They treat your pets like family and have always taken very good care of my dog Nova.. she doesn't allow me to trim her nails at home so I always take her here & they always have her back out very quickly and I never hear her scream for them like she does with me! The only reason why they are not getting five complete stars is because at times the receptionist will prioritize the phone customers over the in store customers that are standing right in front of them.

The interaction started off well as originally my appointment was 5 weeks out. I was on a cancellation list. They called 2 separate times to move my appointment up which I was thrilled. I then received the new client paperwork via email. I noticed it said ..... Our lobby is currently closed in the Orange Park location to provide a safe & stress-free environment for our furry friends. When in reality they share a building with a dermatologist and they don't allow dogs in the building except in the back and exam room from what I was told. I can't say my response was the best as I did say....... Well that's Bullshit. You bring your dog to an eye specialist, you are supposed to keep your dog out of the bright light and we wait in our car or sit on a bench outside? I was taken back with the office answer that you have to just that. I said well it doesn't matter my dog needs to be seen so I'll be there. Well this is the kicker, I get an email stating.... We are writing this letter in regards to your relationship with our veterinary practice. We made accommodations for Cassie and prioritized her when we had a cancellation for Thursday understanding the urgency in her being seen. After your call back stating your disapproving views on our lobby policy, we have decided that you may find better accommodations at another facility. One of the most important criteria for the delivery of veterinary medical care from veterinarians and staff members at this facility is a polite, effective, comfortable, and open avenue for communication. Unfortunately, your interactions with our personnel today have made it impossible for the doctors and staff here to communicate with you in that fashion. As a result of this, we will be unable to provide medical care for your pet(s). Ideally, we recommend that Cassie see another ophthalmologist. There are ophthalmologists available in Gainesville that are highly recommended or we recommend searching ophthalmologists at the ACVO.org website. I was scheduled today for 10:30 am and I showed up earlier to fill out the patient paperwork. I was taken back right at the time of the appointment. Backstory: I got my beardie back in September of last year (2024) and I was told by the breeder and the owner of the store that my beardie is a male. I named him Zuko because he is a red striped dragon (Avatar the last airbender fans ikyk ). I got a lot of information on how to care for him by the breeder and I felt confident but I knew I still needed to get Zuko checked out by a professional vet. Hence my research on the best vets in town. I was led to Exotic Bird Hospital by other reviews on yelp and boy, am I glad I did! Upon the physical examination I found out that Zuko is actually a female! I renamed her Azula instead, lol! I was asked a series of questions about her health, living conditions and diet. I was provided with a packet of information that will help me ensure that she is healthy and taken excellent care of. I was able to provide them with a fecal sample for a parasite analysis just make sure she's healthy and has no gut issues. Overall the exam went great and the staff was so friendly and compassionate towards my beardie and I which was something I was really nervous about due to past experiences with other vets in this area. I loved my experience with them and the office is so nice! I will definitely be returning to them if there's ever an issue or when the annual examinations are needed. Thank you Exotic Bird Hospital!

But when I called needed an emergency visit due to his tail, nobody could see me. I went to three different vets before I randomly passed by South Lane and turned around to take him in. Now I do warn you, they are old school all the way, but man do I prefer that over all these vets just trying to see as many as they can without actually caring as much. Dr Ausherman and staff were so sweet, they immediately brought him back, took a look explained all of what it was and gave him a little shot to help with the pain. We were in and out in an hour. I decided right then to establish my kitten there as his vet, they were even kind enough to call a few times and check up on him. Love it
