Fast, courteous and painless. We all expect long delays dealing with any level of government. I can't tell y'all how pleased I was with the service at the Fulton County licensing office. We were in an out in 45 minutes. First the spoiler: my sweetie and I are getting married! We filled out the marriage license application in advance, printed it and brought it with us. You can make an appointment, but t=none available so we just just turned up. We found street parking about a block away. Security protocols were efficient. We waited about 15 minutes and everything was done in maybe 15 minutes. Kudos to Ms. Mathis, the customer service representative, and the cashier, Mr. Rosser. Both were super efficient, courteous and very nice. And both congratulated us. We left with the marriage license for the judge who will officiate at our wedding. She signs it after the ceremony and mails it to the Fulton County License Office. They then record the marriage and send us the signed, sealed marriage certificate. So here's the weird, only-in-Georgia part of the experience. You apply for marriage licenses and permits to carry a concealed weapon at the same office. I guess you could even apply for both at the same time -- if you were so inclined. read more

This is the main office for Fulton County. It sits just three blocks away from the Georgia State Capitol, across from the Fulton County Courthouse, at the corner of MLK and Pryor. If you're driving your own car here, there is no free parking. You'll either have to park on the street (metered) or in one of the nearby decks. If you park on the street, I recommend using the ParkMobile app to pay for and monitor your parking. It's fast, convenient, and hassle-free. If you park in a deck, there are a couple on MLK. I've parked in the "Underground" deck a few times with no problems. This building houses everything from the tax commissioner (where vehicle tags are processed) to voter registration. I've had to visit a couple times to deal with property issues -- once to apply for my homestead exemption and another to handle a records request. My visits were fine. Honestly, this is not really a fun place to visit, but it's a public agency; how much can you expect? Your tax dollars at work. Service could be more pleasant and efficient. The whole place could use a facelift. If you have to visit the tag office, I would consider going to the North Fulton Service Center instead, if it's not too far for you: https://www.yelp.com/biz/north-fulton-government-service-center-atlanta. I visited the Fulton County Clerk's office in person on 12/20/2024. After going through the process of applying for a waiver of court fees and obtaining all necessary paperwork from the judge's courtroom and his clerk, I was instructed to go back to the Clerk's office to file my court filings. I was informed by a Fulton County Clerk's office staff that they would not allow me to scan my court filings or help me with uploading my court filings due to them "closing early for the holiday". There was no signage posted indicating an early closure that day. I had to ask the staff for the website to file my signed court filings, including the paperwork for the waiver of court fees that I obtained from the Justice Resource Center staff. Ultimately, the Clerk's office software company Odyssey E-file/Tyler Technology front line IT support staff could not assist. Preston, the Supervisor of the IT staff contacted me and I spoke with Shavon, who is a Clerk's office staff directed me to the IT staff, but it appears that there were multiple issues with both the Clerk's office and the technology company that they use to manage their IT support issues. This is not what the constituents of Georgia deserve and despite the motto of the Clerk's office, you will have to do things yourself and be your own advocate. Che' Alexander's office has a reputation to uphold and when people do not have the skills to do the job, there are major issues. Please advise. Whatever your thoughts on the how local government works, just know that if it involves this building then it will be smooth sailing. I found myself entering (twice) for Social Workers Day back in February and I have no complaints. Security was fast and courtesy, there is plenty of signage throughout, and the sunlight spilling in through the top is beautiful. I could only imagine what it would be like to work here, but I'll pass considering its location. You will need to find public parking nearby, but don't stress where to eat or grab coffee. There are ample of both within walking distance. And FYI: it's less than a mile to the Georgia State Capital building. read more

this building is actually quite fun IMHO... the atrium is spacious and feels quite zen whilst conducting official county business. I mentioned to the tax commissioner associate "oh hey this building is so cool!" and she kinda grumbled and said "mmm, I guess." if you have to look at it every day I guess it's not as fun. oh well... Came in to get a copy of my son's birth certificate as this is the only office open for walk in service. Going through security was a breeze and the officers were very nice and helpful with checking me and my son while he was in the stroller. After checking in at the kiosk I only had to wait about 20 minutes before being called up. The cost is $25 for one copy and$5 for any additional copies. Everything printed right then and there! Parking in the garage is $6 for the first half hour unless you luck up on street parking. read more

Came here to swap car registrations from DeKalb to Fulton (something I think should not be necessary - if you move in-state, you should be able to use the balance of your current registration in your new county). It looks like a nice tag office and for the most part it is. But what really caught my attention was the system for serving people first-come, first-served. Maybe their proper system was broken, but what I saw was you get a number from a roving, non-identifiable person on the floor, then wait until that person calls you to a window. I saw so many people walk into one of the two doors, look around confused as if they're searching for a number dispenser and give up and take a seat, all the while looking for that elusive ticket dispenser. Most of the time, the roving county employee saw the person and went over to give him or her a ticket. But that person also left the floor for several minutes a few times, and people still came in. As I said, maybe their system was broken and they were implementing a backup plan, but it wasn't working. What a cluster. Anyway, after I was called to a window, things went smoothly. The people behind the glass at least did their job well. The building itself is nice, but they need a directory right where you walk in. read more

I had 3 tasks to address this morning and was dreading dealing with the county govt. I had blocked off my whole day expecting inefficiencies and general apathy. My experience was the exact opposite. I completed all 3 tasks with friendly and competent attendants in under 1 hour. Tag office was helpful, friendly, and efficient, and a big congrats to the the probate court under the leadership of Judge Kenya Johnson. Above and beyond! People rag on Fulton County and the City of Atlanta for not being managed efficiently. While there are some things that I definitely think could be done better, overall I think that things run pretty well and I'm glad to live here. This is probably one of the most overlooked government buildings in the county. It's the largest center for everything from vehicle registrations to property taxes. As Kim S. pointed out, it was also the location for advanced and early voting in Fulton County. As a proud early voter, I can say that the people staffed at this facility were very professional and did a great job getting as many people processed as possible. You might think that going to somewhere like the N. Fulton Annex off of Roswell Road might save you some time. Think again. I always encounter long lines and lots of people when go there. Yeah. This is just as weird to write as it is to look at. 5 stars for the Fulton County Govt office. It was a ridiculously painless and pleasurable experience to get our tags transferred from Dekalb to Fulton and I was so pleased with this visit. I decided to head over to the office (141 Pryor) in the morning on a Friday. From what the staff told me, this is a decent time to come as Friday around lunchtime is the busiest time for tag services. I walked in around 940am and there was no line. Perhaps a fluke? Regardless, I'm thankful for not having to wait. I was called up by a rather nice man named Mike. I sat down, told him I need to transfer our tags to Fulton County and he started the paperwork. He took a look at our new address, set up copies of our new registration papers, had me sign them, handed me two Fulton County stickers, and told me to have a nice day. He was so nice the whole time and even threw out some jokes as I sat. I was shocked, but in the best way possible. After such a wretched experience with Dekalb County a little more than a year ago, this was a godsend. Another positive about this govt building is the amount of bike parking out front. I had a relatively easy ride from Inman and loved that bike parking was under and overhang with great, sturdy bike racks near the entrance. Really happy with Fulton County. Not saying I want to hang out there every day, but it's nice to know how nice they are there. read more

Okay! It's never good to come to any court house. On this visit i had to pay my property taxes and trash pickup. But! sense my last visit, the city has done alot of remodeling throughout the building. It can be very confusing, considering you can NEVER find the proper person at any of the help desk locations to assist with guiding you to the proper building or office locations for your needs. About time you find the right building or office it's time to go feed the DANG meter again . Aside from a confusing attempt to walk into Fulton County Government Center via the closed Peachtree Street entrance after 5:00pm, early voting here was a breeze. We entered the Pryor Street entrance, walked over to the check-in tables. showed our IDs, got a paper, walked over to the voting office, voted, then walked out in a matter of 15 minutes or so. Now, hopefully, those Diebold voting machines will actually count my vote. read more

This review is regarding the Stonewall Tell annex of the Fulton County Government Center. DMV services are rapid, the staff efficient and courteous. However, I went to handle other business after having filled out an online application. The directions on next steps are vague at best. I walked in thinking I had all the necessary items I needed: endorsers and a notarized form. My application is recorded. I found out I had to have my endorsers signature as well as their contact info. Had to return with signatures. Trip number two, same day. The address of the first endorsers was outside the county although the zip code clearly suggests they are in the correct county. Instructed to come back with an alternate endorser, no need to get the form notarized. Had to fill the application out again, online and get a signature from the new endorser. Bring that back on trip number 3. Told that the signatures had to be on the SAME form. You need to return for a 4th time! COMMUNICATION...horrible! Directions...non-existent. Too much going on in an office designed to see 3 people, no room for waiting or filling out forms, incompetent and overwhelmed clerks. I don't get it. Fulton County annex sucks! Could be because of the primary population it serves and folks are complacent and do not complain and demand better. I could perform the job. A monkey could perform the job. And someone needs to train personnel and provide clear instructions and information. Out of forms, unorganized, chaotic. Sad... read more
