bloomer was so beyond wonderful I definitely recommend her. She was so good and knew what she was doing. My grandmother had previously gone to a different hairdresser who fried and destroyed her hair with bleach and when she reached out to her to fix it she could not. When we found Fuads we went in for a consultation and they informed us that they could in fact save her hair! In one day her hair went from dry, hay-like, and dead to soft shiney and youthful all thanks to Allison Bloomer, we cannot thank you enough! 12/10 recommend Fuads creative hair design and will be returning from now on. read more

I'm shocked this place hasn't been reviewed yet- it's been around for a while! I went a few times a year over the last four years and always left happy (except the first time when I walked home in the rain with my new blowout...) The salon is small, cute, and everyone is really friendly. The prices are VERY reasonable- full foil highlights for my long hair was about $80. Yup, $80. Since I'm used to Chicago prices, I usually alternate full and partial to save money, but I think every time I scheduled a partial they went ahead and did a full for the same price. Megan does good cuts and GREAT highlights. She did my highlights last time though and I was absolutely thrilled with how they turned out. I never had an appointment with Fuad, but the other stylists were good. Overall, I would definitely recommend this place for someone looking for a new salon in Champaign. Great experience with the salon, service and final result! This was my first visit as I was in the Champaign area to visit my friends' restaurant and wanted to look great for some photos. I went in for a blowout. Allison was my stylist and as she was finishing up the team got me started with a shampoo/condition. She was very friendly, made me feel welcome, then listened to my ideas. It was such a treat to find the salon had an opening after I had been working on my writing project during the day; I had something in mind and wanted some hair help since it was very humid and my curly hair gets big and frizzy! Allison did a great job with my blowout with body, movement and shine! Everyone in the salon was also very friendly. (Appreciate the fun convo on your favorite dishes at my friends' restaurant!) I have been going to Fuads for multiple years now, with Meghan Albers as my stylist. I want to first say, that I would not know what to do if she left. She is kind and friendly, and has a serious talent. With both cut and color, she always knows what to do. I have had my hair colored, highlighted, cut short, and long, and she has never disappointed me in her attention to detail. She always knows what to do, and what will look good! She has also done an up-do for me for a special occasion, and it was gorgeous. I recommend Meghan to anyone wanting a great hair stylist - you will not be disappointed! Fuads salon has a welcoming atmosphere and everyone is really friendly. They offer a wide variety of services, and carry only the best products! At my last appointment, Meghan used a new product "Olaplex." It is an additional treatment that makes hair stronger, healthy, and softer. I needed a good haircut, but my trusted hairstylist moved to Chicago. It is so hard to find a good stylist in Champaign, but I had to find a new stylist who would listen and hopefully give me a great cut. I chose to try Fuad's and I had my hair cut by Michael Steen in late Feb 2014. My hair is thick, wavy, was past shoulder length, damaged from sun, wind and coloring. I really wanted a lot of the damage cut off without going too short because I don't like short hair. I greatly dislike layers and told Michael I wanted a one-length bob cut at just below my chin, maybe just off the shoulders and that it be slightly longer in the front so that it's not boxy looking. He gave a wonderful cut, but my only complaint (and the reason for the 4 instead of 5 star rating) is because he went way too short. It was angled to a bit longer in the front as I asked, but the back was so short I could not feel any hair on my neck which was weird for me. I had a good 7-8 inches cut off just like that. It is now July and my hair is finally at the length I originally requested (just below my chin). Regardless, I would still recommend Michael because he gave me a very good cut that is growing out nicely. It looked good and had lots of bounce. He also styled it very nicely and he is a super nice person. Overall excellent stylist. read more

I see Sara and she does an excellent job with my curly hair. The salon has a relaxed vibe and I can usually get in without too much of a wait. I have had a lot of stylists who say they understand how to cut curly hair and then they do something crazy like try to cut it with a razor.
