Seems like every community these days has a non profit " Art Center". I'm a strong advocate for all…read moreart all the time. On the surface it appears the director of the Port Aransas Art Center is currating the pieces for sale nicely. I didn't see any thing I thought was less than worthy to hang there. They have plenty to choose from if you're in the market for local artist coastal subjects. Go!

I have some major complaints about Michelle, the Gallery Director, that I would like to address…read morewith the board. I have been treated rudely for the past three years by her. I submitted a compaint through the website that was intercepted by Michelle, and she emailed me back with excuses about "procedures" that were complete and utter BS. My last interaction with her was on January 15, 2026, when I arrived for a class and she yelled at me as I was moving my watercolor supplies to the classroom, angrily telling me that I was NOT signed up for the class and was not allowed to go in the classroom. I WAS signed up, and as I tried to show her my Apple Card transaction to Port Aransas Art Center, she essentially called me a liar. I had paid for the class on January 6th through the website, and my card was charged $45. She demanded an email receipt, which I was unable to locate because I was flustered and angry...there were other people also trying to check in, and I felt embarrassed at being accused of somehow cheating the art center. She eventually found my registration, but I was humiliated in front of other students, and she still tried to make it MY FAULT. This is NOT normal. She literally yelled at me over the other girl working there and DEMANDED that I stop walking towards the classroom, as she came out of the office in what seemed like an attempt to physically prevent me from going in. We already spend 50% more for the watercolor class (price went up for the weekly class from $30 a couple years ago), and Michelle absolutely destroyed my creativity that day. I did almost nothing in class because I was so shaken. This is not an isolated incident, and she's been rude and hateful to me (and others) for about the last three years. I would like to address this with someone on the board (not her spouse or significant other). I submitted a long email with events from the last three years, although I've been coming to the center for over ten years. In the last three years alone, I've donated cash to the center, purchased art, paid class fees, donated art supplies, and a few years back donated two jewelry items that I created, valued over $500, for an auction to benefit the center. The total for the past three years, not counting the jewelry items, is over $1,540. And yet I'm still treated rudely, EVERY TIME I visit the center. I have never done anything to deserve this. I would welcome the opportunity to discuss with one or more board members what's been happening. Michelle is not going to forward my email, and she's making excuses for her rudeness...there is never an excuse to yell at or make snarky, nasty, hateful comments to someone who has gone out of their way to support the center. The Art Center was a big part of why we chose Port Aransas to spend thousands of dollars in the local economy each year for the past 15 years. Next year, if we return, I will make sure to sign up for watercolor lessons at the rec center instead. If you're on the board, look up the receipts...I paid for a watercolor class with Carrie on January 6th through the website. I also just donated $100 to the rain barrel project on the 13th or 14th. I live in Colorado and we come down in January and February each year. You can find my contact info there, or reach out to me through the Yelp messaging center.

After some quick instruction, the kids, ranging from 6-12 years old, all dove into their own creations. Chip helped as needed, but really let the kids be the creators, which I really appreciated. He had all kinds of supplies, from various shaped buckets to kitchen utensils, that were "repurposed" as sand sculpting tools. The kids were so into their creations, they barely looked up for 3 hours! In the end, they had lots of compliments from people on the beach, and very happy parents. I highly recommend anyone...from couples to big groups, give Chip a call and make some memories together.

We found Chip's sand castle building class on the Corpus Christi website and I'm so glad we did. He was GREAT with the children. He was super patient and relaxed. He showed them some very basic stuff so they wouldn't get frustrated and then built upon that foundation. He came with lots of equipment for us so we weren't providing or hauling anything ourselves. Chip was so friendly! He helped set my worrying mom-mind at ease. He seemed to sense when the kids had enough of one activity and moved on to the next. I highly recommend his services to anyone else going to the beach in the Corpus Christi, North Padre area. If we go back again, we'll be calling upon Chip!

If you are looking for terrible customer service, lies , wasted time and a destroyed crystals, by…read moreall means Diamond Island by St. Eves Noel in Port Aransas & Rockport, Tx. is where you need to be. On June 22nd. I entered the store and told the shop owner that I had a crystal pendant that needed a jump ring reattached. I explained that my husband had just passed in the last couple of months and that I had lost my wedding band in the move. He had given me this crystal for an anniversary present. While crystal might not be worth a lot of money, it meant everything to me. We talked a second about the process; she said there may be an issue with heat cracking the crystal. I told her then; do not do anything that would alter this crystal. If the jeweler thinks that there is any chance that would happen, don't do anything, return it and I will just wire wrap it myself. She said no problem, we should have it done soon, maybe a week. 2 weeks later I had not heard from her, I called. She said that they could not attach a jump ring and that they were going to redo the cap and make something for it. It should be 2 more weeks. She said, I know, we will stop if there is a possibility of cracking. Two more weeks go by and I do not hear from them. I go to the shop and I ask for the crystal back. She replied, I don't have it here you will have to come back tomorrow. I said tomorrow, she said yes. I said ok, I will see you tomorrow. Tomorrow arrives and the shop is closed. (website and hours on the door says it should be open) I call her. She says oh, I'm in Rockport setting up our second shop. I asked, why did you tell me to come by today knowing you were not going to be here? She was like... Oh, well, ya know. I replied, ya know now I am pissed. It has been 4 weeks and 2 days of this nonsense. YOU literally told ME to be here today. She then says when she gets back in town she will bring it to me. Not believing for one second that this was actually going to happen, I replied, great you do that. The following morning at 8:21am, she texts me "I have your crystal so if you can meet me this morning at my shop, that would be great. If not, it will be this afternoon when I'm back at my shop." I texted her back when I woke up at 9:29 and asked would 9:45 work? No answer back, so I just drove over there arriving at 9:45. Yep, the shop was closed! I call her, she said well we were there in the morning but we had to leave for Rockport. (wow!) I replied, ok, when will you actually be back at your shop? We decide on 5:00 pm. I show up, she meets me at the door crams my crystal in my hand. I politely say thank you as she wordlessly turns around and walks off to the counter. I turn, walk out the door and am walking to my car, when then she decides to chase after me in the parking lot shouting, "It's really too bad for you. My husband was working on something really nice!" I just looked at her and said yeah? Well I'm working on a really nice review. Got in my car and pulled out the crystal as she scurried inside. Yep.... They crystal has been altered. The one side of it has been totally cut away leaving gouges where the blade cut. The crystal is splintering at one part. I am absolutely LIVID, frustrated, crushed and destroyed. I hope and I pray that you two get the day you deserve for the rest of your lives.
