With over 1700 roses inside its labyrinth of botany this botanical garden does not disappoint. With its stately and meticulously attended grounds there was beauty found with every step. Once you step past the carved timbered gate you are immediately transported into a garden oasis filled with stone statues, water features, greenhouse and passages to be explored. Following the pathways you are transported through time with years of a great historical collections of roses from lost and forgotten years expertly acquired by the founder and their generations lineage. With its 360* view of each and every collection found within its walls, there is a defining and identifiable plate with year and botanical information. The staff was eager to answer questions and offer assistance through the garden. Wheelchair access is available and a great majority of the garden is also accessible for adaptive devices. The best viewing time is late July so that you can full enjoy each bloom in their second blossoming. Photographs do not do this regal collection justice. This is a must see when visiting the seacoast. read more

This place is really well done for flowers in season and the statues, how they are placed, make sure go late June or early July for the roses in bloom or call them and they will tell you what is blooming at that time! read more

I wanted to give this garden a good review, but I had a very unfortunate experience. The gardens were lovely, but my time there was anything but peaceful. The whole time I was there I was surrounded by two or three very noisy power trimmers. It ruined the entire experience, I couldn't get out of there quick enough. It's ironic because the brochure says that they employ the use of old-fashioned tools to give a peaceful, serene experience. This was like having your neighbor power up his tools at 6 AM on a Sunday morning. They could've easily have done this work in the off hours so that those trying to enjoy the gardens could do so. If you pull up in the parking lot and hear these obnoxious tools, save your 10 bucks and keep on driving. read more

After days of overpriced and underwhelming food in the general Hampton area, Fuller Gardens were an oasis in a desert of disappointment. The outhouse was actually useable. It was clean and nice. The rose garden was well labeled and smelled wonderful. The Conservatory was packed with well-cared for tropical plants. It's a bit pricey for the size but there were no limits on how long we could stay. The staff were friendly and welcoming. read more

Fuller Gardens is a wonderland of roses and other flowers of all types. If you want to spend an hour or two wandering around flower beds on a nice day, you'd be hard pressed to find a better place to do it. Some of the facilities are a little tired and could use a coat of paint, but look at the plants. There's some amazing stuff here and most of the locals probably don't even know it's here. We went in mid-June and the roses were blooming. I don't know how it is during the rest of the season but mid-June is a good time to go. read more

Last July I moved 2 miles from the gardens so I got myself a membership this year and have been visiting once or twice a week. I just love, Love, LOVE it! I usually go at 10 a.m. and it's like having your own private meditation garden! It seems to get busier as the day goes on. Today I took a friend in the morning with one of my guest passes and left my camera home so I could enjoy the moment. BUT i just had to go back for 2 hours this afternoon to take photos before the rain comes tomorrow! :-) I would love it if they had a few days for photographers to go in earlier than 10 a.m. to get some great early morning light. I also loved the photo of the night blooming cactus from their greenhouse that they posted on their FB page but no chance to get a photo of it when the sun is shining. This is a beautiful little garden and the dahlias are amazing this year! I like the roses, but I really love the dahlias and the perennial garden best! A nice variety and going every week the variety changes and there are new blooms every time I go! read more

An absolutely beautiful Garden that is split into four. The Japanese garden a traditional English garden a geenhouse and a dahlia bloom. I was most impressed by the greenhouse with its many cacti. Recommend becoming members if you live in the area or come here often because it's unlimited admission and definitely worth going to a few times a year. The gardeners were very nice and answered a lot of our questions and the gift shop is very cute. Disappointed. It is NOT handicap accessible. Paths at best are 24 inches and very many areas have steps. A waste of time and money. Stay away if you need to use any mobility device. read more

Lemme sum up: Beautifully landscaped, very good stroll, very good selection of flora If you ask a local, you might never find the place called "Fullah Gahdin". But if you drive north on old Rte 1, just past Sea Rd., you'll see a small green sign with yellow lettering for Fuller Gardens. Take the left turn and visit. Facilities are small and quaint. There is a small gravel parking lot, a small gift shop which also serves as the admissions window, and a small port-a-potty. On lucky occasions, my visits have coincided with plant sales which offer cuttings from the gardens. Personal favorite: Love and Peace hybrid tea. Photographers, bring your cameras. The grounds, while not as grandiose as Linderhof, are as picturesque as one could hope. The groundskeepers have done a phenomenal job of creating four areas with their own unique ambiance and transitions that allow the visitor to feel as if they are stepping between worlds. Each garden has its own strengths. The English Rose garden section is done up with bordering fountains, statuary, and pools. The rose beds are cut into triangles which create diagonal paths. Apple trees, rhododendron, and hedges create the garden "walls". To the west side of the rose garden is the hot house, with an abundance of succulents, exotics, and orchids and an abutting "kitchen garden" with herbs. Exiting through a cut in the boxwood hedge leads to another arch through towering evergreen shrubs, and you are in the Oriental Garden. Japanese maples, a koi pond with occupants the size of sharpei's, and bonsai trees make up a secluded area worthy of a smiling Buddha. Moving east and up a few stone steps you come to a Tuscan inspired area complete with large fountain and sundial. Tall stalked iris, echinacea, and larkspur oversee borders of phlox, allysum, and other colorful carpets. My recommendation is to visit in June when the roses are in full bloom. However, if you arrive in the spring, you will have the benefit of catching the apple blossoms, or the late summer produces spectacular blooms in the Tuscan garden. A true gem on the Seacoast in NH. The effort that goes into taking care of the grounds is easily noticeable, and the fact they use natural care is even more respectable. We had a wonderful time taking in the gardens with the salty sea breeze. This place is one of the finest Gardens I've visited. read more

I love discovering a place that's off the beaten path! Fuller Gardens is the perfect outing if you are looking for something other than the beach this summer but you don't want to deal with the hassle of parking in Portsmouth or busy Route 1. I was out exploring, happened to see the subtle green sign on Ocean Blvd and followed Willow Ave to Fuller Gardens. What a find! I almost had the place to myself and now feel compelled to share my experience. The perennial gardens were unexpected and so lovely. The Japanese garden was sublime. My visit was a bit early for the roses but they will be in bloom shortly and I will definitely go back. I loved the feeling of stepping back in time. One of the gardeners was so friendly; he walked me through the green houses and answered my endless questions about soil quality, how to keep aphids off my own rose bushes...what they use for fertilizer (cow not horse manure because of the digestive process). If you love gardens or are just looking for a peaceful afternoon, I would highly recommend it. I'm not sure how busy it gets in the summer but it seems fairly "undiscovered." read more

My husband and I rode our bicycles here from Hampton Beach. What a beautiful place to stroll through several types of gardens and enjoy some peace and tranquility. There are a variety of plants that would be in bloom during the entire season but one should definitely go in the summer when the roses are in bloom. read more
