If I heard right the owns a philly native and did well to capture the flavors and vibe of oh llt and the live of community inside the restaurant. As for the food again it's not just an attempt to be an imitation of the genos or pats recipes. No they do YO Philly and they do it very well. I had the philly combo and I broke the usual rules adding pepper mushrooms and onions on their version of a cheese wit. Which have prov and whiz. That said the normally over look hard roll was perfect. Solid hard stands up to the generous filling with a great chew. Onion rings were cooked perfectly battered and sweet slightly buttery. I also got the parm sub. The sauce was full of flavor and while not breaded it was still very good , chopped chicken and good amount of cheese and topped with grated Parmesan. Only thing that would make it better is some mozzarella sticks in the sun but, I'm a big back. The folks working were very friendly and helpful. Have to come back to try the other subs. Got in just before closing last Friday Night. Not gonna lie felt terrible but it was my last night in town. That being said, without hesitation the owner and crew took my order. Came here for the first time with my kids. Didn't know this Philly themed shop was located here in Texas lol. Anyways, we ordered the Philly Special, Italian Stallion, and Beast from the East. All the subs were delicious and flavorful. There's a little too much bread to meat ration, but otherwise, worth it. The fries and onion rings were also really delicious. Overall, delicious and great portions for the price that you pay. I'm from Hawaii, but am an Atlanta Falcons fan sooooo I don't really care for the Eagles ambience lol. We do love Rocky though. The staff is very friendly and fast. I like that the owner walks throughout the restaurant checking on the customers. The restrooms are single use so sometimes, there can be a wait. We decided to walk here after Blackbeards each night had a 45 minute wait. Spouse orders Pepperoni Pizza. Only flavor they have. I ordered Canneloni. You get 3 Cannelonis with cream and mini chocolate chips. Yum. Now on to the pizza, the sauce was OK, I needed red pepper flakes for flavor. The crust or bottom part was a weird thin crust with a flaky, chewy type crust. It reminded me of a frozen pizza. Spouse noticed they really didn't have a pizza oven. From the outside I was thinking it was a little sketchy but once inside the service and taste of the food was phenomenal. This place has such a cool vibe to it. The interior is incredibly inviting and fits the atmosphere of the establishment. The people working are nice and helpful. They are great at explaining the differing dishes and are very friendly. The food is definitely delicious. Each sub is well made (cooked well and includes just the right ingredients to make for a wonderful meal). The sides accompanying the meals are also wonderful, however none are as good as the onion rings which are cooked to perfection. The onion rings are crispy and not too oily making for pure deliciousness. The only real comment I have about this establishment is the disappointing desserts. When my family and I ate there the only dessert they had in stock was the cannoli. The cannoli was at best average and definitely could not compete with the the rest of the meal. Was in town a few days and decided to give this a shot. A good Philly is hard to find in any city and based on the reviews I had high hopes for this place. Walked in and noticed the place was completely empty. Not a great start but didn't detour us. I really liked the photos and everything on the walls. The Three Stooges case was the highlight of the visit. We immediately noticed the place smells like old grease but the young lady at the counter was quick to greet us which distracted us from the smell. Now on to the Philly. This was easily the driest sandwich I've ever had. Dry, flavorless meat served on a roll you can buy at any HEB. I hadn't planned on using the pepper relish on the entire sandwich but I had to. It was that dry. A small family came in after us and while they were eating I heard the husband talk about how dry the sandwich was. He ended up getting a side of mayo and adding it to his Philly. I hate to say this but Jersey Mikes makes a better Philly, and I don't like them either. Oh...the onion rings tasted like the old grease we smelled when we walked in. Two stars.
