They went completely radio silent and never provided a legally mandated written estimate or got my signed authorization--a direct violation of Pennsylvania consumer protection laws. I had to call them two days later, only for them to state, "Oh yeah, it's done. It will be $1,060."The true nightmare began when I picked up the truck. It was still grinding, and the steering wheel was shaking violently, which it never did before I dropped it off. They actively sent me down the road in a dangerous, structurally compromised vehicle without a single care for my safety. When I brought it back, they tried to blame a front bearing. To eliminate that excuse, I replaced the front bearing myself. Two days later, it was still shaking, so I brought it back again. This time, they tried to claim my differential was bad.Knowing they were guessing, I took it to Williams Ford for a second opinion. That is where the truth was uncovered. R&G Auto had cut a massive gouge directly into my axle housing--a permanently fixed, non-serviceable structural component where the bearing seats. They completely destroyed the axle assembly and hid the damage from me, letting me drive off with a ruined drivetrain. They refused to fix it, only offering to refund the original $1,060. However, Ford required $5,400 to completely replace the ruined rear axle housing, forcing me to pay out of pocket.Their hack job also forced me to take the truck to Mavis twice. First, Mavis had to redo the alignment, which R&G left completely out by .17. The manager at Mavis was completely shocked that my brand-new tire even made the drive from Athens to Wysox without blowing out. On the second trip, Mavis had to completely rebalance the tires because someone at R&G had ripped the inside rim sticky wheel weights off while attempting the initial alignment, leaving my wheel completely unbalanced. In total, R&G's negligence and lack of care left my work truck broken down and out of commission for 51 days straight.I took them to local small claims court to recover my actual costs and my 51 days of heavy-duty loss of use (demanding around $6,700 for parts/labor and $5,300 for vehicle use). The courtroom was an absolute joke. It pays to be friends in a small town. The garage owner openly called the magistrate by a shortened nickname throughout the hearing. The judge let the defendants act as their own "expert witnesses" simply because he "knew they've been mechanics a long time." The garage's only piece of evidence was a photograph of a completely different vehicle, which made no sense. Unbelievably, the judge ignored Ford's factory documentation and only awarded me the original $1,060.

They've done everything from rotating tires and oil changes to replacing an engine in my 72 Pontiac convertible. Russ and George started this business by knowing what they're doing. They themselves have older muscle cars and newer also and they work on your vehicle as if it is their own is my opinion. They have always fixed what was broken and never had to inflate the price but if they see something bad they bring it to your attention and I've always trusted their opinions.

Two vehicles, three sets of tires, brakes, all the regular maintenance as well as the typical…read morerunaround "grease the chassis/gallons of wiper fluid" extra $150 labor/parts scam for about a year. (4) appoints in a row with the $100k vehicle; (1) Drivers door creased the entire length of the botton. Hinges twisted, door sprung so bad it had an air gap you could spit through. damage was visible enough i didn't have to attempt to open the handle to know. i calmly turned around and after the unbelievable run around on me as if I was crazy. upon "review of security footage", "split the cost with me", they resultantly made right. no apology but mistakes happen. (2) Inspection and tire rotation/alignment. Alignment had been locked out of it enough to bend an upper control arm, tie Rod and junk a spindle (none of which had I replaced as of that point; assuming if they were aware of the situation I'd be more than happy to have them take care of it. i was told all good no issue, straight as can be on the digital printout... double checked the run down on the work order i requested and all in 2-3 day time line they actually called me for once to have completed and ready to go for once. needless to say the broken tail light lens cover was the least of my focus. Tires never even came off prior to "alignment" of which couldn't be adjusted sitting on the rack. good thing it was spot on. (3) once I "failed" emissions as per the next routine inspection visit with no real problem or explanation; I should have know/seen enough. however a little odometer and half a tank or fuel "they needed to put miles on to reset" the computer wasnt enough; a technican took my vehicle home and again used to pickup pizzas for the whole shop for lunch that day as well. never did see what emissions issues all of a sudden went away (I forgot to return stock factory settings tune back in the vehicle from my laptop before inspection). more miles won't change that but glad i could sponsor the pizza party. (4) best trip yet. routine service. another set of tires and requested my take offs which was against protoco/unheard of/so foolis for that/another comment or two about my take off oil filters and oil too justified my sure "transmission flush"and filter" cost me an entire transmission rebuikd. ran flawless and recalls of any kind handled. never had any issues until five mikes after that trip. for good measure I told them I forgot I had wanted new cv axles too and brought it. back shortly after. the transmission issue was at that point; predictable and repeatable in a sequence you could set your watch by. reset settings and back normal for 9-10 mikes deoending on shifting to reach temperatur. i took it back all good without a code light or word. axles surprise surprise couldn't get done now for a week I just said that's fine I will take it for now and needed it for the weekend. as you can imagine the cover their ass required for another 82 miles. i was spoken to and yelled at, cussed at and told to go elsewhere with my business before the offfice managlent hung up. $1000 and a day later; the boys at Croteaus transmission service from diagnosi/estimate/turnaround time/ to price point and customer service completely exceeded even my best expectation. and don't be fooled by the $10 off mail discounts youll get after service as a thank you and mailed again once or twice as a good persuasive customer service scam. Only get to use one $10 coupon per month. not per vehicle service, per invoice , or even per second new set of tires-free balance and rotation with purchase.. as long as you do it yourself . Conclusion : Pete and the boys should for ahead and throw a pizza party for the mechanis and shop management at Croteaus and thank them for the job they did for one customer that instead of handling things legally or otherwise; you won't have to worry about restitution and as per your professional advice; to take my business elsewhere won't be a problem. While I was working for them they would force me to let many safety concerns I found on inspections slide because they knew the person who owned the car, but on other cars they would pick it apart with a fine toothed comb to find any possible thing they can make money on. They are very two faced people and do everything in their power to charge you as much as possible for anything. The two real techs in the garage, Kenny and Scott, are the only two who know what they are doing and actually care about doing the best job they can on every job. Ben doesn't know a thing about cars, all he does is tall a good game to customers and order parts and uncharged you 70% or more for the parts. Brian is someone who only cares about himself and will throw anyone under the bus and get rid of you in order to save face and make himself look good to others. Neither care about any of their employees and on multiple occasions I overheard them talking bad about those who worked for them, including myself. I used to love this shop when their father Todd ran the business, but these two are going to run it into the ground and that is really sad to see because this shop used to be something really great. I hope Todd takes back over or something changes very soon because I don't want to see this place falling further than it has already.

As for major and minor repairs they can pretty much do it all. Not cheap, but fair pricing and guaranteed repairs. They are very fair and don't do upselling. I know they will treat my vehicle like their own. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. I have lived in the Valley for more than 30 years, and have never heard a bad thing about them.
