Had a large group for dinner on a weeknight. We got a variety of dishes. Of those I tried: 1) calamari - 3/5. Pretty basic, middle of the road. 2) Brussels sprouts - 3/5. Also ok. 3) Italian salad - 4/5. Had lots of good ingredients with a light dressing. All of us enjoyed this one. 4) quinoa salad - 3/5. Dressing was meh and it was layered under huge slices of zucchini. Quinoa salads can be presented in much better ways. 5) ribeye steak - 5/5. Cooked perfectly with a nice char. The chimichurri sauce was yum. 6) potatoes au gratin - 4/5. It was good, but the slices were slightly thick. 7) mushroom risotto - 4/5. God carb option. The sides are good to share with 2-3 people. The hostesses fake smile upon entering could be better, we mistakenly gave her the wrong amount in our party and apologized, she sat us at a 4 top at first, until I asked her to be moved to a bigger table with at least one more seat for a child, I apologized again. Her tone and demeanor were trash. Mind you we got to the restaurant at 4, there were 5 tables dining outside. Our waitress I think Alyssa? was her name hadn't introduced herself yet just kept reminding us she'd be right with us so cool, fine. She seemed to be taking care of more tables than she could handle alone. By the time she came to us to take our drink orders it was 4:40, she reminded us about happy hour which ended at 5 so twenty minutes for us to get a margarita or two in before it ended. Although drinks took longer than usual. We had to bother her at 4:59 to put in our last happy hour drinks. The margaritas were inconsistent bc the second round for me was stronger than the first the opposite for my friends who ordered a different flavor. The coconut heaven wasn't very good for an $18 cocktail. Food wise, their crostinis for the appetizers were stale and the braised short ribs my friend ordered was dried out on the outside and a bit gamey, which was unfortunate. Our steaks, the salmon and the risotto were a hit. Just to get to the dessert portion of our meal and to get another drink we waited 20 minutes for our server to come back, I had to step outside, sure enough our server is at the hostess stand leaning on it on a phone scrolling probably talking stories with the rude hostess. Server brought out the birthday dessert we sang hbd, she left and didn't take our dessert order until after almost 10 minutes. Birthday girl and I ordered a tres leches cake.. barely any leches it was dry just by looking at it, her and I agreed it tasted like pancakes with syrup. We were both disappointed, my friends ordered the brownie which the birthday girl tried and enjoyed most. Please don't get me wrong Alyssa was kind and friendly. The attentiveness to her guests is the issue. We spent most of our time waiting for her to return and check in on us. Also an FYI, for those thinking of visiting Fuegos. They charge a service fee. In your tab there is three different total amounts at the bottom. Your actual meal total then a cash payment amount vs a non-cash payment amount which is more. Unaware of what percentage the service fee is, they could be adding any amount they'd like for all we knew. No breakdown what-so-ever. If they intend to charge a service fee I believe it should be company policy that they notify guests as well as on their menus/website and by mouth from servers about this service fee. I understand it's common amongst businesses, but a simple notice would suffice. I asked the server about them and she said "it's not the tip, but a service fee we have, I'm sorry". It wouldn't have made us wonder why our bill could've been less instead of paying more. We know now IF we ever choose to come back. read more

I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience completely ruined what should have been a nice dinner during our vacation in Maui. The hostess who greeted us was incredibly friendly and welcoming, so we were excited to eat here. Unfortunately, our server, Denise, made the experience unpleasant from the beginning. When I politely asked for the drink menu, she responded, "Yeah, I'm about to tell you if you let me talk," in a rude and dismissive tone. My husband also asked for sharing plates, and instead of acknowledging him, she simply dropped them on the table without saying a word. We were dining with our toddler and specifically asked for a cup with a lid because he would easily knock over an open cup. Despite that, an open cup of water was brought to the table anyway. To make matters worse, the drinks were bitter, and toddlers fries were extra salty even after saying "no salt". Overall, the food and service were nowhere near what we expected. It's disappointing to spend money on what should have been an enjoyable vacation meal only to leave feeling frustrated. Unfortunately half the time we come our food comes out cold. Especially the steaks, which of course is hey we come. When the steaks are brought out warm it is delicious, but who wants to eat a cold steak. What was more embarrassing was the manager tonight coming out to explain to us that it's because of the health department standards that our steak can be cold, depending on the temperature we order. He was trying to tell me because I order medium rare, it's typical for the steak to come out cold sometimes. What a lame excuse. Just apologize and move on. He reluctantly offered me a $10 discount, but truly, I would've been more impressed with an apology or nothing at all. The excuse that it's the health departments fault is absurd. I really wanted to like this place, but it was honestly disappointing. The food was not worth the price and the portions were much smaller than what some of the pictures make them look like. The empanadas were 3 for $22 and were literally only about two bites each with almost no flavor. The blood sausage had no flavor and needed something to balance it out. Yuck. The eggplant was also a no. I ordered the dorado and it was completely bland. My husband got the blue cheese steak and it somehow tasted sweet, salty, and sour all at once. We also ordered the pizza and the crust tasted old like cardboard with barely any flavor. Even the Shirley Temple tasted like water with a little syrup. The service wasn't any better. When I asked what the specials were that night, our server just looked at me and asked what I wanted to order. We never felt welcomed or like anyone really cared. We had an exceptional experience at Fuego. Every dish was spot-on. Three of us dining. Our table went with the short rib, pan-seared salmon and a medium rare ribeye steak. Each entrée was prepared perfectly as requested and served with seasoned mashed potatoes that were rich, smooth, and absolutely delicious. Our server, Eric, was excellent--attentive, friendly, and on top of everything without ever feeling intrusive. As a side note, don't pass on the oven-baked, house-made rolls. Our waitress never introduced herself or greeted us. Instead, she immediately asked what we wanted, took our appetizer order, and walked away without another word. The same thing happened when she returned for our entrées. She simply asked what we wanted, and we pointed to the items on the menu. I ordered the tomahawk by pointing at the item on the menu. Since it was my first time dining at this restaurant, I wasn't aware there were different options. I was unexpectedly served and charged for the $140 tomahawk instead of the $20 option I intended to order. At no point did the waitress clarify which tomahawk I was referring to or confirm the price before placing the order. During our meal, no one checked on our table or offered to refill our drinks. After waiting about 10-15 minutes after we had noticed we were running very low, we had to wave our waitress down just to ask for water. She acknowledged us and said "okay," but another 10 minutes passed without our waters being refilled. We eventually had to stop eating because we had nothing to drink and placed our empty glasses at the edge of the table until another staff member noticed and finally refilled them. Overall, the lack of communication, attentiveness, and service made this experience very frustrating. On the other hand, the food was enjoyable but because of me having to pay for the waitresses mistake we will not be dining here again. read more

Went for the first time with friends and will return. Ambiance was perfect with live music playing. Service was nice and Dinner was tasty. We had Rabas (calamari) and soup for appetizers. So we ended up having dinner here. We made reservations on short notice. We had a party of five but they were able to accommodate us. The service was great. The waiter checked in on us regularly. Even though it was fairly busy when we arrived. We ordered the rib eye times 4 and they were cooked perfectly. It came with a chimichuri sauce on the side that I liked. The sides are ala cart if you order off the steak menu. They have a specialties page where you can order other dishes that come with sides. We decided to share a few sides so we went with the grilled veggies, corn with butter and lemon and mushroom risotto. The only thing that was ok was the corn. Other wise the grilled veggies were done very well and the mushroom risotto was delicious. I like what they have done with the interior. I remember what it was like in a previous life. This past sunday we went Fuego's Argentinian Steakhouse gor breakfast. It was my first time here and it was nice. My daughters had been here before with their Uncle so I had high expectations. Venue - Its located within the Maui Lani? Golf Course. The restaurant had a nice vibe. Great view of the golf course and the mountains beyond. I watched a rainstorm slowly move in from the right, eventually misting out the mountains. Beautiful The weathet was nice but by the time we left, it was pretty humid. Food - The food was good. At least my dish (classic) was okay. I asked for soft scramble, but it came out regular. Bacon was overcooked however that might be just how its cooked. Was not given an option on how bacon is cooked. Even the side of bacon, was super crunchy. Best thing on my plate was the potatoes. I just wish they were bigger. Crunchy on the outside, fluffy on the inside. Soooo good! One picture that i didnt include was the steak and eggs. Pretty basic 8 oz steak, pretty tender per my nephew. The only other dish I'll comment on is the Benedict since I tried it. It was a pretty standard florentine benedict - tomato & spinach,& Hollandaise but the smoked salmon really made the dish. I only tried a bite and I thought it would be slimy but it wasnt. Pleasantly surprised. Service - There were literally only 3 front of house (that I saw) - the hostess, the busser and the waitress. We got there a little after 9am and there was only 1 other occupied table so not too bad. About 15-20 min later (after our order went in) it started to get really busy. To their credit, the busser and waitress held it down. The busser served each table water while we waited for the waitress. I forgot to get their names but the busser was okay, waitress was awesome. Busser pretended not to hear people unless they grabbed him. Once our food was delivered (by another person from the back) the waitress asked if we needed anything. We gave her our requests (salt, pepper, hot sauce & ranch) We were about halfway through our meal before these items came - by the waitress. Most of these condiments were for me so my food was cold by the time I ate. To her credit, she was going by each table to make sure everyone was okay. The busser just kep filling up water. The hostess was very nice young lady who only sat the customers. If thats all she was told to do, then she did a fantastic job! Overall, everyone enjoyed their meal with exception to me. Ate here on weekday lunch for my birthday. It was not too crowded, so food came out quickly and service was excellent. My husband and kids got the Steak Sandwich and I opted for Club Fuego Sandwich with Caesar salad. My husband got the salad and the kids had theirs with fries. Let me start by saying my coworkers absolutely love this place-- so much so, that they make it a point to stop by for lunch and/or dinner every time they're on Maui. I flew home for a weekend to celebrate my nephew's baptismal and was excited to know we were heading to Fuego for lunch after church! It was a fairly large party of about 20 of us, but the staff were great in accommodating us. I believe my Uncle made reservations ahead of time and when mass was running late, the staff were kind enough to hold the space for us. As for the food, trust me when I say get the grilled tako (octopus), Brussel sprouts, empanada, and calamari for starters! The tako was soft, seasoned well, and had just the right amount of char. My niece devoured the calamari, which was also perfectly cooked and crispy. The Brussel sprouts were also very crispy and yummy! I stole bites of my Uncle's empanadas, and those as well were also seasoned well. I really liked the dough on em. For my entree, I got the steak with mashed potatoes plate. The steak was cooked to my desired temperature (medium well) and the mashed potatoes were fluffy! It also came with steamed asparagus and a delicious wine sauce that paired perfectly with the steak and potatoes. The rest of my family got variations of the steaks offered, and each of them had no complaints. If you have children, they also have pizzas that are good too. My niece, who's kind of a picky eater, enjoyed the pizza and the French fries lol All in all, as much as I miss the old cafe o lei at the dunes, Fuego is a nice replacement. We had eggs Benedict as we were here for breakfast. The eggs florentine was ok except for the lack of a bit of spinach which would appear to be the major ingredient for eggs florentine. The wait staff was courteous and the restaurant was not crowded for a mid morning Sunday. We got to catch up with friends and the coffee was good. I have mixed feelings about this spot. I was one person in a group of 5 who saw an oppurtunity to experience something unique somewhere unique. Upon arriving and seeing this spot was literally on a golf course it definitely rubbed me a type of way. That's fine, we went in still optimistically because we know better than to judge anything by its appearance. So accross a lil bridge with fish and inside we went. Down the hall we were greeted and seated pretty quickly. Place looks amazing inside, fantatastic looking bar and an amazingly well designed patio section. We chose to sit outside on the patio but still under the roofing. Maui weather is unpredictable. Our waitress arrives, my obligatory question if you follow me is always "How many drinks can I order at once" She was not amused by the question, visaully looked annoyed with me. I drew back some because I did not want to be that guy. My brother-in-law who is Salvadorian and 2 other people in my group speak spanish. He's more comfortable speaking spanish if possible. When he asked her if she spoke spanish she said no, her moode and entire aura shifted from annoyed to just outright disgusted almost. Again, I remained optimistic and playfully tried to break the very thin ice all parties involve seemed to walking. So we order drinks and food. My guest made note a lot of the food was good but it felt like the food wasn't really Argentinian and that the menu was just in spanish for the overall vibe. For food I ordered the Lomo Redduccion, I enjoyed my meal but I also started to get the sense this is just steak and potatoes... Now my major gripe was this, the drinks. I had walked through that door with my intended drinks set at 5. First drink I ordered was the Bien, good drink, no complaints. I would reccomend it. Second drink was the Tincho Cocktail, not as good as the first but fairly refreshing. My third drink and the start of my problems, was the Fly By Night. By far of the 3 the least favorite of the bunch. Did not like it, very strong and not my kind of drink. I very clearly then order the Last Tango, I got a drink that looked very similar to the Fly By Night and this observation was made by my sister. I was still vert optimistic and went for it. It very much was the same drink. So I took it on the chin and made sure I got the drink I was eying from the start, according to menu the Fernet Cola was a traditional Argentinian drink and I wanted to honor the place of origins of which we were dining. I very VERY clearly asked for the Fernet Cola..... I was again givin a Fly By Night. I don't know if it was intentional or not or if they just didn't have the ingredients to make the last two drinks I ordered but at least acknowledge it, makes me a suggestion instead of hoping I'm to inebriated to notice I was being screwed. My friends wanted violence, I did not. We paid and were about to leave, I even tipped well because what the woman day was like and if we made it worse but on the way out I was playing around with my two young nephews and huddle with them. I very jokingly told them to carry me like I was drunk. My brother-in-law saw the waitress give a disgusting scowl, whether or not that was true I could believe it which is why I was dissappointed. The food was good, the drinks were good, the service could be a lot more welcoming and forthcoming. I'm sad to say this is a spot I wont revisit in spite of still really wishing I could have tried the Last Tango and Fernal Cola. read more

I have been to Fuegos twice within a year for a celebration of life for my Father and then Mother. Both times we had party's of about 30 people and we were grateful that we were well taken care of on each occasion. The food was delicious and the drinks were fantastic. It's a very nice restaurant with indoor or outdoor seating which over looks a golf course and the mountains. The service was smooth and attentive. It had been a while since our last visit to Fuego Argentinean Steakhouse--life has a way of filling up our days too quickly! But I was excited when my 'Ohana made reservations based on my past experiences. The food was still on point--delicious steaks, bold flavors, and that signature Argentinean touch I've always loved. However, I couldn't help but notice a few things were missing. We always enjoyed the bread service, but it never came. Was it overlooked, or is it no longer offered? We didn't ask, but we probably should have. I also didn't recognize any of the servers, the manager, or the bartender. I hope the ones I knew are still there, as they were always part of what made Fuego feel so welcoming. Most disappointing was that we were there celebrating my niece's wedding anniversary and the upcoming arrival of their baby girl, which I mentioned. In the past, Fuego was wonderful about recognizing special occasions with a complimentary dessert--one of those thoughtful touches that set them apart. Unfortunately, this time, there was nothing. If these little extras are gone due to escalating prices, that's understandable, but for the value of four entrées, a bottle of wine, and desserts, I'd say we more than covered it. I read some of the reviews about the steak coming out undercooked, so I ordered it medium instead of my medium rare, and it came out medium rare...in the rarer side lol. But it was a great piece of meat and for a skirt steak not at all gristly. I enjoyed it the way it was cooked. Cesar and broccoli were good too. Thought the prices were reasonable for such a big serving. I liked the atmosphere. A little rustic bar. Bartender was good conversation and they had games playing. Patio view is really impressive. We loved our breakfast here. We made reservations on open table but needed to add a few more people. Called in the night before and they were able to accommodate.  Part of our party showed up late. Like 20-30 minutes late, yet the staff was so friendly. We got our drink orders in, then our server came around two other times when the rest of our party arrived. Once we were all there, our server took our orders, and soon after, our food came out hot. Everything was delicious!  We got the breakfast burrito, loco moco, steak and eggs(ask for the chimichurri sauce), avocado toast, French toast. I didn't get pictures of everything, but there wasn't much to take home.  We had a long table outside with a view of the golf course.  The food was delicious, and service was great.  Looking forward to my next visit. read more
