I had a 100ft extension cord that had seen better days. It had too many spots where the copper was exposed posing a real shock-hazzard. North Fulton Metals gave me $8.10 for it. That's better than throwing it in the trash...or giving it to Roswell Recycling Center. Now I have $8.10 to apply towards a new power cord. This place accepts metals, period. I have a pair of brake rotors that I've been wondering how to dispose of. Well now I know. I just replaced an aluminum radiator. I turned it into the Roswell Recycling Center. They gladly accepted it. Guess how much they gave me for it? Nothing. That's right, nothing. I essentially gave away a radiator. Here's the kicker, North Fulton Metals is within walking distance of the Roswell Recycling center. They would have paid me for the radiator. I probably wouldn't get much more than $5 but that's better than nothing. Be smart about any old metal you have lying around the house. Got an old lawnmower laying around? How about an old car engine or transmission? Brake drums or rotors? Recycle that stuff with North Fulton Metals. They also take appliances and car batteries too. Appliances with Freon must be evacuated and recovered in accordance with the law...it's against the law to discharge freon into the air. Our gas grill hadn't worked in ages, and I really wanted to get it out of our small carport. But I didn't want it to just end up in a landfill. So I searched for scrap metal by zip code, and found North Fulton Metals in the proximity of my office. Just off Hembree, not far from Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre is North Fulton Metals. There is one sign for metal recycling out front. You drive around to the back and look for an employee to help you. We got the most help from another customer dropping off scrap. They'll bring a container (think miniature dumpster) around to your car for you to load up, then drive it with a forklift over to the industrial scale. If I'd had a truck, I could've taken the whole grill still assembled, as I saw other grills around the lot. But since I drive a Prius, I had to dismantle it to get it to fit. You step up to the window that's on the side of the building about half way to the back, present your drivers license, and have your picture taken. You sign that you have the right to sell your metal, and then they present you with a check. For 90lbs of scrap steel, I got $8.10. There is parking out front, which they recommend if you're done unloading and just waiting in line. The lot isn't paved past a certain point, but it was relatively free of debris. While there was a lack of instruction and the guy driving the forklift wasn't particularly helpful, the guy sitting behind the window was polite enough. I will be back with more scrap as soon as I can rent a truck or figure out how to get it in my prius! read more

I was taking my materials to the south side of Atlanta or sometimes to Buford Hwy, but there was no place close by until I've found these guys. the place is great if you have small loads of scrap that can fit into self dumping hopper. The lines are never too long so you can weigh in and weigh out relatively quick. Company writes you a check that you can cash out at any Suntrust Bank. Also- if you have a large load of metal, i would recommend separating different kinds, because some pay way more than others. steel being the cheapest at around $0.10 per pound and for copper you can get paid as much as $3.00 per lb. good way to make some money on a side! t read more
