By far the best tourist attraction in Corpus Christi is the USS Lexington. If you're a museum lover or a military history fan, this place is an absolute must-visit. Plan to spend about 3-4 hours if you want to explore every level, read the exhibits, and fully experience everything the ship has to offer. Admission was only $20, and the value is incredible. You can climb all the way to the top of the ship, and they even have a "walk the plank" experience where you step off the side of the ship (safely, of course). There are tons of interactive and 3D-style exhibits throughout, making it fun for families, kids, and history buffs alike. I genuinely enjoyed myself and would definitely go back. If you're in Corpus Christi, this is the highlight of the city.

USS Lexington Somehow it turned to be a perfect day to add fun, mystery and adventure. USS Lexington is a war ship now stationed to be a museum. The entry ticket costed $20 per adult for the whole day, so you can go in and out if you like. They have overnight camping and we saw a whole bunch of people lined up for that especially as we started to leave. It has 6 floors in total. We started with the middle deck, which is the point of entry, with a movie which runs every hour on the clock so that way we had an idea about what to expect. There is a lot to see right here, and also a canteen of sorts but the line was soo big never really got to see what they serve. The 2nd floor had kitchen, a sitting room, a volunteer guide who told is a very moving story of courage and camaraderie about one of the photos displayed, it was just incredible. Medals, clothes more photos and paintings and stuff the of the more creative ship crew did with materials available on board etc... The upper deck opens up to a fighter plane mini aeroshow. Its just amazing, even the Skyhawk, the kind Tom Cruise flew in top gun is there. By this time we were pretty much done. There were still 4 more floors to go under.... never mind for today..... The weather played hide and seek between fog l, sprinkles and then sun, that made it unexpectedly an amusing day. Made some perfect memories with a perfect group. A good place to spend a day / or night.

My husband and 3 kids loved exploring the ship and listening about the interesting facts about the ship. My daughter got really emotional in one part of the ship she wouldn't have known what actually went down on that part she started crying and saying people died there and it's sad here my husband moved them away from that area. They loved the planes and they took tons of photos. Also my kids found the snack area and surprise for my husband he is now buying snacks and he bought the photos that they offer.

Wonderful trip to an old Navy ship with military veteran friends. History, nostalgia. Definitely worth the trip.

It was my first time attending the USS Lexington and it was fun, educating, and exciting! The entrance fee is $10 and you'll be able to walk the whole ship. There are various 2d rides that you can do for $5 per person. We enjoyed this visit very much and highly recommend to the whole family.

What an absolutely thrilling and beautiful experience I had with my family! Being by the water made it even more incredible--the serenity was simply magical. Just a heads up, depending on when you visit, it's wise to plan ahead for parking since free spots can be hard to come by. Don't miss out on this amazing adventure!

We didn't do the full experience with films and stuff not my husband thing. Me I would have done it all. This is a must see when you're in Corpus Christi. It can be a bit of a challenge with the steps and some of the hatches.

Great museum. Lots to see. I especially liked all the model planes and ships. There's one room with hundreds of model planes. There's of course several real planes as well. This was worth the trip out to Corpus Christi.

I visited in 2008 while working at military bases in area. Put this one on your bucket list. Important to remember how important Navy carriers like this one were so important in the Pacific war. Until island were captured the Navy had to fight from this floating airfield.

This place is just plain old cool! There's so much to see, every time I think we saw it all, there was another section we still hadn't seen.

The only thing that bothered me was the etiquette of some of the other attendees. Some of them were really loud and commenting loudly on each piece which kind of took away from my experience. They also happened to have a dance performance from the Texas AMA inside which is cool, power to all arts including dance but it was distracting and smack dab in the middle of some interesting pieces I would've liked more time with before my flight. Elizabeth's was a cool restaurant. The blood orange ahi tuna was really delicious like spot on. My martini was okay. They didn't have olives and I've had better being from vegas. Prices are fair though and the staff is decently nice. Lots of crying babies in there when I went though which kind of killed the artsy vibe I was hoping for but I guess that happens in a touristy part of town in Texas. Overall it was nice I'm just a sensitive person and enjoy quiet to ponder art and eat my meal so consider that if you're traveling solo and are similar I suppose. Gift shop was cool and I had a nice chat with the lovely lady in there. And the security guard was cool, he let me store my luggage with him. It's a quick walk over from the convention center so if you want a little art time and a quick drink and meal that's super convenient, it's kind of a no brainer.

Honestly, I think my wife was just as excited as she was! As longtime fans of Selena, this was a stop we had been looking forward to, and it did not disappoint. Admission was only $5 per person, which was an incredible value for the experience. Upon arrival, we waited in the front area until our group was escorted inside. The tour began in Selena's recording studio, where we learned more about her life, career, and legacy through displays and information provided throughout the space. There were plenty of great photo opportunities, and it was amazing to see so many pieces of Selena's history preserved. After the studio portion, we were escorted into the museum itself. Photography was allowed, but video recording was not. Everything was kept in pristine condition, and the employees were friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about sharing Selena's story. Of course, no visit would be complete without stopping by the gift shop. It was larger than we expected and stocked with a wide variety of merchandise for fans. We definitely didn't leave empty-handed and walked out with a pretty good-sized bag of souvenirs. We spent about an hour exploring everything the museum had to offer, and it was time well spent. Whether you're a lifelong Selena fan or simply interested in learning more about her impact on music and culture, this is a must-visit stop when you're in Corpus Christi. A wonderful tribute to an unforgettable artist. Anything for Selenas!

I will say that the initial presentation that was given was good but there was too much mention of JLO. She might be relevant now but JLO would not be where she is without the part of Selena. Selena is iconic! I would love to hear more about the songs Selena recorded there in her studio. Even if it was just a few, I'd love to hear more about her songwriting and recording process. It was cool seeing where she recorded and hearing about the analog equipment. It was well worth it and a necessary must see if you're in CC!

I came here for Smithsonian Museum Day, where admission is FREE!! The museum opened up its galleries for the public and had demonstrations, displays and events going on! The downstairs area consists of the main galleries and the gift shop. I felt that the prices at the gift shop were quite reasonable if you're in the need for Asian stuff for the home to feng shui is up, or for some jade jewelry. The design of the museum was quite interesting, with a neat walkway that is reminiscent of the Royal Palace in Seoul to the Korean wing, and windows that look out on samurai statues and bamboo gardens! It's quite idyllic. The museum had all kinds of cool, interesting things to check out. While we were there, a docent was giving a talk on Asian weapons! Hiiiiya! Upstairs is accessible with an elevator, and has a library and a doll collection from Japan. Apparently, the founder of the museum was a lady from the area who was retired, loved to travel, and struck it rich with oil. She continued to travel, buying cool stuff she came across, and writing journals about her experience. The upstairs library has all of her writings on catalog, which range from intricate details about mundane aspects of her trip, to in-depth looks at culture and fashion. The collection of Japanese dolls she amassed is quite impressive. A docent was happy to walk us through the collection, pointing out the highlights and significance of the collection. My favorite was the Japanese doll of Richard Nixon! Sock it to Me!!! Parking was easy, and the museum is located amid a bunch of other local attractions, making it a cool quick stop to scope out the culture!
