Just had a smog check for a car that was due this year, and this place does a really good phenomenal job. No appointments necessary, you can walk in but beware wait times may vary depending on how busy it gets. On a Thursday afternoon, there was pretty much no wait so got my car done within 5 minutes. They give you an estimated price right out front, and then you can decide if you want to continue or not. On average it'll cost about $55, I had an extra coupon that got $15 off. They take cash or credit card forms of payment. When you drop your keys off, you can wait inside their office and there is free complimentary Wi-Fi as well as a restroom if you need it. Just realized I have been bringing my Hondas here for two decades now to get tested over the years. I have always had the same great service. This time was exactly the same. There is plenty of parking and it's never crowded. They help you right away, no appointment needed. The man there is not super talkative, but very nice and friendly. The waiting room is always clean and comfortable. But service is always quick so you do not wait long at all. They also give you a $15 dollar coupon. That's nice too. It just has a good overall vibe that doesn't make you feel uncomfortable. As a woman who didn't grow up around cars, that is something I worry about when I deal with anything regarding automobiles. In and out under 10 minutes or less. Soon as I arrived, one of the staff members took my car in right away even before I brought the paperwork to the counter. There was a customer in front of me so that was the only wait I had. Soon as the other staff member finished my paperwork, my car smog check was completed. Wow! I was impressed at how quickly and efficiently everything was handled. They are also the cheapest place out of several other ones that I had inquired with. On Yelp messaging, they promised me a coupon and gave me an out-of-the-door price, and that was exactly what I paid. I came here for a smog check because my usual place was closed. The vehicle, which has a two catalytic converter system, was never fully tested as the individual doing the test at Fullerton Smog determined that the rear catalytic converter was an issue because the number on it could not be read. This convertor had been on the vehicle for many smog check before and was never an issue. He would yell his 'rear bad' rant and over for the next several minutes while also repeatedly pointing at the front catalytic converter and telling me it was OK (even pointing right at the numbers on it multiple times), an then scurrying back to point at the rear catalytic converter area and yelling that is was wrong. It was a lot of theatrics! He even accused me of putting a bad cat on deliberately! I got under the truck and looked at the rear catalytic converter and simply by cleaning it I could see the numbers. The individual repeatedly, loudly and very rudely refused to properly inspect it despite actually laying under the truck with me for a moment that just enabled him to yell directly into my ear, the same things over and over without once listening or looking. He didn't listen to anything I told him . . . He told me to get the rear catalytic converter replaced and come back. He would not give me my key without paying him! I left having accomplished nothing but giving away money. The whole experience was tense, awful and as it turns out, a total mess! The guy did not know what he was talking about! Had I done what I was told, gotten a new catalytic converter for the rear, and come back for a retest it would not (or should not) have passed at a competent shop because there was nothing wrong with the rear catalytic converter. But, that wasn't the only proof of Fullerton Smog Center's incompetence. I took the vehicle to my usual place when it opened up again. The rear catalytic converter, number and all was just fine, it could be read and looking it up, it was the correct one for the vehicle. Fullerton Smog was wrong! But, it didn't end there! The front catalytic conveyor that Fullerton Smog Center said was OK over and over in long winded rants while pointing at the number on it, it the wrong one! It had been replaced a few months prior and they'd installed the wrong one. The numbers on its showed it was not the proper part for the vehicle. It was all very easy to see and to look up, even I looked it up on my own! Fullerton Smog could not? It all got cleared up very easily because I was now at a competent Smog Shop and not Fullerton Smog who seemed to just want a retest fee, and maybe a chance fail to the vehicle again in a new theatrical display. Fullerton Smog Center, they missed all of it, got it 100% incorrect. My value for the money was very negative!!!! So, you decide on what level of competence or incompetence you can tolerate. The place is dirty, messy and the shop area even less well kept. I do not recommend this business. read more
