The premises were quiet as we were basically the only guests there so we essentially got a private tour. The grounds are beautiful and it's always great to learn about the history of our region. And there's a strong moral to the story of this settlement... Practicing celibacy is not the answer for a thriving community.

Bradford House was built by the lawyer David Bradford in 1788 and today is a National Historic…read moreLandmark and museum. David, his wife, his many children, and his servants lived in this stone house until 1794, when they fled to avoid David's arrest for his role in the Whiskey Rebellion. Depending on the month, Bradford House offers drop-in and scheduled tours. The drop-in tours are for individuals and small groups and have no admission fee, although donations are appreciated. Group tours should be arranged in advance and do have an admission fee. I read on their website that for groups they offer dining-room parties that serve teas and 18th-century-style foods--sounds fun! My husband and I were walk-ins for a tour. Two docents who were dressed in period clothing walked us through the house: the foyer, parlor, and dining room on the first floor; the beautiful mahogany stairwell and the simpler servants' stairwell; and the sewing room, children's room, master bedroom, and servants' quarters on the top floor. In addition, a docent walked us to the backyard that contained an herb garden, well, and log kitchen cabin (which has occasional hearth-cooking demonstrations). A small gift shop offered merchandise such as books and t-shirts. The docents throughly explained the history of the house, its architecture and renovation, the furniture (which is from the time period but was not owned by the Bradfords), etcetera, and they kindly answered our questions. I did not time our tour, but we were there for probably about one hour. Educational and interesting!

Visited the Nutcracker Village here this year and loved it! I had been several years ago but there…read moreweren't nearly as many nutcrackers at the time from what I remember. This year we walked up and down the streets where nutcrackers were lined up and it was so fun to look at each one. Along the way we would stop into stores and browse. They also have a market set up with local vendors selling a variety of goods, crafts and yummy eats and drinks! They also had Christmas trees outside with different themes. One benefited the Humane Society and you could write your pets name on a wooden ornament. Very cute. I really recommend you stop by. I think this is a cute activity for families and children or a date night. I will continue to visit!

Everything is well maintained and there are a lot of amenities like a sensory room and a playground. I love that this is a very family friendly, affordable way to enjoy time together, even with the youngest ones. They have a Kids Club that gives kids free admission on Sundays! But even without that, their tickets are very affordably priced. Food is also affordable compared to other similar attractions and there is a nice variety of options. A really fun and unique feature is the cookies and milk being offered during a mid inning break for only $1! They often have additional family activities like meeting mascots (they always have the Wild Thing there). If you are looking for affordable family fun, this is a great place to check out.

You do have to pay $1 each time for the bounce houses but that was ok. We also really appreciated the more affordable food choices. Nothing like going to a Pirates game. There was so much entertainment in addition to the ball game. We all enjoyed ourselves a lot and look forward to attending a few more games in the 2026 season!

They have information about local businesses, a museum featuring local history, water and bathroom stop for trail users, and also a rental hall for events. A great place to stop while riding the trail on weekends.

It's nice to see over the past few years it's coming back. Albeit slowly but surely. The trail definitely helps and this station is a hub for cyclists. It's a cute little building that can be rented out for parties, etc. Chock full of history, a nice little place to check out.

Visited the Pittsburgh's Pennsylvania Motor Speedway for the first time on an unseasonably cold…read morelast Saturday of May. We came to watch the Night of Champions racing. Having never been here before, and not having much experience with racing at a local level, I did not know a lot of what to expect. But overall, it was a pleasant experience that was enjoyable for me, and would also be for people of many different ages. There is parking in the grass right when you pull into the Motor Speedway. It is very close to the entrance, and a flat walk. We purchased general admission tickets at the gate upon arrival. For this race, tickets were $16 per person. There were 5 races scheduled, along with the hot laps beforehand. There was not a line, and we walked right up to the ticket counter. It could have been because of the weather, but it was quick and easy to buy admission and enter. You were given a ticket stub, and as long as you have it on you, you can go back to your car and reenter. I had to do this once and the security at the entrance was nice about letting me back in. They let you bring your own food and drink inside. There are concessions for purchase, but it is a nice option to have if you want to have something other than typical snack bar foods and drinks. The entrance is behind the grandstands, and you have to walk underneath them to get into the main areas of the venue. There are permanent restrooms in the building that is right in front of you upon entering. This is the same building that houses the concessions. Once you are through the building and under the bleachers, you will see the area where they sell merchandise, and right next door are the concessions. They had typical foods of what would be expected somewhere like this, as well as some daily specials. Most of the food was self-service, meaning it was set up almost as a grab and go, with a cashier at the end of the line. Due to the weather that day, there were not a ton of spectators, but I imagine on a busy day this would expedite waiting times for food. We got a Hot Chocolate and a Hot Dog to snack on. I thought the food was average, and the prices were a little high for what was offered for some of the items. The staff in the concession stand were very kind and helpful, and we enjoyed conversing with them. After getting our food, we made our way to the bleachers. There are plenty of seats, and since there was a smaller crowd there was a ton of room to spread out. I do not believe there was any assigned seating for this section, so we just sat where we wanted to. The bleachers are old and wooden, so I would recommend either bringing some blankets, cushions, or those seat backs to make it more comfortable. We enjoyed getting to watch all the races. They have a Victory Lane for the winners, and get them on the mic for a few minutes following the race. The "pit row" is in the middle of the track, so you can see everything going on. They kept it moving pretty well and had some engaging commentary over the PA system. I had a very positive first experience at the Motor Speedway. If you are looking for something that is family friendly, affordable, and fun to do I would recommend a night watching the races going on!

They had plenty of cars to show, several different races took place, and a concession stand with food and beer available. The grandstand seating was ok if you were thoughtful enough to bring seats or a blanket to sit on. The wooden bleachers aren't the most comfortable on their own. The food selection was what you'd expect from a venue like this - hot dogs, hamburgers, meatball subs, fries, mozzarella sticks, etc. The fries were crispy and so were the chicken tenders. They raffled off several baskets and 12pks of alcohol, of which my bf's mom won 2 and a basket. We stayed for about 3 hours and headed out just before the rest of the crowd dispersed. Parking is on the grass, but there's a ton available.
