The food is great and that's were it ends. The service has been lacking, we have tried this place over 8 months, 5 different times and all not great. The servers are always trying to get you in and out fast, don't smile, unfriendly and just rude. The ambiance is ok, the seating by the bathroom is a big red flag. The smells are not what you want when getting sushi and the cleaner products a smell every time the doors are opened is pungent. Not worth our time anymore. It's a small place and worth skipping. read more

Fudo Japanese Restaurant is great and did not disappoint. This was our first visit since the pandemic started and we felt safe. We took takeout. We had the veggie tempura, yam tempura, veggie tempura sushi rolls, yam tempura sushi rolls and the deluxe sashimi. We paid $75+tip. The deluxe sashimi was $40 and was the best I've had in years, anywhere. Every single piece was varied, extremely fresh and very well presented. The tempura batter was perfect, not soggy at all and was thick (in a good way). The service was great, again we felt very safe and I'm already planning my next meal at Fudo Japanese Restaurant. read more

I guess, if you are super hungry and have money to burn. The room feels like fast food, the vibe is almost a karaoke bar. The sushi chef behind the bar is more noise than sushi chef - perhaps less volume and more attention to the food? Just a thought. Despite spending $140 for two people nothing we ordered jumped out and said 'come back for more' I know it's the suburbs, but hey.... I made an effort, why can't you? We are from California, USA. We tried this place out since people reviews that they offer fresh sushi. OMG I must say their sushi is fantastic. We ordered lunch sashimi mix, uni, and sweet prawns. They were so fresh that I can taste the whole ocean in my mouth. Love them all. The Chef was very nice to offer us a dish of Blue Fin Fish sashimi done with scallop. So delicious. I wish we could have more time to come back again for another dinner date. Definitely recommend this place. read more

IF YOU LIKE GOOD SUSHI GO HERE! Amazing sushi restaurant hidden in a small shopping center in Victoria. The quality of fish is unbelievable and I always try to come here every time I visit. They have rolls, special rolls, nigiri, miso soup, sake, ice cream, and a few others. When I checked the menu, I did not see any sashimi. Never a wait when I visit. A cozy restaurant with friendly staff who enthusiastically yell Japanese words as you leave. :) read more

Amazing food here come at least once a week for sushi! Highly recommend. Service is great and Staff are super nice. Quite a small place but there has always been room when I come in and no wait! Finally somewhere in Victoria that is inventive, impeccably fresh, provocative, friendly, not self indulgent, etc. 1st visit last week. Highlight: Chilean uni. Sea urchin. Not for the faint of heart. Fudo is a very welcome new addition to the Broadmead mall restaurant selection. We have eaten there a few times and each time found the food excellent. There is no need to go downtown anymore to fine good Japanese food, yay! One of my favourite appies is the Ahi Poke, a mound of cubed Ahi tuna tossed in a poke sauce and combined with avocado makes for a tasty start to the meal. My partner and haveI enjoyed several of their special rolls, my favourite is the Eel-ectric Roll starring Tuna, Avocado, Tempura Bits and Spicy Sauce, topped with BBQ Eel, Fried Leeks and Japanese Pepper. It's not a large space so reservations may be a good idea on busy evenings. read more

Wow, what a bad experience and it was my friend's birthday as well! Even though the restaurant's closing time was advertised as 9pm, the staff had clearly decided to have an early night. By 7:45pm, we were being asked for last orders. Then just before pm the music was turned on, garbage bins were trundled past our table and bright overhead lights were turned on. Then the sushi chef announced that he and two of the staff had fevers. Ooh, how appetizing when we had just eaten sushi that he had made. The server was so rude. No apology from anyone for the terrible experience and having our meal ruined. read more

Hands down the best Japanese food in Victoria. Shingo the sushi chef is friendly, knowledgeable and very talented. Worth the drive.

I wish I could gave this place less than one star, horrible service, chef talk about customers behind our back, and I was in the bathroom all night after eating there. Never go there again. read more
