We spend a little under an hour in the museum. It is some, but they have a lot of neat Texas items inside. There is also an observation deck on the third floor that faces the marina. Parking is free along the street and just steps away from the entrance. We enjoyed out day learning more about maritime.

This is a large gallery space that showcases a variety of local artists. The upstairs area was dedicated to a specific artist while the downstairs was a mix. All the art was for sale. There was also a small gift shop (saw a few cute items). Finally, a small but lovely sculpture garden outside. As usual, the art is hit or miss (subjective, obviously) but as an artist myself, I always appreciate the promotion of local artists. It really feels like the focus here is to promote artists and encourage artistic community. Love that there is no entrance fee especially since I have two small children so you never know how quickly they'll get bored or cranky. We sometimes have to leave abruptly or move quickly. At this event, they had tables set up in the gardens, around the gazebo in the center. We got to take in the wonderfully catered brunch, while checking out all the hummingbirds, and the flowers they have growing! The gardeners have thoughtfully identified each type of plant growing in the garden, so you can look up more info on them later! Smart! They have statues and birdfeeders, and the gardens are official Monarch butterfly way points and stopping grounds. Inside the museum, you'll find a bunch of information on Connie Hagar, who set up the first Rockport nature preserve, and a bit on the history of the Key Alegro development. It shows a bunch of historical artifacts, and some stuff on the wildlife of the area. Interesting! The Aransas County area has long been a destination for nature lovers, and this area expresses the local love for the natural aspects of this coastal county. The museum is ADA accessible, and has ample air conditioning and clean restrooms. When I went, it was free admission to the museum, because we were there for an event. Not sure if it's free or open every day... I'm glad I came in! I certainly learned more about the development and history behind the area! In all the times that I've been to Port Aransas, I have never stopped into this museum. What a…read morehidden jewel! My son and I spent at least an hour here. That's saying a lot, since this is a tiny little museum. It is in a very nice modern building. But, the layout makes you feel like you're in a refurbished old house. It might just be me. Because it is so small, you feel like you need to read every little placard there is. Each one of them had something really interesting to add to our understanding of the island. I really enjoyed the posters with the Port Aransas timeline. I had no idea that Port Aransas was so recent in the scheme of Texas development. My favorite thing that I learned was that when the Civil War broke out, everyone deserted the island. How cool is that! I also liked reading about the hurricanes that ripped up the island and the special breed of people who made and make their homes there. If you're into fishing, you will love the display of fishing rods and fishing lures. They are displayed in one room very nicely. Bottom line... don't miss this museum. It is definitely worth your while.

As longtime fans of Selena, this was a stop we had been looking forward to, and it did not disappoint. Admission was only $5 per person, which was an incredible value for the experience. Upon arrival, we waited in the front area until our group was escorted inside. The tour began in Selena's recording studio, where we learned more about her life, career, and legacy through displays and information provided throughout the space. There were plenty of great photo opportunities, and it was amazing to see so many pieces of Selena's history preserved. After the studio portion, we were escorted into the museum itself. Photography was allowed, but video recording was not. Everything was kept in pristine condition, and the employees were friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about sharing Selena's story. Of course, no visit would be complete without stopping by the gift shop. It was larger than we expected and stocked with a wide variety of merchandise for fans. We definitely didn't leave empty-handed and walked out with a pretty good-sized bag of souvenirs. We spent about an hour exploring everything the museum had to offer, and it was time well spent. Whether you're a lifelong Selena fan or simply interested in learning more about her impact on music and culture, this is a must-visit stop when you're in Corpus Christi. The Selena Museum was nothing short of amazing. Growing up listening to her music and later…read morewatching her story brought to life in the J.Lo movie, visiting the Selena Museum was a must while I was in Corpus Christi, Texas. The museum does an incredible job showcasing Selena's life and legacy. It's packed with authentic, collectible pieces--her iconic outfits, personal items, and career achievements are all beautifully displayed. You even get to see the actual recording studio where she worked, along with her piano, drums, and her stunning Porsche Targa on display. Seeing all of this in person was truly special and meaningful. This visit definitely felt like paying my respects to a legend. The gift shop is great as well--I picked up a vinyl before leaving, and they also have plenty of shirts and memorabilia. The staff was excellent, the museum itself is clean and well maintained, and the overall ambiance and service were fantastic. I absolutely loved my visit and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area--especially fans of Selena.

This visit was especially exciting for us. We are both Texas Master Naturalists with the Alamo Area chapter. The CEO of the museum is also a member and one of our dear friends. We hoped to see her, but since our original plans got messed up by family interference, we were there on a Saturday. Believe it or not, our friend had come in to catch up on some work. She met with us, got us oriented, and set us free to explore her wonderful museum. We liked all of the exhibits. I especially enjoyed the section on the wildlife of the area. One night at our rental, I swore I heard a pack of coyotes nearby. The museum verified that they are alive and well on Mustang Island. We also enjoyed the Kenedy collection. The whole era of riverboat captains on the Rio Grande and the way many of them morphed into prominent ranchers excites me. It was fun to take a deep dive into one of the key ranch families of the time. The museum has a large children's section with fun activities, but we skipped it since my grandson wasn't with us. Now I wish I had at least looked at it. If you haven't been to the museum, skip the beach one afternoon next time you are in the area and visit. It is a great place.

He loved the science area as well as the cool rocks and minerals exhibits. The spacious rooms offered room to wander and made you feel free to take your time reading all the information provided at each stop. No need to rush here and it wasn't a mad house full of kids on a field trip, thankfully. It's a great place to visit indoors when there is bad weather out!

When we left at 1:15, it was much more crowded! People were at the little beach area, and a bunch visiting the USS Lexington! We really enjoyed the entire history! The restorations that were in progress and those completed on the flight deck. On the flight deck, there is so many great planes to see and read about. On the aft of the flight deck, we saw an arrow and stairs to the arresting gear room that had the arresting equipment. (how they stop the landing aircraft within a few hundred feet). It was a wonderful little area that I think many miss. When you climb back out, you're right back on the landing deck. You can the. Go,to,the pilot house. There was also a 3D air carrier movie that was absolutely amazing! Well worth admission to see this part of history!

Then the nitty-gritty: saddles, spurs, horse whips, riding crops, chaps, cowboy hats, boots, etc. all the necessary tools for the cowboy. The staff is very well-versed. They can explain what each piece is used for and who were the best artisans. The souvenir shop is cute and chock full of Texan stuff. Cutest was a Texas-shaped shot glass. The museum will be undergoing expansion soon. Wow. Give it a visit when in Cuero.
