After days of overpriced and underwhelming food in the general Hampton area, Fuller Gardens were an oasis in a desert of disappointment. The outhouse was actually useable. It was clean and nice. The rose garden was well labeled and smelled wonderful. The Conservatory was packed with well-cared for tropical plants. It's a bit pricey for the size but there were no limits on how long we could stay. The staff were friendly and welcoming.

Fuller Gardens is a wonderland of roses and other flowers of all types. If you want to spend an hour or two wandering around flower beds on a nice day, you'd be hard pressed to find a better place to do it. Some of the facilities are a little tired and could use a coat of paint, but look at the plants. There's some amazing stuff here and most of the locals probably don't even know it's here. We went in mid-June and the roses were blooming. I don't know how it is during the rest of the season but mid-June is a good time to go.

Last July I moved 2 miles from the gardens so I got myself a membership this year and have been visiting once or twice a week. I just love, Love, LOVE it! I usually go at 10 a.m. and it's like having your own private meditation garden! It seems to get busier as the day goes on. Today I took a friend in the morning with one of my guest passes and left my camera home so I could enjoy the moment. BUT i just had to go back for 2 hours this afternoon to take photos before the rain comes tomorrow! :-) I would love it if they had a few days for photographers to go in earlier than 10 a.m. to get some great early morning light. I also loved the photo of the night blooming cactus from their greenhouse that they posted on their FB page but no chance to get a photo of it when the sun is shining. This is a beautiful little garden and the dahlias are amazing this year! I like the roses, but I really love the dahlias and the perennial garden best! A nice variety and going every week the variety changes and there are new blooms every time I go!

Went on a rainy day drive up the coast and had the whole place to ourselves. The roses were beautiful, also loved the Japanese garden!

My visit was a bit early for the roses but they will be in bloom shortly and I will definitely go back.

Possibly the best prize for labeling as many species as possible. So many gardens do not provide good and legible labels on their plants, trees, bushes, ferns, and flowers. This was joyfully, thoroughly well-labeled. As was the path itself on the loop trail. There is an additional outer trail you could take if you're channeling your inner Thoreau but we stuck with the anti-Frost and took the road more traveled. Stay on the path. Recommendations say you can walk the loop in 30mins. You probably could. But we found plenty to keep us oohing and aahing for 90 mins! Turtles, frogs, dragonflies, butterflies, and some fab funghi in the lily pond. Unique and colorful small flowers every which way. The trail has mostly small inclines here and there, but the hike at the end to return to the visitor center is a bit huffy puffy. While there were beautifully carved benches throughout other parts of the loop, there were no benches on this steepest part and there really should be at least one halfway up the hill. Take your time. Wear proper shoes, bring a water bottle. Small parking lot. Bonus gift shop, plant shop, and proper rest rooms.

A bonsai haven outside the city…read more This was a trip! With all the insane Boston traffic these days, the drive here could very much be a good 4 hours (there and back). But don't get me wrong- this bonsai haven is worth the trip. They are one of the most friendly and experienced bonsai shops around. Just ask for the father-daughter duo, Emmy and Michael! As first time bonsai parents, we were rightfully dubious in our efforts to keep these miniature trees alive. But with the help of Emmy and Michael, we left with a new found confidence in our plant rearing abilities. And I'm happy to report that our baby jade bonsai is still thriving. There are a plethora of bonsai variations; choosing the right one depends on where you plan to keep/plant these beauties (we were told). In the colder months, they have services to take care of your bonsais for you. And it seems like many bonsai owners utilize this service! If you want to supplement your bonsai purchase with a bonsai guide book, fertilizer, soil, you name it- they have it here! If you're ready to commit to a lifelong relationship with a bonsai, I highly recommend stopping by and browsing- this place will definitely have something for everyone! And you'll be in good hands!
