This does not suit our personal interests so we started looking for a new local bank. I walked into Bank of Bird in Hand this past Tuesday and was immediately met with smiling faces offering to help. I met with Naomi, she answered all my questions and more. A long story short; we closed our account at one of the Big Banks yesterday and went to Bank of Bird in Hand, we met with Naomi and opened both a savings and checking account. She was very thorough and the process was easy. Because we are over 55 we have free checking and our savings account is earning 3.92%!!!! Yes you are reading this right; "3.92%"! It's a savings account, I have total access to my money, no long term tie up. I need to maintain a minimum balance of $10k. If I go below the minimum balance, the interest quits accumulating at the 3.92%. As soon as I get the balance back above the minimum, 3.92% begins again. They are also offering 4.59% APY on their 24 month CD. If you prefer a more digital banking experience Bank of Bird in Hand has an App for your smart phone that is very easy to use. Yesterday was a good day for us. We were looking for a better more personal banking experience. We wanted to have someone we can meet with and answer our questions. We found just that in Bank of Bird in Hand.
