We found the perfect place to get small gifts for family & friends. The lady at the store was very friendly and answered all our questions. She made of our stop a great experience. The quality of the fudge is outstanding, and you see the processing happening at the shop. I got the best peanut brittle ever, at this store. It comes in a bag, and it's called "Fudge Du Loche". We were visiting and went on the boat ride and afterwards we stopped here. Yummy! I bought a piece of great fudge and got the bag of brittle. It would make for a wonderful gift. I'm here to order more online! I wonderful and tasty shop. read more

The woman behind the counter was friendly and helpful. Reasonably priced for fudge but largely disappointed regarding quality of the fudge. The middle of our fudge was very soft and underdone. Deliciously creamy and chocolaty fudge! The waitress present could have been a bit friendlier but that's okay, it encouraged me to keep looking around at the other restaurants and shops! The place could be more tourist friendly, I felt like I was annoying the staff even though I was the only customer in the store! Expensive tourist fudge, I always sucker in and buy it. I'm still not sure why, I might as well do a shot of granulated sugar then chase it with a bottle of maple syrup. BEST FUDGE!!! I've tried ALOT of fudge in the Mackinac area in search of the perfect fudge & while I LOVE fudge & chocolate in general I'm very particular about my fudge. This fudge shop is a hidden gem that hit the spot & I will definitely be returning for more. Maybe I judge Fudge du Locke unfairly, having been in Mackinac Island the day before, but I wasn't at all impressed. I am not a sugar fiend except in rare circumstances, so teeth-rotting 1970s cocoa-bombs cereal style fudge does not appeal to me. If it drips syrup or sappy saccharine goo, my tongue immediately curls up in the defensive pill-bug position. But fudge is part of the local Soo ecosystem much like snowmobiling, snow trains, and lobbing hockey jokes at the bigger Canadian sister on the other side of the locks. I decided to jump in while visiting. First off, the prices are not cheap. A knob comes out to about $5-6, and dropping $20 for a family-sized assortment is no surprise. The flavours come across the spectrum: lots of chocolate, some studded with fruit, some that look and smell so overpoweringly sugary that hyper six year olds might be repelled. I ended up taking a dive on a dark chocolate piece that was nothing to write home about, and had a faintly powdered iron aftertaste. That wasn't expected. Iron shavings with my sugar cocktail? Hmm. The beau declined to have any, being overwhelmed from our many mini-fudge tastings on the island. I should've known better. The fudge here isn't up to par with what you can find elsewhere, and it's definitely a tourist trap. read more

This is for Mocs du Locke next door. They offer Jilberts ice cream in the back of the store. I had butter pecan. My partner, the Zanzibar. Butter pecan was mildly flavored with ample small but whole half pecans. Zanzibar is very dark chocolate like a baking chocolate. Both were somewhat on the icey side but that's how it was meant to be. Overall very good for mass production; Jilberts is a UP dairy out of Marquette. The tattood woman working the counter highly recommends the pumpkin pie flavor but alas it doesn't arrive in the shop until after our visit. read more

Expensive is the only word I can think of for sugar. The toffee was the worst I have had. It was granular and soft. It was fun learning the art of making fudge but I already knew how as my mom made it every holiday. Was not that impressed with the selections as they were the same everywhere. Clerk lady needs to smile and be more inviting. The kids making the fudge were sweet. Very friendly. read more

Right across from the Soo Locks. This is THE definitive "fudgie" tourist mecca. Fun to watch them make the fudge there in the shop in huge copper pots and poured onto "pool-table" sized slabs of white marble. If you like fudge (and duh, yes it's extremely sweet and rich, that's kinda the point) then this is THE place for it. German Chocolate is my favorite. It's been a family tradition for us now going on the 4th generation to go to Fudge Du Locke when we're in the Soo. BTW, their giant Turtle candies are worth their weight in insulin! read more
