We were excited to visit this tribute to such an iconic artist, and it was well worth the visit. When we arrived, we were able to find parking close to the memorial, making it easy to access. As we walked up, we could hear Selena's music playing through the speakers, along with information about her life and career. It really helped create a meaningful and memorable experience. The statue itself is beautiful and sits under a gazebo, allowing visitors to walk all the way around it. There are plaques and inscriptions that share more about Selena's legacy, and we enjoyed taking the time to read them and reflect on her impact. This is also a fantastic spot for photos. The memorial's location along the Gulf Coast adds to the atmosphere, providing beautiful views and a peaceful setting that complements the tribute perfectly. Whether you're a lifelong Selena fan or simply visiting Corpus Christi, this memorial is definitely worth stopping by. The largest Blue Crab in the world! It's 27' wide, and weighs over a half ton!…read more Everything is bigger in Texas. This crab guards the entrance of the Rockport Beach, one of the finest beaches in Texas. Rockport is known for its seafood that they catch here. The blue crab is one of them! Rockport previously had another crab statue that was on top of a seafood restaurant. It lived there from the 1950's to about the 1970's when it fell into disrepair due to hurricane damage. However, in 2012, artist David Allgood unveiled a bigger better crab. Rockport is really into the arts, and this is a great example! It's across the street from a sculpture garden, and compliments the area nicely! Don't worry, this statue doesn't say anything about the disposition of people from Rockport, they're friendly! The funny thing about this crab is that it's a hermaphrodite. It is a male crab with female claws.

A fence has been put around it to protect the roots. We enjoyed reading the history of the tree. It's quite astonishing that this tree is so old and probably still has many years of life left in it.

This coastal-themed gallery is in a nice little retail space, right across from the Winery on the Bay in the Rockport Arts District. They keep regular hours, but they also have a monthly Arts Walk that the Arts Council coordinates, and they stay open late, serve up some wine, beer and cheese, and show off their greatest works! I really enjoyed the nautical themed paintings, as well as the ones of the local Aransas County wildlife. They also do frames, which look really neat! The owner, Mike was super friendly, let the dog come on in too! The shop was super clean, well lit and fun to visit! Rockport has a reputation for being a funky arts town, and this gallery does a great job of representing!

Elizabeth's was a cool restaurant. The blood orange ahi tuna was really delicious like spot on. My martini was okay. They didn't have olives and I've had better being from vegas. Prices are fair though and the staff is decently nice. Lots of crying babies in there when I went though which kind of killed the artsy vibe I was hoping for but I guess that happens in a touristy part of town in Texas. Overall it was nice I'm just a sensitive person and enjoy quiet to ponder art and eat my meal so consider that if you're traveling solo and are similar I suppose. Gift shop was cool and I had a nice chat with the lovely lady in there. And the security guard was cool, he let me store my luggage with him. The recommendation was to tour all the public levels and then go so the movie (which is no additional charge) at the end. Be ready to climb some steps and do a lot of walking. The have a single elevator however that only goes one floor. It's not really an accesable museum. We spent many hours on our selfguided tour. It took almost an entire day. I'm sure, if you don't have the time, you can speed it up but we were not in a hurry.

While in Sugar Land and talking to staff there, someone said make sure to check out the USS Lexington if I got the chance. I got the chance. Walking four levels down below deck and then back up to the main deck was really cool. It mostly gave a taste of what it must have been like on that ship, but also had some great historic displays (like one for Rosie the Riveter, whose NHS I visited in California last year). Anyway from the main deck, I then continued three or four flights up to the flight deck and then up a few more levels to the control/navigation deck. Some narrow and steep staircases meant bumping my head a few times, akin to the sitcom dolt who always does it when entering an attic or basement. Anyway, it was windy on the flight deck, but just so cool to see and walk around. It was time well spent ahead of my game that evening

I recommend seeing the inside of the home first and then touring the basement. They started building the home in 1874 and moved in during 1877. The family lived in the home until 1895. The home had many modern updates most homes did not have in that time period. It is beautiful and I love the history. Parking is free. They have a small gift shop in the ticket area.
