If I'm making a cocktail with a hard-to-find liqueur or cordial, chances are they have it. The service is always prompt and attentive. There's a refrigerated section with beers, including local ones. We never know this place existed until we went to dinner right next to this place, after dinner, we walked by and I told my wife, let's check this out. My wife doesn't really drink and I am not a heavy drinker myself, but when I entered the store, it was impressive! Came here to find my smoked whiskey. I'm a sucker for smokey peaty whisky and I love Laphroaig Whiskey. This place had so many different types of alcohol, but most importantly, they had Laphroaig and 3 different types on the shelf (10yrs, Select, and Quarter Cask). I've tried them all before and they were decently priced here. They had Ardbeg Uigeadail whiskey which has won awards and voted the best one of the brand. I choose this one cause I wanted to give it a try. The cashier (forgot his name) was very informational about my brands that he pointed out a Laphroaig 10yrs behind the counter, but it was 120 proof (60+% alcohol). Now I couldn't decide which one to buy so I bought them both for just under $200. I got home to try the Ardbeg and it was super duper smoky and made my mouth real numb lol. I enjoyed it. I won't touch my Laphroaig yet until I finish the Ardbeg. The staff are super friendly and helpful. The parking is large. Again, I had to go back to Fujioka's for my birthday wines (this Sunday!). I do not even want to discuss my age, but I made it this far and I really wanted some serious and special wine for the party. Fujioka's has everything on the planet from the affordable end to the highest end (most serious store in HI, for sure!). I absolutely love N. White Rhone wines (tasted blind, most cannot be differentiated as white vs. red). I purchased 2 more bottles of the E. Guigal 2007 Ex Voto Hermitage Blanc and Steve was awesome as usual and knew exactly what I was looking for. He also recommended some generic Bourgogne reds that I suspect will be designed just for my palate (earthy, forest floor and mushrooms if you understand). Picked up a couple of these too. As a beer fan and always on the lookout for something new, I find it fun to try off-the-beaten-path kind of places. On a recent grocery run, I had the idea to stop in here and am glad I did. Fujioka's Wine Times is a local chain of wine stores, but they sell so much more. This one is located in Market City Shopping Center on the lower level near the car ramp. It's easily accessible from the lower lot or safely through the staircase in Walgreens that brings you outside right near the entrance. Like most of the stores in this center, it looks misleadingly small. The entrance is dark with some flyers and ads. Inside the door is a rack of used cigar boxes for sale, then you realize how big it is. As the name implies, the focus here is on wines; it's a literal wine cellar. The checkout counter is the left, with wines organized all around. Along the right wall is the beer, both room temperature bottles and refrigerators with beach-ready selections. They also sell cigars and have large humidors in this area as well, a gentleman opened them during my visit and the smell was intoxicating. My review will focus on the beer selection, as I'm not a fan of wine. I was taken aback at the beer selection. They have many typical local and mainland examples you can find at any grocery store, but they also had a large selection of richer Trappist beer, barrel aged beers from different years, and ciders. Prices are reasonable, with many rotating sales. One thing to note is check the dates; many are years passed the 'best by' dates, but honestly it won't matter with many. Others like Orval have a sweet spot at around 5 years old, so these may be perfect for enjoying without cellaring at home. The staff was super friendly and welcoming, even throwing in a discount for nice conversation about the store. I look forward to stopping in more regularly and really digging into what's on the shelves. It reminds me of beer stores that have long since closed on the island. read more

This place gets all 5 stars from me for these simple reasons: 1. Thoughtful selection of wine, sake', spirits. 2. Reasonable prices for these items. 3. Knowledgeable and helpful service. 4. All of this is delivered in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. This is not a huge warehouse store, nor is it rock-bottom prices. But it does have some fine and unique selections that are better than most Mainland liquor stores with prices to match. Today I spied French Burgundy from the Aloxe-Corton, a full set of EH Taylor bourbons, and about 50 Sake' selections. The fact that this was while on vacation surrounded by ocean on all sides is nothing short of impressive. The staff here is really helpful and truly interested in helping you find a gem to pair with your plans. I witnessed a guy getting a private tutoring lesson on what would go well with a spiral ham in port reduction glaze by one of their staff members. That was really nice to see and I thought about being a smart-ass and asking what they thought would go well with my plate lunch and SPAM musubi but knew that might be pushing it. Bottom line is that this place, for being on an island, really delivers a fine service to Oahu and is a very well-kept secret for the tourists. Luckily, I found it and scored an awesome bottle of bourbon for my vacation over New Years. I wish I had more places like this on the Mainland. read more

My search for the holy grail bourbons led me here. Didn't find any unicorns, as they only get delivered periodically. What I did find is a nice wide selection of bourbons that are mid-range in price and quite a good deal. Their prices looked to be at least $5-$10 cheaper than the other stores I visited, and their sales people are very knowledgeable. I am doing a full about-face in my update. Something changed or I changed, not sure which, but this place seems MUCH better to me since my last review in 2015. I have found the place to be tidy, well-stocked, and the staff is helpful. They have all the same wines as the other local place (whose name shall not be mentioned) and they seem to have a better selection of liquors and mixers. I particularly like that they have quality versions of some fairly exotic items like falernum, or orgeat, for really random cocktails. Great selection of premium California wines. Good selection of Italian but could be better. No Biondi Santi but I did purchase several bottles of Il Poggione Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Vigna Paganelli 2015 and 2016. Ok selection of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, picked up Clos du Mont-Olivet 2020 and Vieux Telegraphe 2020. The only reason Fujioka's didn't get a 5 star from me is their dismal Bordeaux selection. I inquired with a salesman and he recommended Vintage Wine Cellar. He was right! Left Bank, Right bank; 1855 classification, 1st to 5th growth! A candy store for Bordeaux lovers. Had a great experience buying some expensive champagne for a special occasion at Fujioka's today. I went to Tamura's first and got such rude response from a clerk that I walked out. Fujioka's nice staff helped me pick a couple of bottles from their extensive selection, got my price point, and then packed it nicely with crepe paper in a cute wine sleeve. Anyone who is looking for wine, this is the top place I'd recommend. A friend referred me to Fujioka. It doesn't look like much on the outside, which makes inside that much more impressive. (Location is convenient and parking is great though) I'm not knowledgeable on alcohol, but I wanted to find some Hawaii-specific gifts for friends and co-workers in Washington. I was helped by Sims and his coworker, John who gave AMAZING recommendations. I had no idea what to look for, and could only give him vague descriptions LOL. He walked me through the store and picked out a few that they ended up LOVING. When I came back to Washington, man were they so impressed. Walking in, Sims was so friendly and attentive. I get the feeling he genuinely cares about every single customer as a friend. I've walked into other stores (psssst, total wine & more) where the employees recommend something random, looks good, often expensive and and is a hit or miss. At Fujioka, it was like quality over quantity. He wasn't focused on the best price for him, but the best price and quality for ME. As a total newbie, I really appreciated his sincerity. My boyfriend and I feel like we just made a new friend, this is the place to visit if you're in Hawaii! (P.S - It's pretty cool that Fujioka has their own special bottles.
