Ryoichi Suzuki's sculptures were such a wonderful surprise, and I'm so excited that Susie Black will be the featured artist at the festival in July! I'm so thrilled to now own this sunglass case. It's too beautiful to use! The student art display was another highlight--there was a piece on cats and another on dogs, and I adored both. The detail in each work was amazing. These young artists are incredibly talented. I can't wait to go back. At this event, they had tables set up in the gardens, around the gazebo in the center. We got to take in the wonderfully catered brunch, while checking out all the hummingbirds, and the flowers they have growing! The gardeners have thoughtfully identified each type of plant growing in the garden, so you can look up more info on them later! Smart! They have statues and birdfeeders, and the gardens are official Monarch butterfly way points and stopping grounds. Inside the museum, you'll find a bunch of information on Connie Hagar, who set up the first Rockport nature preserve, and a bit on the history of the Key Alegro development. It shows a bunch of historical artifacts, and some stuff on the wildlife of the area. Interesting! The Aransas County area has long been a destination for nature lovers, and this area expresses the local love for the natural aspects of this coastal county. The museum is ADA accessible, and has ample air conditioning and clean restrooms. When I went, it was free admission to the museum, because we were there for an event. Not sure if it's free or open every day... I'm glad I came in! I certainly learned more about the development and history behind the area! Dawdling slow, reading placards, taking some pictures, & talking with the very friendly volunteer on site, it took only about an hour for me to see the displays on the lower floor of this Sears kit house from back in the day when a whole house could be a DIY project. Upper floor is admin spaces. If you're looking to fill a quick time slot in your schedule, this museum may well be your jam.

Thousands of photographs going back a 100 years to look through. Incredible artifacts to look at. They even have a gift shop with hard to find books and art for sale. This was the second time we've been there. This time they had a surfing display. The history of surfing in Port A goes back to the early 60s. I've been surfing for almost 30 years and I learned a lot. They had some really nice classic boards, memorabilia, artwork, stories, and tons of photos. We really enjoyed it. You should stop in here whenever you visit Port A. You will be blown away.

As longtime fans of Selena, this was a stop we had been looking forward to, and it did not disappoint. Admission was only $5 per person, which was an incredible value for the experience. Upon arrival, we waited in the front area until our group was escorted inside. The tour began in Selena's recording studio, where we learned more about her life, career, and legacy through displays and information provided throughout the space. There were plenty of great photo opportunities, and it was amazing to see so many pieces of Selena's history preserved. After the studio portion, we were escorted into the museum itself. Photography was allowed, but video recording was not. Everything was kept in pristine condition, and the employees were friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about sharing Selena's story. Of course, no visit would be complete without stopping by the gift shop. It was larger than we expected and stocked with a wide variety of merchandise for fans. We definitely didn't leave empty-handed and walked out with a pretty good-sized bag of souvenirs. We spent about an hour exploring everything the museum had to offer, and it was time well spent. Whether you're a lifelong Selena fan or simply interested in learning more about her impact on music and culture, this is a must-visit stop when you're in Corpus Christi. I finally got down to see the Selena Museum. It's about 45-60 minutes to get through filled with so…read moremuch memorabilia from her releases, fan art, childhood dolls, celebrity pictures, wardrobe drawings, even her red Porsche! I loved seeing her Grammy and Go Tejano awards among so many more. I got choked up on seeing so many of her outfits from her videos, performances, and award ceremonies. Seeing her microphone with her red lipstick on it and her MAC makeup line made me tear up. The fan art was so impressive. Her famous purple outfits from her live performances. I will say that the initial presentation that was given was good but there was too much mention of JLO. She might be relevant now but JLO would not be where she is without the part of Selena. Selena is iconic! I would love to hear more about the songs Selena recorded there in her studio. Even if it was just a few, I'd love to hear more about her songwriting and recording process. It was cool seeing where she recorded and hearing about the analog equipment. It was well worth it and a necessary must see if you're in CC!

He loved the science area as well as the cool rocks and minerals exhibits. The spacious rooms offered room to wander and made you feel free to take your time reading all the information provided at each stop. No need to rush here and it wasn't a mad house full of kids on a field trip, thankfully. It's a great place to visit indoors when there is bad weather out!

The forensic reconstruction of those who perished along with their biographies was thought-provoking. The recommendation was to tour all the public levels and then go so the movie (which is no additional charge) at the end. Be ready to climb some steps and do a lot of walking. The have a single elevator however that only goes one floor. It's not really an accesable museum. We spent many hours on our selfguided tour. It took almost an entire day. I'm sure, if you don't have the time, you can speed it up but we were not in a hurry.

While in Sugar Land and talking to staff there, someone said make sure to check out the USS Lexington if I got the chance. I got the chance. Walking four levels down below deck and then back up to the main deck was really cool. It mostly gave a taste of what it must have been like on that ship, but also had some great historic displays (like one for Rosie the Riveter, whose NHS I visited in California last year). Anyway from the main deck, I then continued three or four flights up to the flight deck and then up a few more levels to the control/navigation deck. Some narrow and steep staircases meant bumping my head a few times, akin to the sitcom dolt who always does it when entering an attic or basement. Anyway, it was windy on the flight deck, but just so cool to see and walk around. It was time well spent ahead of my game that evening
