I'm not a big fan of empanadas, and this was based off the one time I tried a really dry flavorless one. But tonight I decided I'd give it another try. There seemed to be a lot of people stopping by their cute wagon at the Kahului food truck area. I opted for the Chicken and Beef empanada, and waited patiently as he prepared them fresh. It was dee-licious! So much flavor and super moist with a lot of filling. The crust was crunch and flaky. This is something worth trying and will be coming back again.

I stopped by here earlier today with my wife. We weren't necessarily looking for food but were interested in walking around the upcountry farmers market. However, when looking through the stalls we came upon Maui Empandas and decided that we should try them. This operation was being worked by 3 people, 1 to take the money and the other 2 were in the back frying up the empanadas. They had 4 different flavors to choose from and the person working the cash register told me they had a special of the day too. I waited for her to tell me what it was and she never did which I thought was super odd. In any case, my wife and I decided on sharing both the Hana one (chicken, onions, sweet peppers and onions) and then a breakfast one which came with eggs and bacon. The empanadas were already cooked and ready and so after we gave our money, we had our food and were off. The empanadas themselves ending up being quite good. Surprisingly the fried exterior was super light and crispy, which was a nice base for the filling. The Hana one was nice as the chicken and inside was flavorful and juicy. Then the other one had some nice eggs inside and since it was still around breakfast time it was perfect. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. My wife and I enjoyed both empanadas, especially the exterior, and I would like to try the rest as well.

This was my favorite booth out of the whole entire farmer's market. A must visit spot on Saturday for sure! I tried all their empanadas and man it was hard to decide which one was my favorite. All of them were so good, if you want to try one you definitely can't go wrong with the vegan or beef. Don't forget that homemade chimichurri sauce!! Everything was made fresh and it's the perfect meal. Wish I never had it cus that's all I'll crave every week now. Very impressed

Best empanadas on the island by far. Looking forward to their new food truck opening by the Marriot food trucks.

We went with the Hana & Hookipa as those were the only 2 that had meat in them, I think there was one other one, bit it was sold out.

I tracked her down to her new location on the west side of the "food paradise" in Kihei. They are sold in 3's. They are made to order and you select the sugar and filling on each one. This is incredible customer service. Each malasada is large and filling and the fillings are delectable. There are tables nearby, but I usually take them home to enjoy while watching my Dodger games. Do not miss out on this treat when you visit Maui. If I'm 3 bills by winter, this will be why! Just in time for whale season!

Aloha fellow BES' Kine Goodies Seekers!…read more I LOVE MANUELA MALASADAS so.stop by every time I go to Costco! They are right across the street so I may drive to the lot right next to the truck or just run across the street ! It's a cute, very clean food truck right off the hotel driveway & parking lot with parking stalls right near it in case you buy a bunch to take home. Or have a car full of luggage from your flight to Maui since it's just down the way from OGG airport. Malasadas put donuts to shame!!! ESPECIALLY if you like gooey fillings & toppings. My favorite ones are around Christmas but they have tons of regular fillings. I can never get less than three because I can't pass up my chance to try new ones. They have wonderful staff... especially the manager Sabrina...really know their way around dough and they do not scrimp on the Malasadas itself or the fillings! They ONLY cook just for you... so plan a few minutes wait but they have picnic tables under a tarp right there or you can walk around the other food trucks. But definitely at least take your first bites there while they're hot out of the frier!!! 'Only ONE piece of advice: ... G O. H U N G R Y !!!! ...

Five years ago I was so impressed that when I came back, I had it on my must eat list!…read more I had intended to eat here much earlier during the trip, but the Kona storm had different plans. So it was again the meal right before going to the airport to go home and the gate was closed, but I saw people eating inside so I did what I would not do In DC, which is get out of the car and just ask if it was open. I wouldn't do that In DC because it's just a little scary here. And a nice people called out to Ola the chef and he opened the gate for us!! This time it felt extra special. It was like eating with a dear old friend and come to find out Ola was living in Columbia Heights just before the pandemic. (We are frequenters of Columbia heights!) We really felt spoiled and cared for here. He whipped up an amazing bed of salad for both of us. The greens here in Maui are just so fresh and the flavors are so good and of course we topped it with mahi mahi either grilled or taco style. He also gave us coconut water and a smoothie and fresh papaya which I told him I only eat on the island, which is true because it doesn't taste as good anywhere else that I know. What a way to end a trip with a flood and power outage in the middle of it. When troubles come later at home, which they will, I will think back fondly and give things for the experience we had here. And there was so much food that I was blessed to take the food on the airplane which served as my main meal (bc I can't eat any of the things that is on the plane sadly with my limitations. Delta loves to serve things with lots of cheese or dairy.) When it's not too windy, sitting outside under the tent is a lovely way to enjoy. I hope I can be back in less than five years to enjoy Ola's food at Ula Ula again. I don't know why they don't have more reviews but after we came in, was glad to see more people come in through. I really think so highly a food trucks in general in Maui, but this is definitely a top winner and a true gem!!
